    Minnie Evelyn Byrd, age 84, of Elizabethton, died Monday, May 7, 2007 in the Northside Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Raymond and Amanda Nidiffer Hyder. Mrs. Byrd was retired from Levi Strauss. She was a member of Siam Baptist Church.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold B. Lovelace; a granddaughter, Ronda M. Lovelace; four brothers, Verl, Burnett, Clay and Haskel Hyder; and a sister, Lillian Nidiffer.
    She is survived by her husband, Ralph Byrd, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Rondal C. and Elizabeth Lovelace of Johnson City; a grandson, David Lovelace, and his wife, Karen, of Kingsport; two granddaughters, Rebecca Lovelace of Greer, SC and Rachel Lovelace-Worley and her husband, David, of Bluff City; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Meghan, and Olivia Lovelace, all of Kingsport; two sisters, Lizzetta Pierce and Anna M. Singleton, both of Elizabethton; and two brothers, Jack Hyder of Elizabethton and Charles Hyder of John Day, OR. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Minnie married Arnold Benedict Lovelace on 21 Sep 1941 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Arnold (son of Tennessee Lovelace and Mary Ann Hardin) was born on 5 Jan 1919 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 20 Mar 1961 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.     Anna M. "Ann" Singleton, 93, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Ann was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Cecil and Amanda Nidiffer Hyder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Nidiffer and Evelyn Byrd, and six brothers, Clay Hyder, Burnett Hyder, Haskel Hyder, Charles Hyder, Jack Hyder and Verl Hyder.
    Ann retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 44 years of service and was a member of Siam Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics and her flowers. Most of all Ann loved being with her family.
    Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Frank E. Singleton, of the home; her son, Randy Singleton and wife Teresa, Elizabethton; her granddaughter, Laurel Singleton, Elizabethton; a sister, Lizetta Pierce, Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Faye Gould of South Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    A graveside service to celebrate the life of Anna M. "Ann" Singleton will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, in the Wilson Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Lack officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from the deacons of Siam Baptist Church, family and friends.

    Jack Hyder, 87, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016, at Hillview Health Center.
    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Cecil and Amanda Nidiffer Hyder.
    Jack was a construction worker and farmer. He was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Crowe Hyder, who died October 23, 1996.
    Survivors include two daughters, Janet Hyder, Elizabethton, and Veronica Mackara and husband Fred, Johnson City; a son, Michael Hyder and wife Shirley, of the home; three grandchildren, Amanda Davis, Jack Hyder and Brandy Hyder; six great-grandchildren, Haley, Caitlyn and Chance Pendleton, Michael and Cheyenne Hyder and Piper Abernathy; two sisters, Lizette Pierce and Ann Singleton and husband Frank; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Paulette Pierce.
    Graveside services for Jack Hyder were conducted Monday, August 15, in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Hillman officiating. Pallbearers were Michael Hyder, Dean Pierce, Lawrence Pierce, Bill Grindstaff, Kevin Campbell and Matthew Campbell.

    JOHNSON CITY - Rondal (Ron) Clay Lovelace, 78, passed away at his home in Johnson City, TN on May 23, 2021 following an extended illness. He was born to the late Arnold B. Lovelace and Evelyn Hyder Lovelace Byrd on August 30, 1942 in Carter County, TN.

    He had no blood born siblings, but a host of brothers and sisters in Siam where he grew up. His best and long-time friend since they were 4 years old, Ted Hamilton died last summer.

    Ron was a Polio survivor. He graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1960. He was an American Patriot with hopes of getting an Army commission after firing in ROTC at ETSU for 3 years. But during his last physical at Ft. Benning, GA, the effects of Polio showed up, causing the loss of that dream. He had been #1 in his class for marksmanship. Ron worked with the Carter Co. Youth Civil Air Patrol in the early 1960s. He loved working with the Boy Scouts Troup #220 teaching emergency preparedness.

    Ron was the Science Hill Band Booster President several times in the late seventies to late eighties. He was always where his children were.

    He was an Adult Sunday School teacher at Snow Memorial and filled in as Trustee of the church. Now a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. Ron was a Mason, past Johnson City Lodge and Unicoi Lodge. He was a machine designer, retiring on disability from Texas Instruments in 1992 after post Polio Syndrome took over his body in 1987.

    Ron is predeceased by his parents, daughter, Ronda Michelle Lovelace, stepfather, Ralph Byrd, brothers-in-law Ralph Saylor and Earl Saylor.

    Ron was married to the love of his life, and high school sweetheart for 58 years, 8 months, Elizabeth Ann Saylor Lovelace. He has left to cherish his memory a son, David Lovelace and wife, Karen, daughters, Rebecca Ann Lovelace and Rachel Michelle Lovelace, grandchildren, Ryan Lovelace and wife Jenifer, Megan Lovelace Hall and husband Adrian, Olivia Faith Lovelace and three great- grandchildren, Louella, Elijah and Hudson, Special niece, Elizabeth (Beth) T. Saylor of Seattle WA. whom he thought of as a daughter, special cousins, Pauletta Pierce (Lawrence), Sue Arp (Ron).

    In lieu of flowers please remember a charity of your choice or the Shriners Children’s Hospital.

    A visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5:00- 7:00PM in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, a memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jody Jenkins and Pastor John Herdman, officiating. An inurnment service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
