    DAN VINES
    Dan Vines, 58 years old, a resident of Powder Branch, passed away this morning at his home at 4:15 after an illness of the past years. He and his family moved to Powder Branch a year ago, coming from Fish Springs where they had resided for the past 15 years.
    He is survived by his wife Jane; two daughters, Hazel of the home and Mrs. Vickie Ham of Philadelphia; four sons, Pvt. Lee Vines in Sicily; and Pvt. Billy Vines of Panama, Dewey Vines of Fish Springs, and Raymond Vines of the home. He is also survived by four brothers, Arthur, James, both of Stoney Hollow, Thomas of Elk Mills and Charley Hicks, and a half-brother.
    Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday afternoon at the Stony Hollow Christian church with the Rev. Johnny Hall and the Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the North Funeral Home.

    Julius Vines, 23, died at his home at Oak Groe[sic] this morning at 12:40. Funeral services will be conducted at the Piney Grove church at Poga Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Johnny Hall in charge. Interment will be in the Clawson Cemetery.
    He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Vines; five brothers, Lee, Billy, Morris, Dewey, and Raymond; and three sisters, Etta, Vickie and Hazel.

    ELIZABETHTON — Hazel Norma Vines Smith, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Monday April 9, 2012, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel C. and Nancy Jane Potter Vines. She had lived in California from 1966 to 1989. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a member of the C Street Church of Christ.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Edgar Eugene Smith, January 11, 1999; by a son: Eddie Smith; a daughter: Deloris Reline; and 12 brothers & sisters.

    Mrs. Smith loved to go to the beach, loved to sing and watch wrestling on TV. Her little best friend: Cuddles.

    Survivors include Two Daughters & Sons-in-Law: Dawn & Raymond "Butch" Ruby, Oshkosh, Wis., and Twana & Ernest Hively, Johnson City; Four Granddaughters: Desiree Portillo, Christy Ruby Moon, Deloris Hively Kane and Cathy Hively; Three Grandsons: Joshua Reline, Ernie Hively and David Ruby; 12 Great Grandchildren: Corbin, Conner, Jordan, Kate, William, Chase, Kyrstyn, Jason, Trinity, Taylor, Mark and Brenden; Several nieces & nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Roby Ellis, Minister, officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by the Congregation. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday, will be: Ernest Hively, Bernie Ault, Tom Vines, David Vines, Jeff Vines and Raymond "Butch" Ruby.

    The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Dr. Jeff Hopland, Dr. Garcia, Dr. Tran, the staff and nurses at the ICU, Sycamore Shoals Hospital and the staff of Bristol Pulmonary Specialty Hospital.

    Mattie E. Lambert Lewis, 92, of Butler, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from Johnson City Medical Center. Mattie was born in Poga, Tenn., to the late Hobert Charles and Etta Vines Lambert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles "Ray" Lewis, on December 3, 2003; a brother, Allen Lambert; and a sister, Mae Lambert Harmon.
    Mattie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, listening to music and also playing music.
    Those left to cherish her sweet memories include a daughter, Devonia Lewis McKeehan and husband (and beloved son-in-law) Bobby of Elizabethton; a brother, George Lambert and his wife of Butler; a sister, Selma Vines, also of Butler; two grandchildren, Randy McKeehan of Stoney Creek and Lisa McKeehan Young of Johnson City; and five great-grandsons, Curtis Bradley McKeehan, Georgia, Randy Ray Pritchard, Chase Alan Young and Christopher Robert Young, all of Johnson City, and Dalton Ray McKeehan of Stoney Creek. Also, many beloved nieces and nephews also survive.
    A visitation will be conducted from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, or at the residence of her daughter at any time. A service to honor the life of Mattie E. Lambert Lewis will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Roby Ellis and Mr. Eddy Craft officiating. Music will be under the direction of Elizabethton Church of Christ Singers. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bob Campbell, Jeff Vines, Terry Reece and Shane Lambert.

