    Notes:

    ELIZABETHTON — Eva Hyder Casey, 78, formerly of 100 Daytona Place, Elizabethton, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday May 17, 2011, at Hermitage Health Center following an extended illness.

    She was a native of Carter County and the youngest of eleven children born to Nat & Ethel Woodby Hyder. Mrs. Casey was a 1951 graduate of Hampton High School and loved to keep in touch with her classmates.

    She had lived in Michigan for a number of years. She retired in 1992 from the Michigan School System where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Church.

    Mrs. Casey enjoyed going out to eat with friends, listening to live music and laughing with her many friends at the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed life and always had a smile for everyone.

    Mrs. Casey was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Casey, Sept. 1999; four brothers, Don Hyder, Sept. 1997, Carl Hyder, April 1998, Nathan Hyder, October 2002, and Leonard Hyder, Nov. 2004; one sister, Vernie Stevens, Oct. 2004; a sister-in-law, Violet Casey Price, June 2004; and five infant brothers and sisters.

    Survivors include a son, Paul Casey, of Watauga; a special niece, Lenora Hyder Wiseman and her husband, Buddy, of Hampton; a special nephew, Richard Hyder and his wife, Carol Ann, of Elizabethton; a sister-in-law: Vergie Hyder, of Adrian, Michigan; Her caregivers: Barbara Fox, Patti Nave, Sandra Hardin, of Elizabethton, and Ashley Townson, of Roan Mountain; Also several other nieces & nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Hendrich officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 12 Noon Thursday in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Will Andrews officiating. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be all the caregivers that gave such loving care to Eva during her illness, special friends: Becky Yates Proffitt and Carter County Bank, Hampton High School 1951 classmates and her church family at Oak Street Baptist Church.

    The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the Hermitage Health Center for all their excelled care of Eva.
