    Funeral services for Corintha Ellen Chambers, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Chambers of near Valley Forge, who died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 3:30 o'clock of complications, are scheduled to be held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the Valley Forge Christian Church. The Rev. John Matthews will be in charge. Interment will be in the Chamber's Cemetery.
    The deceased is survived by: the parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Chambers; three brothers, Ray Chambers, J. N. Chambers and Howard Dugger; five sisters, Mrs. Laura Suess, Mrs. Viola Stevens and Lillie, Ethel and Virginia Chambers and several uncles, aunts and nieces.
    Pall bearers: Coral Hathaway, Hugh Chambers, Edgar Hathaway, Roy Meredith, Harry Meredith and Carl Garrison.

    Mrs. Ethel Chambers Johnson, 84, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at her residence.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Winfield A. and Delia Arnett Chambers. Ethel was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, where she played on the girls' basketball team. She retired from Beaunit Fibers.

    She was a member of the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member of the ladies Sunday School Class and the Adult Choir.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Montie S. Johnson Sr., February 1990; four sisters: Cornthia Chambers, Laura Suess, Viola Stevens and Lillie Johnson; and three brothers: Howard Dugger, Ray Chambers and J.N. Chambers.

    Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Shannon & Pam Johnson, Elizabethton; A daughter and fiancé, Sharon Culler and Tim Timbs, Elizabethton; Five Grandchildren: Curtis and his wife, Hillary Johnson, and Christie Johnson, all of Denver, Colorado, Nicholas, Kala and Kelli Culler, Elizabethton; Two Great Grandchildren: Connor Johnson and Reece Culler and Mother, Amy Peters; One Sister: June Ellis Telleen, Elizabethton; One Sister-in-Law: Betty Lou Chambers, Elizabethton; And one very special friend and neighbor, Frankie Woodby.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Mill Pond Road. Music will be provided by the Praise Choir, Ben Johnson and Pat Ray.

    Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:55 p.m. Thursday and also at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday, will be: Carl Roberson, Joel Elijah, Larry McKinney, Sam Harrison, Sam Ellis, Bobbie Collins and Bobby McGee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buck Johnson, Steve Chambers, Tim Chambers, Mark Smith, Dennis Ellis, Jeff Stout, Joel Kress, Phillip Suess, Leroy Johnson, Dusty Woodby, Wesley Woodby, Phil Carpenter, Eric Stephens, Jimmy Stevens and her church family.

    Her special friends include: Connie and Jackie Roberts, Betty Jo and George Green Jr., Melody Carpenter, Dottie Stout, Suzanne Berry, Judy Hatley, Elaine Smith, Shelia Ellis, Linda Hopson, Dr. Vivian Clark and Judy Deloach.

    The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.

    Winnie E. Mann, age 90, 220 Dawn Drive, Elizabethton died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah McKinney Arnett. She was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Mann was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton Mann, 1998, one brother, Joe Arnett and one sister, Goldie Taylor. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie and Jeanette Mann, Elizabethton, Kenneth and Joyce Mann, Elizabethton, Jerry and Velma Mann, Churchill, TN, two sisters, Nell Long, Shady Valley, TN, Dot Evans, Winter Park, FL, eight grandchildren, Teresa Treadway, Elizabethton, Lisa Germaine, Elizabethton, Carolyn Ledford, Piney Flats, Kim Miller, Elizabethton, Paula Hall, Elizabethton, Terry Mann, Johnson City, Wendy Arnold, Churchill, TN, Timothy Mann, Churchill, TN, thirteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, several cousins, special friends, Phyllis and Lloyd Presnell, Elizabethton, Alice Rash, Elizabethton, Ruby Williams, Elizabethton, several other special friends and neighbors also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004 at Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Darrell Holly and Rev. Clate Briggs officiating.     JOHNSON CITY — Ben Freeland Arnett fell asleep in death on Saturday, July 16, 2016.

    He was 91 years old and born January 5, 1925 in Hampton, TN. He was the son of William E. Arnett and Dovey S. Burleson of Johnson City, TN. He was one of eleven children.

