Mary Belle (Buck) Orr, 87, John-son City, passed away Wed-nes-day, May 13, 2015, at Frank-lin Woods Com-mu-nity Hos-pi-tal.
A na-tive of the Shell Creek Com-mu-nity of Roan Moun-tain in Carter County, she was the daugh-ter of the late Wil-liam David and Ada Ray Hoss Buck. Mrs. Orr was a mem-ber of Wes-ley Me-mo-rial United Meth-od-ist Church and the Duard Aldridge Sun-day School Class. She worked as a sec-re-tary for Clutch and Brake Sup-ply in John-son City for over 20 years.
In ad-di-tion to her par-ents, Mary is pre-ceded in death by her hus-band of 55 years, Wil-liam Brown-low Orr; seven sis-ters, Florence Wolfe, Wilma Farmer, Juanita Ar-nett, Ge-neva Rich-ard-son, Eleanor McKin-ney, Edna Buck and Ruth Cord-ell; and four broth-ers, James Buck, Ed-die Buck, Wil-liam David Buck Jr. and Ver-non Buck.
Those left to cher-ish her mem-ory in-clude two sons, Wil-liam David Orr and his wife, Diane Under-wood Orr, of Al-pharetta, GA, and Phi-lip Kent Orr and his wife, Jen-ni-fer Tor-bett Orr, of Char-lotte, NC; grand-chil-dren, Jen-ni-fer Orr McGuffey and her hus-band, Jef-frey Wil-liam McGuffey, of Cin-cin-nati, OH, Wil-liam An-drew Orr and his wife, Eliz-a-beth Low-ery Orr, of Green-ville, SC, and Ash-ley Lau-ren Orr, of Al-pharetta, GA; great-grand-chil-dren, Hunter Wil-liam McGuffey and Ans-ley By-ing-ton Orr; brother-in-law John Orr and his wife, Phyl-lis, of Roan Moun-tain, TN; sis-ters-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Street, of John-son City, TN, Mrs. Ruth Hon-ey-cutt, of Happy Val-ley, TN, and Mrs. Francis Ta-tum, of Elk Park, NC; and many much loved nieces and neph-ews.

Howard B. Buck, 88, of Elizabethton, who would have been 89 on Thursday, September 21, 2017, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Hermitage Health Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Earnest and Olive Johnson Buck.
Howard was a graduate of Cloudland High School. He was retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 35 years of service and was also a carpenter. He was a member of the Carter County Hunting & Fishing Association. He was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Strickland Buck; a son, Benny Buck; and a sister, Dora Shell.
Survivors include his daughter, Lucy Smith, Elizabethton; his grandsons, Nicholas Buck and David Smith, both of Elizabethton; his great-grandsons, Cameron and Mason Buck; his sister, Billie Grindstaff, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews including a special niece and nephew, Bobbie and Larry Shell; his good friend, James "Speck" Smith; and his dog, Brutus.
The graveside service for Howard B. Buck will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. John McCurry officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Beatrice Buck Roberts, 88, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Ms. Roberts was of a native of Banner Elk, N.C., but had lived in her later years in Newland, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Chester Arthur and Mary Ann Oaks Buck and was preceded in death by her brother, James "Jim" C. Buck, and sister-in-law, Jacquelyn Troutman Buck of Harrisburg, N.C.
Ms. Roberts was retired from the Avery CAP Program of Appalachian Healthcare Systems and had worked several years at Grandfather Golf and Country Club of Linville, N.C.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Kelly Roberts, Hampton, Tenn.; a beloved grandson, Jonah Roberts, Roan Mountain, Tenn.; a step-grandson, Cale Ensor, Telford, Tenn.; cherished nephew and wife, James David and Lydia Buck, Harrisburg, N.C.; adored great-nephew and wife, James Jeremiah and Jill Buck, Charlotte, N.C.; great-nephew and wife, David Isaac and Gretchen Buck, Raleigh, N.C.; a great-niece, Rebekah Elizabeth Buck, Charlotte, N.C.; a grand dog, "Gus"; two first cousins, Ms. Roberts thought of as sisters, Kat Shell Church, Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Pat Shell Testerman, Harrisburg, N.C. Kat was tireless in her devotion to Bea and her love for her will not be forgotten.
A special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, who treated Ms. Roberts as family throughout her residence there. A special thank you for the kindness showed by the First Church of the Nazarene of Elizabethton for the visits with Ms. Roberts.
Ms. Roberts requested no services for her and often stated she preferred visits when she was alive and not after her passing. Ms. Roberts will be cremated and has left specific instructions for dispersal of the ashes with her son.