    George Dewey Lambert, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at his home. George was born on March 13, 1939 to the late Hobert Charles Lambert and Etta May Vines Lambert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Lambert; sisters, Mattie Lewis and Mae Harmon; and brother, Allen Lambert.
    George enjoyed fishing and playing music. He also retired as a master metal craftsman.
    Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 56 years, Jessie Trivette Lambert; son, Shane and wife Melissa; step-son, Michael Blevins and wife Debbie; step-daughter, Karen Vogler and husband John; sister, Selma Vines; grandchildren, Alyssa Lambert, Michelle Walsh (Michael), Matt Blevins (Ashley), Adam Stanton, Kala MacDowall (Luke) and CJ Lambert; and great-grandchildren, Faith, Avery and Aidan.
    The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, July 26, at Mountain View Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow with Pastors Nathan Jones and Dean Presnell officiating. The graveside service and interment will follow at the Lambert Cemetery (Poga). Pallbearers will be Jeff Vines, Kevin Reece, Michael Walsh, Michael Blevins, John Vogler, Matt Blevins, Greg Trivette and Bobby Joe Trivette. Honorary pallbearers are Aidan Blevins, Charlie Stout, Raymond Kempton and Steve Pate.

    Bob R. Vines Sr., 79, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, at his residence after a brief illness.
    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Dewey and Virtie Stines Vines.
    Bob was a retired automotive mechanic, having been employed at Dixie Battery for 28 years. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. He loved restoring old cars and gardening.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Norman and Tony Vines, and a sister, Martha Guinn.
    Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ann Keller Vines; three children, Bobby Vines Jr. and wife Angie, Elizabethton, Kenny Vines and wife Marta, Lexington, Ky., and Debbie Foster and husband David, Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Derrick, Eric and Andrew Vines and Devin Foster; two brothers, Gilbert Vines and wife Hilda, Elizabethton, and Danny Vines and wife Angela, Jonesborough; a sister, Vickie Snyder and husband Danny, Gray; several nieces and nephews; and his fur baby, Artie.
    Funeral services for Bob R. Vines Sr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chris Shumate officiating. The entombment service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Jackie Cole officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family and Harold Hicks. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff of Avalon Hospice, Dr. Elizabeth Defluiter and her staff, and the staff of ICU, Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

    CLYDE LEE VINES
    Clyde Lee Vines, age 1 year, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Vines, Route 3, Butler, died in Appalachian Hospital, Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock after an illness of 1 month.
    Survivors are the parents; 2 brothers, Bobby and Norman Vines of Route 3, Butler; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Vines, Oak Grove; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Stines, Beech Creek, N. C.
    Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the Poga Christian Church with the Rev. Reece in charge.
    Burial will be made in the Poga Cemetery.
    Active pallbearers and flower bearers will be selected from friends at the service.
    The body will remain in the Roy Hathaway Funeral Home Chapel.

    Toney Mack Vines, 67, of Hampton, went home to be with the Lord following an extended illness on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Hermitage Health Center. He was a son of the late Dewey Vines and Virtie Stines Whaley and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann Green Vines; a great-grandson, Grayson Anderson; two brothers and one sister.
    Toney worked at North American Rayon Corporation over 30 years and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing and watching his grandsons play basketball.
    Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Anthony Vines of Johnson City; three daughters, Jeannie Street and husband Tony of Roan Mountain, Kimberly Tucker and husband Jonathan of Johnson City, and Alena Bentley and husband James of Hampton; three brothers, Danny Vines of Jonesborough, Bob Vines and Gilbert Vines, both of Elizabethton; one sister, Vicki Snyder of Johnson City; his girlfriend, Joan Ramsey of Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    A service to honor the life of Toney Mack Vines will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor James Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service, and at the home of a daughter, Kimberly Tucker. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Tucker, Tony Street, James Bentley, Tyler Street, Jordan Bentley, Bob Vines, Danny Vines and Gilbert Vines. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Carden, Scott Carden, Austin Bentley and Chris Bentley

    Billy James Vines, two-month old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Vines of Route 1, died in a local clinic Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. after a one-day illness.
    Survivors besides the parents are the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell of Route 1, and the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Janie Vines of Route 4.
    Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of the father from Chicago, Illinois.
