    … 90, of Mountain City, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. R. Thornhill of Roanoke, Va., Rte. 5, on Saturday, Sept. 8.
    Survivors are a son, Ernest Slemp of Mountain City; seven daughters, Mrs. Laura Vaught of Johnson City, Mrs. W. T. Smith of Preston, W. Va.; Mrs. Elbert Wilson of Portland, Ore., Mrs. J. P. Guills of Lynchburg, Va., Mrs. J. C. Dempsey of Unicoi, Mrs. J. R. Thornhill and Mrs. F. O. Davidson, both of Roanoke, Va.; one brother, I. W. Nave of Mountain City; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Ward of Neva, Mrs. Susan Barry of New Underwood, S. D., Mrs. Mollie Wagner of Mollola, Ore.; 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Valleyview Methodist Church with Rev. William Martin and H. T. Mabry officiating. Pallbearers were the grandsons and flower bearers were the granddaughters.
    The body was returned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Slemp Saturday morning.
    Burial was in the family cemetery.

    Judy Nave Snyder, age 84, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Watauga Medical Center. She was born on June 12, 1927 to the late Edward and Margaret 'Maggie' Arnold Nave. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by two sisters, Adlee Lane and Ella Mae Goodwin; and two brothers, Earl Nave and Shelton Nave.

    Judy loved to read and loved to go sight-seeing and travel. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church.

    Judy is survived by her husband of 67 years, Alex Snyder; daughter, Kathy Greever of Mountain City, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Helen Snyder of Mountain City, TN; sister, Louise Russom of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren, Amanda Greever of Louisville, TN, Chad Greever and wife Amber, Tracy Snyder and wife Wendy, Rebekkah Davenport and husband Charles, all of Mountain City, TN; great grandchildren, Trey Snyder and Emily Snyder and several nieces and nephews.

    The family received friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Steven Spencer officiating. Music was under the direction of Sherry Tester.

    Graveside service and interment followed at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chad Greever, Tracy Snyder, Chuck Davenport, John Verplank, Larry Snyder, Bill Worley. Honorary Pallbearers were Jack Elswick and Jim Hutchinson.

    Judy married Alexander Schuyler Snyder on 15 Sep 1945 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee.     Charles Edward "Eddy" Nave, 56, 101 Revere Circle, Elizabethton, died unexpectedly Friday, October 4, 2002 in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, W. Va. He was a native of Johnson County and was the son of Madge Johnson Nave, Neva Community, Mountain City, and the late Worley Nave. He was a member of Pleasant View Christian Church, Neva Community and attended Elizabethton Church of Christ. Mr. Nave was employed as a service representative for the C & C X-ray Company, Knoxville, TN. Mr. Nave was a 1964 graduate of Johnson County High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
    Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Brenda McQueen Nave, of the home; a twin sister, Judy Nave, Mountain City; and a sister, Mary Nave, of Danville, Ca.; one brother-in-law, Glen McQueen, Elizabethton; his father and mother-in-law, Ivan and Jean McQueen, Elizabethton, and one nephew, Ryan McQueen, Tampa, Fla.

    NAVE -- Graveside services for Charles Edward "Eddy" Nave, 56, 101 Revere Circle, Elizabethton, who died Friday, October 4, 2002, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2002 in the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain City, TN with Mr. Eddie Craft, minister, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain City, TN. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow employees of the C & C X-Ray Company and men of the Elizabethton Church of Christ. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2002 to go in procession to the cemetery.

She was a native of Johnson County. She was the daughter of Madge Johnson Nave of the home and the late Worley Nave. She was a member of Pleasant View Christian Church and attended First Christian Church of Mountain City. She was an educator in the Johnson County School System. She was a 1964 graduate of Johnson County High School and a graduate of E.T.S.U. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Eddy Nave, Elizabethton, Tennessee; her grandparents, Charlie and Ninnie Nave and F. E. and Maude Johnson; aunts and uncles, Rebecca and Kermit Reece, Martin and Hazel Johnson, and Ohlan and Nell Rambo.

    Survivors, in addition to her mother, include one sister, Mary Nave, Danville, California; a sister-in-law, Brenda Nave, Elizabethton, Tennessee; cousins, Susie and Charles Stovall, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; their daughter Suzanne and husband John Mann and their children, Ashton and Alexis Mann; their son Chip and wife Carol Stovall, Kansas; their children Anna and Charlie Stovall, Kansas; Pat Luther, Knoxville and Bob and Grace Rambo, Virginia.

    Graveside services were conducted Monday, June 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain City, Tennessee with Dwayne Dickson and Ken Caswell officiating.

    Interment followed in the Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain City, Tennessee.

    Pallbearers were Roger Gentry and elders and deacons of the church and friends.
