    Corda G. Hyatt, 93, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, from the home of her daughter, Helen Hyatt White, following an extended illness.

    She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Walter and Goldie Irick Greer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Hyatt; a son, James Hyatt; a sister, Dot Greer; four brothers, Ned, Ray, Bob and Dan Greer; and two grandsons, James Hyatt Jr. and Ezra Cruthers.

    Ms. Hyatt was a retired janitor for the Valley Forge Christian Church, having served for over forty years, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and loved making quilts and sewing.

    Survivors include a daughter, Helen Hyatt White and husband, Greg, Elizabethton; one son, Roy Hyatt, Elizabethton; one sister, Chloe Fleenor, Mountain City, TN; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and Sandy Vestal, whom she cared for and considered her family. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    The funeral service for Ms. Hyatt will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2013, in the Valley Forge Christian Church with Mr. David Siebenaler, Minister, and Mr. H. Clay Bailey, Minister, officiating.

    The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, or at her residence in Valley Forge at anytime.

    The graveside service will follow in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from the Elders and Deacons of Valley Forge Christian Church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Valley Forge Christian Church.

    Mr. Greer was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Walter
    and Goldie Irick Greer. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Greer,
    and two brothers.
    Mr. Greer was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church and a former Sunday
    School teacher for the Old Men's Fellowship Class. He was a retired
    self-employed painter and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War
    II.
    Survivors include his wife, Betty Dugger Greer, of the home; three
    daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol and Loyd Greer, Elizabethton, Nona
    Gilbert and Randy Gruntzel, Newport, and Kathy Garrison, Spring City; two
    sons and a daughter-in-law, Teddy and Evelyn Greer and Jerry Greer, all of
    Elizabethton; a brother, Ray Greer, Elizabethton; and three sisters, Cordie
    Hyatt, Elizabethton, Dottie Greer, Johnson City, and Chloe Fleenor, Mountain
    City. Nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and
    nephews also survive.

    GREER -- Funeral services for Ned T. "Pap" Greer, 81, 253 Rome Hollow
    Road, Elizabethton, who died Friday, July 12, 2002, will be conducted at
    8 p.m. Monday, July 15, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home
    with the Rev. Richard Estep and the Rev. H. Brooks Peters officiating.
    Music will be under the direction of Amy Moore. Graveside services and
    interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Dugger
    Cemetery, Sugar Grove Community, Johnson County. Active pallbearers will
    be selected from grandsons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will

    Mr. Greer was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Walter
    and Goldie Irick Greer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
    death by his wife, Mary Rosie Parlier Greer, three brothers, Dan Greer,
    Bob Greer and Ned Greer, and a sister, Dottie Greer.

    Mr. Greer was a member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church and a retired
    employee of East Tennessee Chair Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran,
    having served in World War II.

    Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Evans, Hickory, N.C., and Joyce
    Wilson, Elizabethton; a son, Paul Greer, Winter Park, Fla.; and two
    sisters, Cordie Hyatt, Elizabethton, and Chloe Fleenor, Mountain City.
    Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and
    nephews also survive.

    The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 13,
    in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Potter and
    Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of
    Gail Campbell, soloist. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial
    Park. Active pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of Beck
    Mountain Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and
    granddaughters, Ray Evans, Richard Wilson, Joshua Greer, Leigh Ann Riddle,
    Lacy Moore and Lisa Wilson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8
    p.m. Friday, November 12, at the funeral home. Those who prefer memorials

    JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Chloe Greer Fleenor, age 89, of Johnson City, completed her life journey and ascended to Heaven on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 after a long period of declining health.

    She moved to Johnson City four years ago to be closer to her children, but lived most of her life in the Mountain City and Butler communities.

    Mrs. Fleenor was a daughter of the late Walter Grady Greer and Golda Irick Greer. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Ned, Dan, Ray and Bob; and two sisters, Corda Hyatt and Dottie M. Greer.

    Mrs. Fleenor was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and was currently attending services at Centerview Church of Christ. She also participated in a weekly Bible class at Mekkah's Meadows, led by Tim Hall, minister of Central Church of Christ. She enjoyed making cookies for Bible school, as well as for her neighbors at Mekkah's Meadows. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and tending her flowers. She made numerous afghans for family and friends, as well as baby blankets.

    Mrs. Fleenor was a retired employee of Shadowline in Boone, N.C.

    Mrs. Fleenor is survived by a son, Monte D. Fleenor and his wife, Frances, of Elizabethton; a daughter, Karen L. Fleenor and husband Charlie, of Johnson City; a special niece, Carolyn Greer. Several nieces and nephews also survive, as well as her church family. She encouraged her children to achieve and to be the best they could be.

    A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Chloe Greer Fleenor will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Tony Hoss, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.

    The graveside service will follow at the Walnut Mountain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    The family would like to extend thank to Hillview Health and Rehab Center, where she was undergoing rehabilitation from a stroke, for their attentive care. Thanks as well, to residents of Mekkah's Meadows and Candace Marra, for their kindness and friendship.

