    Louis M. Tester, 81, of Eaton Township, Ohio, died Monday, August 30, 1999, at St. John Westshore Hospital, Westlake, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
    Mr. Tester was a native of Watauga County, N.C., and the son of the late Eli and Sarah Presnell Tester. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Tester, in 1994, and by six brothers and three sisters.
    Mr. Tester had lived in Eaton Township for the past 34 years, coming from Cleveland. He was employed by Ford Motor Company in Brook Park, Ohio, in the maintenance department, with 27 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local #1250.
    Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Alta G. Bunton Tester; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jean and Ed Roch, North Olmstead, Ohio, Mary Fitts, San Antonio, Texas, and Kathy and Chuck Runyon, Grafton, Ohio; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Marshall and Linda Tester, Parma, Ohio, Robert and Karen Tester, Medina, Ohio, Ronnie and Liz Tester, LaGrange, Ohio, and Kenny Tester, Grafton, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Tester of Tennessee; and three sisters, Rilda Campbell, Ida Finney and Ruth Jones, all of Tennessee.
    Funeral services and interment will be held Thursday in Eaton Township.

    Ruth Tester Jones, 94, John-son City, TN, passed away May 6, 2015, at Ap-pa-la-chian Chris-tian Vil-lage.
    Born May 30, 1920, in the Sugar Hol-low area of Carter County, TN, she was one of four-teen chil-dren of Eli Fin-ley and Sarah Ca-mo-line Pre-snell Tester.
    Ruth grew up in Carter County and at-tended Elk Mills High School. She and her hus-band re-sided in John-son City, TN.
    Ruth was a home-maker, an Amer-i-can Red Cross Vol-un-teer for many years, served as a fed-eral data col-lec-tor for sev-eral years, con-ducted sur-veys for the Na-tional Broad-cast-ing Cor-po-ra-tion (NBC), and earned The Sam Wal-ton Award, Wal-Mart Cor-po-ra-tion.
    Above all, she was de-voted to her fam-ily. She was of the Bap-tist faith and at-tended Cen-tral Bap-tist Church, John-son City, TN.
    Her hus-band, Eugene Broyles Jones Sr., died in 2003. She was pre-de-ceased by twelve broth-ers and sis-ters: David McCoy Tester, Queen Aner Rominger, Har-vey Earl Tester, Sarah Ma-tilda Camp-bell, Fin-ley Pierce Tester, Ben-nie Wal-ter Tester, Ida Ca-mo-line Fin-ney, Luke Lee Tester, Nel-son Rich-ard Tester, Ruby Edith Triv-ette, Louis Mar-shall Tester and Anna Mae Enter. One brother, Wil-liam (Bill) Howard Tester, lives in Mor-ris-town, TN.
    Ruth is sur-vived by four sons: Gene and wife, Joy, of Jack-son-ville, NC, Frank and wife, Anne, of Vir-ginia Beach, VA, Ken, of Falls Church, VA, Larry and wife, De-bra, of Myr-tle Beach, SC. She has eight grand-chil-dren, nine great-grand-chil-dren, many nieces and neph-ews and friends.
    Ser-vices will be held at Tet-rick Funeral & Cre-ma-tion Ser-vices, 3001 Peoples Street, John-son City, TN.
    Vis-i-ta-tion and me-mo-rial ser-vices will be held on Fri-day, May 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. fol-lowed by a grave-side ser-vice at 2:00 p.m. at the Monte Vista Burial Park, 1900 East Oak-land Avenue, John-son City, TN.

    Mr. William Howard "Bill" Tester, born in Butler, Tennessee on June 7, 1925, the youngest of fourteen children, to the late Eli Finlkey Tester and Sarah Camoline Presnell Tester, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at University of Tennessee Medical Center.

    He attended schools in Butler, high school in Moultrie, GA and college in Johnson City, TN and Buffalo, NY. He also attended several sessions at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy in Donelson, TN.

    Bill was a flyer during World War II, U.S.A.A.C., with duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations. His preflight started on Aug. 6, 1942, with his first discharge on December 15, 1945 and his second on May 15, 1947. His list of Medals, Ribbons and Awards include: American Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, Army of Occupation Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge and Pistol Bar, Marksman Badge and Carbine Bar, and the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII.

    Bill's career experience includes B.F. Goodrich Research Lab in Brecksville, Ohio; State of Tennessee Wildlife Officer and supervisor, 31 years; McGuffin Lumber Company, and Paty Lumber Company.

    Bill was married to Irene Cameron Tester for 54 years before her passing in 2011. He has two sons: Doyle and Ricky Tester; grandson: Craig Tester; and granddaughter: Tiffany Tester Spencer. Great grandchildren: Eli Alfred Spencer, Eric Agnus Spencer, Elliott Abraham Spencer, Earl Addicus Spencer, Eva Ellaine Spencer, Alice Eloise Spencer and Ann Spencer. Along with his parents who preceded him in death, so do his siblings: David Tester, Queen Aner Romainger, Harvey Tester, Sara Rilda Campbell, Finley Tester, Ida Finney, Benjamin Tester, Luke Tester, Nelson Tester, Ruby Edith Trivett, Louis Tester, Della Ruth Jones, and Anna Mae Cook long with several nieces and nephews.

