    Notes:

    Mildred Buchanan McCall, age 94, of Butler, formerly of Hampton, went home to be with the Lord at the home of her daughter on Monday, March 24, 2014, following an extended illness.
    She was the daughter of the late Clarence & Mary Sparks Calhoun and was born in the Linville Falls Community of Avery County, N.C.
    Mildred retired from Unilever Corporation and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of First Christian Church in Elizabethton and a fifty year member of the Tennessee Order of the Eastern Star #163 Sycamore Chapter.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fin G. Buchanan; her second husband, Robert "Bob" McCall; a son, David Buchanan; four brothers; and one sister.
    Survivors include one daughter, Catherine Johnson and husband, Howard, of Butler; one son, Michael Buchanan and wife, Eleanor, Frankfort, IL; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Dimple Stine, Johnson City, and Bea Campbell; and one brother, Gene Calhoun. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at First Christian Church in Elizabethton.
    A service to honor Mildred's life will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, Minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Niles & Lena Onks and Gene Estep.
    The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service on Wednesday at the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery in Hampton. Active pallbearers will be Michael Buchanan, James Buchanan, Niles Onks, Adam Savicz, Dwayne Calhoun and John Clawson. Woodhall Young will serve as honorary pallbearer.
    The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Judy Matthews and Jennifer Clawson for the love and care shown to Mildred during her illness.

    BUTLER — Catherine D. Buchanan Johnson, age 64, of Butler, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 14, 2016.

    Catherine was born in Carter County to the late Fin G. Buchanan and Mildred Calhoun Buchanan McCall.

    In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, David Buchanan; and her step father, Bob McCall.

    Catherine was a registered nurse, specializing in Emergency Medicine and Nursing Management. She had worked locally with the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and Mountain States Health Alliance. Her nieces and nephews were very special to her and she loved to shop with them whenever the opportunity arose. She and her husband, Howard, are both members of First Methodist Church in Elizabethton. She also served as Chaplin for the Order of the Eastern Star and was a graduate of Culinary School. In addition to shopping, she enjoyed cooking and crafting.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 36 years, Howard W. Johnson, of the home; a brother, Michael Buchanan and wife Eleanor, of Frankfort, Illinois; her step children, Rob Johnson, of Ohio, Jennifer Maryanski, of Knoxville, Michael Johnson, of Indiana, and Rebecca Swing, of Wisconsin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Catherine D. Buchanan Johnson will be conducted at 12:30 PM on Monday, July 18, 2016, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Niles and Lena Onks. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Monday.

    The graveside service will follow in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery in Hampton. Active pallbearers will be her nephews and step sons. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Mountain Home Construction.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to her special friends and care givers, Jennifer Clawson and Judy Matthews for the love and care they gave to Catherine during her illness.
