    Mountain City News – A telegram was received here Monday announcing the death of Isaac Grindstaff at his home in Canada. Mr. Grindstaff was about 40 years of age. He was a native of this county, but had been away for several years. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Betty Grindstaff, and one sister, Mrs. Hugh Barry, who reside here. Funeral arrangements have not been announced pending arrival of the body home.

    ... 69, Route 1, Mountain City, died unexpectedly at her home September 23.
    A native and life-long resident of Johnson county, Mrs. Barry was a member of the Dewey Christian Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Daniel Hugh Barry; three daughters, Mrs. Rachel Greer, Avondale, Pa., Mrs. Lulu Wells, Wilmington, Del., and Mrs. Annie Wells, Landonburg, Pa.; two sons, Berlia Barry, Blountville, and Ray Barry, Mountain City; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dewey Christian Church with H. T. Mabry officiating.
    Pallbearers were Ernest Slemp, Walter Miller, Frank Harper, Arthur Wilson, Luther Nave, Ike Wilson, John Harper, and Velty Fenner.
    Burial was in Phillippi cemetery.

    Berlie A. 'Buck' Barry
    Berlie A 'Buck' Barry, age 88, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Mountain City Care Center.

    He was born on February 13, 1924 to the late Daniel Hugh Barry and Mary Alice Grindstaff Barry. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three sisters: Rachel Greer, Lulu Wells and Anna Wells. a brother, Ray Barry.

    Berlie was a 1944 graduate of Johnson County High School and a 1946 graduate of Elizabethton Business College. He founded Barry Real Estate Auction Company and after many years of service, retired from the company.

    He enjoyed working around his farm and with his cattle. He also enjoyed working in his garden with his wife Mary. Berlie was a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 F&AM and the Jericho Shrine Temple. He was a faithful member of Liberty Christian Church. Berlie loved his family and spending time with them and he will be missed by all.

    Berlie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary I. Crussell Barry; daughter, Alice Faye McCloud; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Gearlene Barry, Wayne and Vickie Barry and Joe and Pat Barry, all of Mountain City, TN; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.

    The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Minister Maurice Widener to officiate. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Carl Williams, Anthony Barry, Chaz McCracken, Jason Barry, David Pennington, Mike Eller and CJ McCloud. Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Hutchinson, Barton Hawkins, Earl Greer, Larry Mullins and Members of Liberty Christian Church. Friends may call at the home of a son Daniel Barry, 1867 Pleasant Valley Rd., Mountain City, Tn 37683.

    Burlie married Mary Iva Crussell about 1946 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Mary (daughter of William Crussell and Pearl Cross) was born on 13 Jul 1924 in Sullivan County, , , Tennessee; died on 27 Dec 2014 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Phillippi Cemetery, Highway 421, Johnson County, Tennessee.     MOUNTAIN CITY - Daniel W. Barry, age 69, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on January 17, 1947 in Mountain City, TN to the late Berlie A. Barry and Mary I. Crussell Barry.

    Daniel was a former principal at Little Milligan Elementary School until his retirement in 2001. He was one who loved genealogy and had many names on the tree. Daniel was a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 and an active member of the Dewey Christian Church.

    Daniel is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gearlene Parks Barry; sister, Alice McCloud of Johnson City, TN; brothers: Joe Barry and wife Pat and Wayne Barry and wife Vickie all of Mountain City, TN; brother-in-law, Gene Parks and wife Ann of Elk Creek, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Minister C.D. 'Bud' Gentry officiating. Special music will be provided by Mr. Fred Ramsey. Graveside Service and Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at the Phillippi Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243. Pallbearers will be Bo Henson, C.J. McCloud, Jason Barry, Chuck McCracken, Brad Gentry and Chris Pierce. Honorary pallbearers are Frankie Gentry, Dearl Swift and the Men of Dewey Christian Church.

    The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Amedisys Home Health, Dr. Robert Griffith and Dr. Emily McQueen.
