    HAMPTON — Hasford R. "Hass" Estep, 98, 157 Estep Road, Hampton, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Henry B. and Frances Bertie Scalf Estep. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. In his earlier years Mr. Estep played semi-pro baseball with the Valley Forge Reds that was organized in 1938, disbanded during the war years and later became the Unaka League. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

    He served in the United States Army during World War II.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Crowe Estep, December 31, 2001; by a son, Russell Estep; a great granddaughter, Ashley Younce; two sisters: Edith Estep and Sweetie Lyons; and a brother: Warren Estep.

    Survivors include a Daughter & son-in-law: Frances & Raymond Bennett, Johnson City; Four Sons & Two Daughters-In-Law: Larry & Roma Estep and Stephen, all of Hampton, Terry & Kathy Estep and Jarvis Estep, all of Elizabethton; Two Brothers: William (Bill) Estep, Elizabethton, and Earl Estep, of Johnson City; 20 Grandchildren; 32 Great Grandchildren.

    The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. It was his wish to be cremated and no services are planned.

    The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Judy Deloach and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and Mandy Ritter for all their love and support.

    Warren G. Estep, Sr., age 80, , Hampton, TN died Saturday, March 1, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Henry & Bertie Scalf Estep. Mr. Estep was a retired painter with Grandfather Mountain Incorporated. He was an avid fisherman and had received the pioneer award for co-founding the Hampton Bass Club. Mr. Estep was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He is preceded in death by an infant brother, three sisters: Lenice "Sweetie" Lyons, Edith Estep & Hildred Peeks; two grandsons: Gary Lynn Elliott & Timothy Michael White.
    Survivors include his wife, of 57 years, Esther Guinn Estep, of the home; four daughters & sons-in-law: Elizabeth & David Baldwin, Fayetteville, NC, Barbara & Donnie Elliott, Elizabethton, Sherry Estep & Mike White, Elizabethton, Patricia & J.R. Matthews, Hampton; three sons & daughters-in-law: Warren Jr. & Joyce Whitehead Estep, Hampton, Bill & Vivian Estep, Abington, VA, John & Susan Gouge Estep, Elizabethton; ten grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers: I.E. Estep, Johnson City, Hasford Estep, Hampton, & Bill Estep, Elizabethton; several nieces & nephews also survive.

    The funeral service for Warren G. Estep, Sr., age 80, , Hampton, who died on Saturday, March 1, 2003 will be conducted at 8:00 PM, Tuesday, March 4, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 5, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family & friends.

    Warren married Esther Ellen Guinn on 17 Jan 1947 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee. Esther (daughter of Herbert Arthur Guinn and May Wilson) was born on 24 Feb 1922 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 15 Sep 2015 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.     A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Henry & Bertie Scalf Estep. He was Manager of the V.F.W. Cafeteria for a number of years and was a former employee of the Bemberg Corporation. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Estep served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth Grindstaff Estep; three sisters: Hildred Peaks, Edith Estep and Lynnis Lyons; and two brothers: Hasford Estep and Warren Estep.

    Survivors include a Brother & Sister-in-Law: Earl & Ann Estep, Johnson City; Several Nieces & Nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Pallbearers and Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and Tennessee National Guard.