    He was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

    He is survived by his daughter, Carole Yvonne Ross, husband Ken of Jonesborough, TN; his son, Danny Freeland Arnett, wife Marty of Hilton Head Island, SC; brother, Lloyd Arnett of Orlando, FL; sister, Ruth Burgess of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Thelma McPherson of Orlando, FL. He had 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He also had many nieces and nephews.

    He served in the Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Stadtfeld Destroyer Escort in the Pacific. Ben worked many years as a gifted builder and craftsman in Orlando, FL and Johnson City, TN. He was loved by all who knew him, and will be remembered for his easy going nature and gentle ways. He will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends.

    The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Bridge Healthcare Center for their loving care and attention in his final days.

    There has been a private gathering of the family in his memory.

    PINEY FLATS - Marvin Ray "Buck" Johnson, Sr., 74, of 571 North Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

    Mr. Johnson was born on November 9, 1942, in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Cursey and Lillie Chambers Johnson.

    He was an active member of the Piney Flats First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Before his illness he was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the church choir, worked with the youth, was on the youth committee, helped with the children's choir and drove the van for the senior citizens.

    He graduated from Hampton High School in 1960 and received his B. S. Degree in Mathematics and Education from Milligan College in 1964. He received his Master's Degree and forty-five hours plus from East Tennessee State University. In June of 1993 he retired from the Sullivan County School System with thirty years of service of which twenty years were served as Assistant Principal at Sullivan Central High School. Until his illness he was Recycling Coordinator for Sullivan County and served on many state committees.

    Mr. Johnson was a former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #4 of Piney Flats. He was also a past President of the Piney Flats Ruritan Club.

    He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially fishing. He also liked watching baseball and boxing.

    Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of over fifty-three years, whom he married on June 27, 1964; Betty Osborne Johnson; one son, Marvin Ray Johnson, Jr.; one sister, Janice Sue Rash and husband, Carl "Buddy" Rash, of Bristol, TN and two nephews, Chris Rash and Greg Rash of Bristol, TN.

    A service to honor the life of Mr. Johnson will be conducted on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 8:00 PM at the Piney Flats First Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Davis and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the church prior to the service on Monday and any time at the residence.

    The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in the Edgefield Cemetery in Piney Flats, Tennessee. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Johnson, Chris Rash, Greg Rash, Bobby Osborne I, Bobby Osborne II, Eddie Sams, Dean Torbett, Dr. Harold Alison, J.C. Swonger and Bill Burry. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Stevens, Carl "Buddy" Rash, Jim Sanders, Hiram Rash, Larry Crowe, Larry Stevens, Bobby Mayberry, Lucian Lawson, William Rash, Joe Pearce, Lee Cole, Rev. Frank Osborne, Dr. Paul Brown, Jr., Darrell Bryant, Hank Hare, Jeremy Blevins, Jon White, Bryan Mason, his classmates of Hampton High School and the men of Piney Flats First Baptist Church.

    Mr. Jimmie Dale "Paw Jim" Mann, 74, 222 Little Stoney Creek Road, Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Now he is cruising on the streets of gold!


    Mr. Mann was the son of the late Dayton James and Winnie Arnett Mann and was a native of Carter County. He was a member of the Hunter Memorial Baptist Church and an honorary member of Fountain of Life Bible Church. He was retired from Great Lakes Research as a welder and had also retired from American Bemberg. He was also a member of the Carter County Car Club.


    Mr. Mann is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Janette Bowers Mann of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Teresa Treadway, Elizabethton; Lisa and Dan Germaine, Elizabethton; Carolyn and Dennis Ledford, Jr. Piney Flats; eight grandchildren, Brandon Treadway, Brian Treadway, Kent Germaine, United States Air Force and his wife Kim; Spc. Kyle Germaine, United States Army, and his wife, Heather, Kurt Germaine, Neil Ledford, Allison Ledford and Jared Ledford; two great-grandchildren, Yasmin Treadway and Savion Lytton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Mann, Elizabethton; Jerry and Velma Mann, Church Hill and a special sweetheart, Sandra K. Cederborg, Baltimore, MD. Several nieces and nephews also survive.


