    ELIZABETHTON - Mary Lowe Cole, age 93, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Steven Jacob Lowe and Lena Belle Grindstaff Lowe and was born in Carter County on January 19, 1930. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Taylor in 1973; her second husband, Arlie Cole in 2022; an infant daughter, Patricia Kay Taylor; and five siblings, Myrtle Estep, Steve Lowe, Jr., Jemema Ensor, Charlie Lowe and Wilma Williams.

    Mary was a homemaker and a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets and loved to collect tea pots.

    Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Barney Taylor (Beverley) of Middletown, OH; a daughter, Priscilla Davis (Eddie) of Elizabethton; a brother, Lonnie Lowe of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Heather (fiancé Austin Church) of Elizabethton; and a great-granddaughter, Matti Abel of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

    A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mary Lowe Cole will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 27, 2023 in the Kress Cemetery (Hurley Hollow Road) with Pastor Chris Hughes officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    Onnie Jemema Lowe Ensor, 87, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was born March 5, 1935 in Carter County to the late Steve and Belle Grindstaff Lowe.
    Jemema was a graduate of Unaka High School and a retired cook at Hunter Elementary School. She was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.
    Jemema was an avid Ladies Vols Basketball fan. She loved to sew, cook, read and most of all she loved her church.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Ensor, and by several brothers and sisters.
    Survivors include her children, Sandra (Mike) Patrick, Clarksville, Tenn., Debbie (Eric) Heaton, Amy (James) Morrell and Audra (David) Wood, all of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Brittany Heaton, Cody Cornett, Matthew (Chelsea) Wood and Chelsea Wood, and soon to be great-grandson, John Ross Wood; her sister, Mary Cole; a brother, Lonnie Lowe; several nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennie and Ruby Ensor.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with her son-in-law, Pastor Eric Heaton, and Pastor Doug Hartley officiating. Music will be provided by Joel Crisp. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, in the Kress Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday, will be James “Tank” Morrell, Matthew Wood, Shane Lowe, David Wood, Cody Cornett and Gary Morrell. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, her church family, Dr. Keith Cook and Nurse Aleshia Cuthbertson.

    ELIZABETHTON - Wilma P. Lowe Williams, 81 years old, Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at home. She was the daughter of Steve and Belle Grindstaff Lowe. Wilma retired from Iodent Chemical Company. She was a faithful member of Unaka Baptist Church, Elizabethton and the Red Hat Ladies Sunday School Class and a member of the choir. She enjoyed gardening and making apple butter with Joe and breaking beans on the carport with the family. On Sundays, you would find her cooking for her family. Everyone knew Wilma enjoyed having her dessert first. Wilma’s homemade vegetable soup was famous for helping others feel better. Her potato salad and egg salad sandwiches could be found at any church function. Wilma’s servant heart and sweet smile will be missed by all. Nana loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, even if it meant “washing their mouth out with soap” or “switching their behinds”.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe in December 2020, brothers: Clarence, Landon, Carl, Junior, Charlie and Sister, Myrtle Estep.
    She is survived by her children: Kane (Geri), and Melissa Elsea (Tim), Grandchildren: Dana Potter (Brad), Kayleigh Gouge (Ryan) and Kameron Elsea (Hannah). Great Grandchild, McKenna Gouge – whom she adored. Siblings: Mary Cole, Jemema Ensor, Lonnie Lowe. Many nieces and nephews and her two best friends, Barb Grindstaff and Kate Rodgers.
    A service to celebrate the life of Wilma Williams will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walker Roberson & Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park following the service. Music will be provided by Diane Roberson, Pianist and Christina Lewis, Soloist.
    Pallbearers will be: Tim Elsea, Kameron Elsea, Brad Potter, Ryan Gouge, Les Grindstaff and Jeff Lowe. Honorary Pallbearers: Gordon Rodgers, Red Hat Ladies Sunday School Class of Unaka Baptist Church, Friends and Neighbors in Hurley Hollow.