    Bill enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, UT sports (especially UT football). He served as a high school basketball coach at Watauga Academy in the late 1940's, and coached a semi-pro Team in Hampton, TN. He was a charter member and past president of the West Morristown Lions Club, and has served on the Board of Trustees of Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System, where he also had been a volunteer since January 1999.

    Bill was saved in June 1942 at the Elk River Baptist Church in Butler, TN and has been a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for most of his life.

    His family will receive friends Friday, November 18, 2016 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, Morristown, TN with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Larry R. Parrott and C.H. Harvell officiating. Interment and Military graveside services conducted by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Colorguard will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.

    Active pallbearers will be the Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church and honorary pallbearers are Darrell Lawson, Jim Wall, Phillip Moore, and Charles Wilder.

    Mr. Harvey Tester, age 85, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 in the Johnson City Medical Center following a sudden illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Earl and Nettie Andrews Tester. Mr. Tester worked for thirty-two years as a maintenance supervisor at Great Lakes Research Corporation. He was a member of Elk River Baptist Church and attended Doe River Baptist Church. Mr. Tester was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He loved country and bluegrass music and performed with several local bands by playing guitar and singing. He also loved animals, especially dogs, and was currently serving as the president of the Carter County Humane Society.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Tester; an infant sister and his step-mother, Nattie Tester. Survivors include his wife, Stella Main Tester, of the Home; a daughter, Penny White and husband Robert, Elizabethton; three step-grandchildren, Candi Sieiro and husband Anthony, Greensboro, NC, Bobbi Rena Tittle, Johnson City and Michael White, Nashville; two step-great-grandchildren, Walt Tittle III and Lindsey Tittle, both of Johnson City and four sisters-in-law, RoseMary Tester, Ohio, Mary Jo Laws and husband H.D. "Sonny", Butler, Edith Finney, Elizabethton and Louise Main, Butler. His extended family, Larry and Janane Finney and Shane Smith, all of Elizabethton; special friends, Wade Ledford, Clinton "Cooter" Williams and many others and three dogs, Gracie, Sleepy and Parker also survive.

    Funeral service for Mr. Harvey Tester will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 13, 2012 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. James Hawk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 14, 2012 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.

    Glen O. Tester, 69, Hampton, TN went home to be with his Lord, on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Carter County and was the son of the late Ben and Lillie Baird Tester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Estes Tester. Mr. Tester was a teacher at Cloudland High School for over forty-four years where he taught chemistry and physics. During his time teaching he was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award, Outstanding Teachers Awards and the Crystal Apple Award. He was a member of Union Baptist Church where he served the church as a deacon and as the custodian. His favorite things in life were teaching school and working for his church. Mr. Tester is survived by his wife, Velma Tester, of the home; a son, Scotty Tester and his wife, Amanda, Hampton; two grandchildren, Marissa Marie Tester, Mark Scott Tester; a brother, Richard Tester and his wife, Betty; a sister-in-law, Glenda Ranshaw and her husband, Doug; three nieces, Tiffany Arnett, Amy Lowe, Amanda Blair and a nephew, Travis Ranshaw. Several great-nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Tester will be conducted on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 8:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Dr. Danny Bright, Rev. Mickey Beal and Rev. Danny Blevins officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dr. Danny Bright. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday prior to the service and at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richard Winters, Dan Winters, Randy Birchfield, Michael Miller, Steve Branton, Smith Davenport, Kenneth Rainbolt and Doug Ranshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Union Baptist Church, Ralph Yates, Harvey Presnell and Jerry Edminsten. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the cemetery at 9:50 AM.     BUTLER — Charlene Laws Moretz, age 86, of 1358 Dry Hill Road, Butler, TN passed away on May 10, 2016, at Life Care Center in Elizabethton, TN.

    Charlene was born March 19, 1930 in Butler, TN to the late Luke Tester and Delores Cable Tester. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Charlene loved gardening, animals and she especially loved helping people.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Raleigh Moretz and Chalmas Laws, and one son Randall Laws.

    She is survived by daughter-in-law, Denise Laws of Elizabethton, TN; two sons, Doug Laws and wife Peggy of Butler, TN and Brent Laws and wife Jeri of Horatio AR; three sisters, Juanita Wilson and husband Jack of Elizabethton, TN, Carolyn Wagner and husband Bob of Bluffton, SC, and Pat Icenhour of Mountain City, TN; two brothers, Herman Tester and wife Nancy of Jonesborough, TN and Steve Tester of Butler, TN; grandchildren, Tim Laws and fiancé Beth Stout of Butler, TN, Misty Cox of Elizabethton, TN and Joni Griffith of Little Rock, AR; two great grandchildren, Abby and Amber Laws and several nieces and nephews; special friends Lorene Tester, Eloise Fletcher, Pearl Matherly and Anna Ruth Atwood also survive.

    Funeral services for Ms. Moretz will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, from the Charles B Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Thompson and Rev. Sam Icenhour officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

    Graveside service and interment will follow in Dry Hill Cemetery, Butler, TN. Active pallbearers will be Billy Icenhour, Bud Icenhour, Tim Laws, Roland Tester, Connor Icenhour, Samuel Icenhour, Zack Hayworth and Larry Grindstaff. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Potter, Bob Garland, Earl Morefield, Richard Dugger and Kevin Hayworth.