    Zola Jane Reece Wolfe, age 95, of Bristol, Tenn., entered the presence of Jesus on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the Cambridge House.
    She was born June 17, 1924 in Trade, Tenn., a daughter of the late Asa and Ida Reece, and had lived in Bristol since 1943. She was a member of East End Christian Church since 1944. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Fred B. Wolfe: their daughters, Barbara Stark and Penny Holbrook; and her sister, Eula Milligan, all of Bristol; her grandson, Matthew Stark, and 11 half-brothers and sisters.
    She is survived by her sons, Freddie "Joe" Wolfe; and daughter-in-law, Anna Lee and Jerry B. Wolfe, both of Bristol, VA: son-in-law, Dennis Holbrook of Bristol, Tenn.. grandson, Gray Holbrook of Keller, Texas; great grandchildren, Brady Holbrook, Kendal Holbrook and Izzie Holbrook; and nephews, Daryl Milligan and Gerald Milligan.
    A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2019, at Mountain View Cemetery with Bro. Paul Young officiating.

    Eula Reece Milligan, 83, of Bristol, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at NHC in Bristol, Virginia, while recovering from a broken hip. She was born in Trade, Tenn., on August 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Asa and Ida Greer Reece. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harry Eugene Milligan. She spent her childhood in Trade, Tenn., and moved to Bristol, Va. in 1946. Doing things for her family and other people made her the happiest. She dearly loved her granddaughter. She was a member of West Hills Christian Church and loved her church family. She was a past member and Noble Grand of Twin City Rebekah Lodge #102. Eula is survived by her two sons, Darryl Milligan and wife, Katie of Bristol, Va., and Gerald Milligan of Lewisville, N.C.; one grandchild, Kinzel Milligan; one sister, Zola Wolfe of Bristol, Va.; one sister-in-law, Sarah Akers of Norton, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Blevins Funeral Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, Va. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Gary Knapp officiating the chapel service.     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ricky and Jerry Greer.

    Mr. Greer retired from Gardner Paint Services, where he was employed as a painter for 33 years. He was a member of North Side Baptist Church and liked to fish.

    Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Evelyn Price Greer, of the home; two daughters, Karen Bates and husband Johnny, Elizabethton, and April Bascal, Athens, TN; three sons, Johnny Greer and wife Patti, Piney Flats, TN, Christopher Greer, Elizabethton, and Hosea Greer, of the home; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Carolyn Greer, Kathy Greer, and Nona Gilbert, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A celebration of life service for Mr. Teddy D. Greer will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 3, 2015, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. John Perkins, Jr. and Rev. Mike Dickenson, officiating.

    The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday.

    Maxine Jeanette Reece Michael passed into eternal rest on December 5, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at Hermitage Health Center in Elizabethton, Tennessee. A faithful servant of the Lord, she has completed her course with the race won.

    The eldest of nine children, she was born on October 22, 1935, in Shady Valley to the late Martin L. Reece and the late Wilma Heaton Reece. She grew up in Trade, Tennessee.

    She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Michael. She was also preceded by her second husband, Andy Price. Her son, Robert B. Michael, and brothers, Freddie Reece, Jerry Reece, Johnnie Reece, Tommie Reece, and Eugene Reece also precede her.

    She is survived by a large, loving family: Her children, Hazel (John) Hollaway, Cathy (Ernest Ray) Michael, Marty (Karen Horne) Michael, Joy (Brenden) Michael Bohannon, and daughter-in-law Althea Michael; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; Brothers Gary (Roseletta) Reece, Bill (Glenda) Reece, sister Margaret (Larry) Wallace, sisters-in-law Carolyn Reece, Phyllis Reece, and Elaine Reece and a great number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was especially close to her grandchildren Madalyn, Lauryn, Kristyn, and Cormac.

    During her life Maxine filled a number of roles, among them: homemaker, a worker in the bean fields when Mountain City was the Green Bean Capitol of the World, keeping boarders while her young family lived in Pennsylvania, cleaning for individuals and businesses in Oregon and Tennessee, as well as the Mountain City and Trade Post Offices, operating a variety store in the Old Trade School, working at both Burlington and Leco, making and selling beautiful quilts, and was a contract mail carrier for many years. She took great joy and pride in hard work and a job well done, but the roles of which she was most proud was being a mother and grandmother.

    She became a Christian at Centerview Church of Christ in Trade and was a member of First Christian Church of Mountain City for decades. She maintained a card ministry for the Joy Class at FCC until dementia stole her ability to do so.

    Maxine was a voracious reader throughout most of her life. She was an avid gardener known for her beautiful yard on North Church Street. She loved every baby she ever saw, she never met a Little Debbie cake she didn’t like, and made the absolute best potato soup and cornbread that anyone has ever had.

    A viewing for all immediate and extended family members will be from 11:00 to 11:30 AM on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Mountain City Funeral Home. A service led by Pastor Dwayne Dickson will be held from 11:30-12:30 with interment at Sunset Memorial Park following. Pallbearers are Marty Michael, John Hollaway, Peyton Hollaway, David Hollaway, Brenden Bohannon, and Ernest Ray.

    Hope Reece, age 68 of Trade, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Watauga Medical Center. Hope was born on October 30, 1952 to the late Bruce Reece and Willie Canter Proffitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lynda Greene, Cynthia Lipford, and brothers, Sherry Reece, Wayne Reece, David Reece, and Norman Reece.

    Hope was very spirited and charismatic. She was an incredibly strong woman who endured more than most could and more than anyone should. She also adored her little dog named Trouble.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Kimberly Barnett; granddaughters, Brooklyn Hope Barnett, and her partner in crime, Halei Reid Barnett; sisters, Audrey Faith Thomas, Charity Jane Reece; brother, Joe Reece; several nieces, nephews and special friends; and a special mention to Audrey for always being there for her.

    Hope will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Reece Cemetery on Bulldog Road in Trade.
