    Notes:

    Kay Church, age 63, of Eliz-a-beth-ton, went home to be with the Lord on March 18, 2015, from her res-i-dence.
    Kay was a na-tive of Carter County and was a daugh-ter of the late But-ler and Mary Scalf Jen-kins. In ad-di-tion to her par-ents, she was pre-ceded by three broth-ers, Le-roy Hill, De-nis Hill and Ricky Hill; a sis-ter, Della Mae Daven-port; and a brother-in-law, Bill El-li-ott.
    Kay was the caf-e-te-ria man-ager at Hamp-ton Ele-men-tary School and was of the Bap-tist faith. She en-joyed spend-ing time with her grand-chil-dren and "her kids" at Hamp-ton Ele-men-tary, cook-ing and spend-ing her sum-mers by the swim-ming pool.
    Left to cher-ish her mem-ory is her hus-band, Rick Church, of the home; two daugh-ters, Cindy Church Steven-son and her hus-band, Doug, and Re-nee McNeal and her hus-band, Steve, all of Eliz-a-beth-ton; her grand-chil-dren, Tessa Steven-son and Ryleigh McNeal; her broth-ers, Gary Hill and wife, Judy, Terry Scalf and wife Gale, Paul Hill and wife, Carol, and Ce-cil Hill and wife, Norma; and her sis-ters, Sue El-li-ott and Betty Mathes and hus-band, Chuck, all of Eliz-a-beth-ton. Sev-eral nieces and neph-ews, in-clud-ing Terra Scalf, Travis Scalf, Deana Jen-kins, Woody Lyons, Benny Lyons, Bo Lyons, Tim Lyons, Crys-tal Kuhn, Bobby El-li-ott, Billy El-li-ott, Tammy Hill, Missy Mar-low and Greg Hill, as well as her spe-cial friends, Bar-bara Eg-gers, Kevin Ward, Sue Pritchard, Sherry McIn-tosh, Bill Blevins, Krista Ram-sey, Marisa Pot-ter, Rita Way-caster, Nancy Mur-ray, Jean Payne; and spe-cial lit-tle boy, Collin Guinn.
    A ser-vice to honor the life of Kay Church will be con-ducted at 7:00 PM on Fri-day, March 20, 2015, in the gym-na-sium of Hamp-ton Ele-men-tary School with Rev. Ron-nie Camp-bell and Rev. Shane Waters of-fi-ci-at-ing. Mu-sic will be pro-vided by Terra Scalf and Va-nessa Cox.
    The fam-ily will re-ceive friends from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM in the gym-na-sium, prior to the ser-vice on Fri-day. The fam-ily re-quests that ev-ery-one wear their "Pray for Kay" shirts, in honor of Miss Kay.
    The grave-side ser-vice will be con-ducted at 11:00 AM on Satur-day, March 21, 2015, in the Hardin Ceme-tery. Ac-tive pall-bear-ers will be James Kyte, Steve McNeal, Doug Steven-son, Travis Scalf, Bobby El-li-ott, Woody Lyons, Tim Lyons, Benny Lyons, Bo Lyons and Billy El-li-ott. Honor-ary pall-bear-ers will be Car-mon Dug-ger, Howard Matherly, Jim An-drews, Cheyenne Camillo, Wes-ley Mur-ray, Kelly Crain, the fac-ulty and staff of Hamp-ton Ele-men-tary School and all of the stu-dents through-out the years.

    Terry Dean Scalf, 60, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Friday, August 28, 2015, at the Select Medical Hospital, Bristol, following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Butler and Mary Scalf Jenkins. Mr. Scalf was a brick mason and a member of Little Doe Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing with his musical friends, playing golf and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Hill and Leroy Hill; a sister, Kay Church; and his father-in-law, Ray Wellman. Survivors include his wife, Gale Scalf, of the home; two daughters, Terra Scalf, of the home, and Deana Scalf, Elizabethton; a son, Travis Scalf and his wife Rosella, Elizabethton; five granddaughters, Katy, Brooke, Kyndal, Abby and Kymber; a grandson, Koty; four brothers, Cecil Hill, Gary Hill, Paul Hill and Carl Clark, all of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Betty Mathes and Sue Elliott, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A service to honor the life of Terry Dean Scalf will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Shane Waters officiating. Music will be under the direction of his musical friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, in the Wellman Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Wellman, Kenny Wellman, Nate Treadway, Zach Treadway, Mike Hicks, Junior Wellman, Bobby Elliott, Billy Elliott, Travis Hall and Rick Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Clark, Rick Church, Dwight Treadway, Jerry White and all of his musical friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

    Reverend Norman Ray Loveless, 80, of Piney Flats, Tenn., passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at home. He was born in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Dave Loveless and Mildred Jenkins Loveless. Reverend Loveless was the Minister for Oak Dale Freewill Baptist Church in Bluff City, Tenn., and was the Pastor in area churches for over 50 years and ordained in 1971. Reverend Loveless enjoyed preaching, hunting and fishing.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Peterson Loveless; sister, Shirley Hartley; and grandson, Joshua Ray Loveless.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Phyllis Ingle Loveless, of the home; two sons, Bobby Ray Loveless and wife Mildred of Elizabethton and Danny Ray Loveless and wife Melissa of Bluff City; three daughters, Debra Marie Sherwood and husband Glenn of Elizabethton, Teresa Lynn Pitman and husband Kevin of Hampton, Tenn., and Angela Renee Watson and husband Wayne of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Rachel Rodriguez and husband Art of Florida, Lauren McInturff and husband Daniel of Johnson City, Misty Anne Branch and husband Joshua of Elizabethton, Brittney Taylor and husband Daniel of Johnson City and Johnathan Watson of Elizabethton; six great-grandchildren, Reegan Taylor, Abram Taylor, Benaiah Taylor and Brody McInturff, all of Johnson City, Malachai Branch and Jada Branch of Elizabethton; brother, Kenneth Loveless and wife Dawn of Johnson City; brother-in-law, Charlie Ingle and wife Dorothy of Virginia; and sister-in-law, Margie Leonard of Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    A funeral service to honor the life of Reverend Norman Ray Loveless will be conducted at noon on Saturday, September 4, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home. The family will receive friends between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service and committal will follow in the McKeehan Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Arrowood, Pastor Charlie Trivette and Pastor Terry Richardson officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Loveless, Danny Loveless, Wayne Watson, Kevin Pittman, Glenn Sherwood and Jeff Hartley. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel McInturff, Johnathan Watson, Josh Branch, Art Rodriguez and Daniel Taylor.