    The funeral service for Mr. Mann will be conducted on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, Elizabethton with Dr. Vic Young and Mr. Gerald Holly officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sue Bowers and Dan Germaine. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday prior to the service and at the residence at other times.


    The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Gerald Holly, officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and Wayne Cagle. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Arnett, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Dr. Jason Hatjioannou, Dr. Louis Collier Jordan, members of the Carter County Car Club and J.D. Anderson. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the charity of their choice.

    ELIZABETHTON - Kenneth Gene Mann, 85, Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at his residence. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Dayton James & Winnie Ellen Arnett Mann. Kenneth was a 1954 graduate of Elizabethton High School, he also had classes at University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University. He served in the United States Army and the National Guard. He was an instructor for 20 years at North East State. He loved to fly and was a private Pilot for years. Kenneth was an avid UT Fan and NASCAR Fan. He loved to attend the Car shows and riding his Motorcycle and farm his family land. He was a former Airport Commissioner and a member of the Elizabethton Elks Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Jimmy Mann. Kenneth was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.

    Survivors include his wife of sixty years: Joyce Hardin Mann. His Daughters: Kimberly (Carl) Miller, and Paula (Donnie)Hall. Two Grandchildren: Chelsie Maupin and Abby (Andrew) Martin. Three Great Grandchildren: Gracie & Carly Jo Maupin and Kenna Kyte. One Brother: Jerry (Velma) Mann. Several nieces & nephews. His special furry companion: Whiskers.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, Minister and Chaplain Chris Hughes officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday will be: Terry Mann, Tim Mann, Carl Miller, Jr., Donnie Hall, Andrew Martin and Terry Grindstaff. Honorary Pallbearers will be his longtime friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of Amedisys Hospice, Kim Nielson, APN Medical Care and his care givers for the excellent care he received during his illness.     Neil Thomas Ledford, age 28, of Bristol, Virginia, went home to meet his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 5th, 2022. Neil was born in Johnson City, Tennessee to Carolyn (Mann) Ledford Good of Elizabethton, Tennessee and the late Dennis Edward Ledford Jr. Tennessee. In addition to his father, Neil is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jimmie Dale Mann, and his step grandfather, James Simpson.

    Neil was a faithful friend, with a kind, loving spirit and a very giving heart. He was good natured, funny, and loved his family very much, always making sure that they were taken care of and had what they needed.

    From a young age, Neil displayed a wonderful work ethic and an interest in electronics, spending one summer working with NASA’s INSPIRE Nanotechnology Research program in San Juan, Puerto Rico through the STEM program at Oklahoma State University. After high school, Neil went on to work with the Avionics Department at Bell Helicopter, earning a five year achievement medal for his exceptional work and dedication.

    Neil loved photography and had a lifelong passion for fast cars, participating in local cars shows as an active member of Tri-Cities Cars and Coffee Club After Dark with his own Dodge Charger. He was also a member of Civil Air Patrol, graduating as a Cadet Major, and was a member of Celebration Church. In his spare time, Neil also enjoyed geology and hiking.

    Those left to remember and cherish Neil’s memory include his mother, Carolyn Ledford Good and her husband Sean Good, of Elizabethton; his sister, Allison Ledford Davies and her husband Harry Davies, of Kingsport; his brother, Jared Ledford, of Jonesborough; his grandparents, Janette Mann, of Elizabethton, Jana Simpson, of Johnson City, and Dennis Ledford Sr. and his wife, Donna Graybeal Ledford, of Gray; his uncle, Dale Ledford, of Johnson City; and his aunts, Teresa Treadway, Lisa Germaine, and her husband Dan Germaine, all of Elizabethton; and Jennifer Ledford France and her husband Dean, of Jonesborough. Several other extended family members also survive.

    A service to honor and celebrate Neil’s life and memory will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton, Tennessee with Pastor Robert Russell of Celebration Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.

    The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Josh Banks of Shepherd’s Rock Bible Church officiating. Active pallbearers will be Harry Davies, Chris Birchfield, Tim Compton, Caleb Meade, Dale Ledford, and Kurt Germaine. Neil’s friends and coworkers from Bell Helicopter will serve as honorary pallbearers.
