Mrs. Cozie Ellen Hyder, Elizabethton, peacefully went to her heavenly home on June 6, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Judy Milhorn. She was born on Beech Mountain, N.C., to Joseph and Sarah Parlier on May 13, 1923. She had nine brothers and sisters. She moved to Elizabethton and married Fred Hyder Sr. on July 21,1945.
Mrs. Hyder was a member of Doe River Baptist Church. She loved to play checkers.
She is survived by daughter, Judy Milhorn and husband Byron; sons, Fred Hyder Jr. and wife Sandra and Joe Hyder and wife Judy; sister, Lou Martinelli; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held for Mrs. Hyder at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Greg Largent officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Mrs. Florence Parlier Cook, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at her home in Winston-Salem.

She was born Nov. 7, 1929, in beautiful Beech Mountain, NC. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Joseph and Sarah Parlier; six Brothers: Cluster, Finley, Spurgeon, Elliott, Sanford and twin Lawrence, and a Sister: Irene. Mrs. Cook was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church and loved her family. She and Bill raised their children in church teaching them to trust Jesus for all things. Everyone was blessed by knowing her. Through the years, she became Mom to many that had lost their mother. She will be missed. The family wants to thank Dr. Stephen Hux and his staff at Arcadia Family Practice for 30 years of attentive and genuine care.


Surviving are her Husband of 70 years: Bill Cook; her Children: Larry Cook (Wanda), Kathy Chapman (Donnie), Connie Miller (Gordon), Karen Lanier (Phil) and Pam McDowell; her Grandchildren: Barry, Dawn, Teressa, Matthew, Wendy, Nick, Brad, Amy, Sarah and Grace; 14 Great grandchildren; two Sisters: Cozie and Lue. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Pastor Mark Reed and Gordon Miller officiating. The family received friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. A private family graveside service was held at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Martha Bell Greer, 93, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton.
A native of Avery County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Cloyd H. and Mary Harmon Parlier. She had lived in Elizabethton for several years.
Mrs. Greer worked at Milligan College in the Dinning Department for several years. She was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church. She loved to quilt, sew and loved to travel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan E. Greer; a daughter, Selma Greer; four brothers, Clint, Earnest, Rubin and Troy; and a sister, Sally.
Survivors include her children, Wanda Sue Greer Jones and husband Ray, Fleetwood, N.C., and Daryl E. Greer and wife Lois, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Cynthia Y. Jones Cooper, Martha Greer, Anna Marie Lunsford, Daniel "Danny" Jones and Douglas Greer; four great-grandchildren, Emma Greer, Gracie Greer, Tyler Lunsford and McKenzie Lunsford; and a sister, Carrie Laws, Boone, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Martha Bell Greer will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, April 9, at True Gospel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Presnell and the Rev. Charles Cable officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Beech Mountain, N.C. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton.

Mr. Ernest Edward Parlier, 76, of Old Beech Mountain, Elk Park, N.C., died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center, after a long illness.

He was born Feb. 5, 1927 in Avery County, the son of the late Cloyd and Mary Harmon Parlier.

Mr. Parlier was a Deacon at Fall Creek Baptist Church and a retired carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Langendorfer Parlier; one son, Vernon Parlier and wife, Susan, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two daughters, Judy Loudermelt and husband, Dan, of Mill Springs, N.C.; and Nancy Johnson and husband, Bob, of Newland, N.C.; two brothers, Clint Parlier of Newfane, N.Y. and Troy Parlier of Olcott, N.Y.; two sisters, Martha Belle Greer of Elizabethton, Tenn. and Carrie Laws of Boone, N.C.; and ten granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Reuben Parlier; and one sister, Sally Parlier.

Services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Fall Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Reuben Parlier, Jr. and the Rev. Jacob Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Fall Creek Cemetery.

Allen Coy Parlier, 69, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Elizabethton, he was the son of the late James Elliott and Georgia Bowers Parlier.
Mr. Parlier was a retired painter. He was a member of Sunset Freewill Baptist Church, Roan Mountain, where he loved attending and his church family. He also enjoyed trading cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, David Parlier, and four brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Florence Parlier, of the home; also residing in his home, Alex, Tiffany and Candace; three sons, Allen Parlier, Johnny Parlier and Edward Parlier, all of North Carolina; a daughter, Pam Holtsclaw, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren, Nikki, Alex, Tiffany, Candace, Josh, Christopher, Jacob, Eddie and Destiny; four great-grandchildren, Trinity, Christopher, Layla and Adlin; two sisters, Tabatha Lackey of North Carolina and Vickie Harrell, Elizabethton; and seven brothers, Roy Parlier, Norman Parlier and Sonny Parlier, all of Elizabethton, Steve Parlier, Timmy Parlier, Ricky Parlier and Bobby Parlier, all of North Carolina.
A service to honor the life of Allen Coy Parlier will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 8, at Sunset Freewill Baptist Church, Roan Mountain, with Pastor Terry Richardson and Pastor Phillip Coffey officiating. Music will be under the direction of the church choir. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, or friends may also call at his residence on Fork Mountain Road, Roan Mountain, or at the residence of a brother, Sonny Parlier, Rocky Branch Road, Elizabethton, at other times. Interment will follow the funeral service on Sunday in the Largent Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be David Blevins, Dustin Parlier, Little Sonny Parlier, Josh Lackey, Mikey Parlier and Melvin Parlier. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Parlier and Johnny Parlier.