HAMPTON - Bill Pearce, age 88, of Hampton, Tennessee went home to join his loved ones and his Lord on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton. Bill was born in Carter County on January 6, 1935, a son of the late William A Pearce and Mabel L. (Buck) Pearce. In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Jean (Malone) Pearce; two sisters, Julia Ann Pearce and Brenda Littleford; and his brother, Earl Pearce.

Bill was well known and liked by his community and had owned and operated Hampton Mobile Home Parts and Supplies for many years. He enjoyed his work and the people he met and befriended. Bill attended Bethel Church and enjoyed traveling when he could. Most of all, Bill loved his family greatly and enjoyed every moment spent with them.

Those left to remember and cherish Bill’s memory include his sons, Charles (Debi) Pearce and Kelvin Pearce; his grandchildren, Megan Pearce of Cape Coral, Florida and Nathan (Chas) Pearce of Woburn, MA; his great grandchildren, Cadence Pearce and Cale Pearce; one sister, Betty Jean Hunter of Marietta, GA; three sisters-in-law, Brenda Pearce of Bristol, TN, Dale Malone, Gray and Jane Malone, Elizabethton; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Bill Pearce will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor Charles Pearce officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday. Music will be under the direction of the family.

The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Mr. Richard Jack Collins, age 80, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 in Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late O.B. "Shorty" and Anna Mae Guess Collins. Mr. Collins worked as a supervisor in the cutting department of East TN Undergarment for thirty-six years. He attended Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church and he was a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. Richard enjoyed a life time of riding and training "trick" horses. He also looked forward to spending time with the many horse owners and friends who stopped by the barn everyday.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Eric Collins. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Nadine Collins, of the home; a brother, Gerald Wayne "Pete" Collins and his wife Millie, Elizabethton; his children and their spouses, Gary and Gail Collins, Johnson City, Larry and Trish Collins, Asheville, NC, Patricia and Larry Powell, Kim Sams and special friend Dave Sandora, David Collins and fiancé Shari and Dwight and Aylitta Collins, all of Elizabethton; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for Mr. Richard Jack Collins will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Larry Collins and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Eulogy will be given by David Collins. Music will be under the direction of Clarence Sheffield and Joey Hilbert. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service or at the residence at any time.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Ronnie Edwards officiating. Active pallbearers will be Don Merritt, Larry Powell, Dave Sandora, Freddie Julian, John Wayne Collins, Jonathan Collins and Roy Ball. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Merritt, Steve Markland, Keith Carr, Keith Ingram, Eston and Nell Treadway, Jerry and Ann Carr, Jerry and Irene Reed, Paul Sellers, John and Noreen Allen, Ricky and Rita Darnell, Randy and Nancy, Kayo and Betty Gentry, Carl Roberson, Clarence Sheffield, Charles Morton, Dr. Robert and Beth Grindstaff and the many horse owners and friends that he loved to "loafer" with. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 A.M. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

ROAN MOUNTAIN - Larry R. Shell, age 72, of Roan Mountain went home to be with the Lord following an extended illness Friday, April 30, 2021 at Johnson City Medical Center. Larry was born in Elizabethton to the late Lacy and Dora Buck Shell.

Larry was a hard worker, who loved his family. He worked at TPI for many years and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge #566. His favorite hobbies were camping and woodworking. The things he enjoyed most were listening to bluegrass music, gardening and visiting with his many friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra Kay Shell; sister, Bobbie Shell; son, Richard Shell (Chandrea); and grandson, Dalton Shell, all of Roan Mountain.

A visitation to memorialize the life of Larry Shell will be conducted from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church, Morgan Branch Road, Roan Mountain. A private family committal will be held at a later date.
