    ...72, of 1207 Claiborne St., died at 11:05 p.m. Thursday of injuries received when he was struck by a car on Center Street in Kingsport.
    Whaley moved to Johnson City in 1959 from the Little Milligan Community near Butler. A member of the Little Milligan Baptist church and a veteran of World War I.
    Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Bertha Whaley; two sisters, Mrs. Crettie Holloway, Butler and Mrs. Pearl DeLoach, Elizabethton; two brothers, Nathan and Dana Whaley of Butler; several nieces and nephews also survive.
    Funeral and burial was held on Monday at Mountain Home.

    ELIZABETHTON — Ina Mae Deloach, 87, 225 West Doe Avenue, Elizabethton, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, at the residence of a niece, Doris Cates, 273 Long Hollow Road, Elizabethton. A native of Butler, she was a daughter of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach. She had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. Miss Deloach had formerly been employed at Eagles, Kress’s and Big K. she was a member of the Happy Valley Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Manuel, Spencer and Robert Deloach. Survivors include two sisters: Pauline Poole, Elizabethton, and Effie Garland, Butler; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Lyons officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2004, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a niece and her husband: Doris and Lonnie Cates, 273 Long Hollow Road, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.

    ELIZABETHTON — Mrs. Pauline Deloach Poole, age 85 of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, TN and formerly of 215 Spring Street, Hampton, TN died Sunday, March 20, 2005 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Poole was a native of Johnson County but had lived in Carter County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach. She was a member of the Hampton Free Will Baptist Church and was a Homemaker. She was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. Survivors include one son, Jerry Poole of Hampton; Three daughters and sons-in-law, Charline and Authur Elliott of Hampton, Loretta and Jerry Ray of Butler and Paula and John Williams of Elizabethton; one sister, Effie Garland of Butler; three grandchildren, Laura Julian of Elizabethton, Ashley Poole of Hampton and Zachary Williams of Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Tuelle and Hannah Faith Julian both of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive. The Graveside Service will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, Minister officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Wayne Johnson, Mike Lyons, Wade Sluder, Jerry Street, Roy Livingston, Jack P. Smith, Steve Rainbolt and Bobby Rainbolt.     Robert Glen Deloach, 79, 335 Tenn. Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home.

    Mr. Deloach was a Butler native and a son of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach.

    He was a retired painter and farmer.

    Mr. Deloach was a World War II Army veteran. He received two Purple Hearts, the Oak Leaf Cluster and four Bronze Service Stars.

    Mr. Deloach was a member of Pierce Baptist Church, Butler.

    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Manuel Deloach and Spencer Deloach.

    Survivors include three sisters, Ina Mae Deloach, of the home, Pauline Poole, Elizabethton, and Effie Garland, Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

    DELOACH -- Funeral services for Robert Glen Deloach, 79, 335 Highway 91,
    Elizabethton, who died Friday, June 1, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m.
    Sunday, June 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Oddis Dugger Jr.
    and the Rev. Russell Potter officiating. Music will be provided by Kathy
    Pierce and Gail Elliott. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Nat and Pearl Whaley Deloach. She was a retired employee of Levi Strauss, Mountain City. She was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the church choir.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Garland, October 21, 2005; by three brothers, Manuel, Robert and Spencer Deloach; and two sisters: Pauline Poole and Ina Mae Deloach.

    Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law: Elizabeth & Junior McQueen, Butler; A Son: Bobby Garland, Butler. Four Grandchildren: Todd Garland, Butler, Amy Phillips and her husband, Eddy, Mountain City, Jason McQueen, Butler, and Candice Garland, Elizabethton; Several Nieces & Nephews; Five Sisters-In-Law; Her Special Friends: Bonnie Stout, Grace Glover and Bernice Garland.

    Memorial Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the Little Doe Baptist Church with the Rev. Kreg Smith and Rev. Alan Koch officiating. Music will be provided by the Church Choir. Honorary Pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class.

    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Little Doe Baptist Church. Friends may also call at her residence.     A native of Butler, she was a daughter of the late Carter and Maggie Arnold Whaley.
    Mrs. Hatley was a homemaker. She loved to work in her garden and loved to baby-sit with children in her community. She was a member of Elk River Baptist Church where she loved to work with children during Vacation Bible School.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ray Hatley, in 1962, and a grandson, James Hatley.
    Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Lynda Hatley, Butler; a granddaughter, Teresa Hodge and husband Russell, Butler; a great-granddaughter and husband, Amber and Garrett Vankleeck, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Gray.
    Funeral services for Retha Mae Whaley Hatley will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Toby Rainbolt officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in the Whitehead Cemetery, Butler. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    Carl Whaley, 85, of Butler, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at his residence, following a brief illness. Carl was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Dana and Amy Gentry Whaley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Reece Whaley; three brothers, Robert, George and Bill Whaley; and a great-granddaughter, Draven Dillard. Carl retired as a construction worker and was a member of Sink Valley Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding around, going to McDonald's and fishing. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Phyllis Whaley Slemp, of the home; three grandchildren, Beth Smalling, of Hampton, Justin Slemp, of the home, and Jason Slemp, of Butler; and six great-grandchildren, William Dillard, Japan (U.S. Navy), Austin Dillard, of the home, Christian and Savannah Chambers, both of Roan Mountain, and Abby and Emma Slemp, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews and many friends and neighbors also survive. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Carl Whaley will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, August 28, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ronnie Campbell and Rev. Harvey White officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Ronnie Campbell. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, in the Reece Cemetery in Butler, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be J.R. Campbell, Burl Campbell, Johnny Campbell, David Griffey, Otis Griffey and Rickey Fortney. Honorary pallbearers will be Bart Smith, Roy Whaley, Terry Reece, Richard Fortney and Richard Moody.

    Mr. Dennis "Bud" Deloach, 51, 196 Lovers Lane Apt. 2, Elizabethton, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at his residence following a brief illness.
    Mr. Deloach was a native of Carter County and a son of Mildred Peeks Deloach, of Elizabethton, and the late Spencer Deloach. He was a mechanic with Austin's Garage.
    Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sons, Andy Deloach and Steve Deloach, both of Elizabethton; two daughters, Wendy Deloach and Renee Deloach, both of Elizabethton; two brothers, Larry Deloach, Elizabethton, and Johnny Deloach, Watauga; one sister, Doris Cates, Elizabethton; one half-sister, Melissa Hall, Johnson City; a special friend, Ronnie Mottern, of the home; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The funeral service for Dennis "Bud" Deloach will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Vern Hall officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Melissa Hall. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Junior Guinn, David Davis, Frankie Davis, Brandon Mayse, Ronnie Mottern and Billy Mottern. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Ellison and Sammy Ellison. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may call at the residence of a brother, Larry Deloach, Berrerley Place, Elizabethton, at any time. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made for the funeral expense for Mr. Deloach, c/o Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, P.O. Box 428, Elizabethton, TN 37644.     Barbara Smith, 72, of Butler, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord and those who passed before her on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Hillview Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Ray Herbert and Nora Campbell Whaley. Barbara was a caring, sweet and loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church. Barbara enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing and taking care of the home. She loved to go to yard sales and flea markets, also.
    In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James Leonard Smith; son, Bobby G. Whaley; sister, Bonnie Clawson; brother-in-law, Homer Clawson; sister-in-law, Molly Clawson; and a special niece, Nora Lee Campbell.
    Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Cody Ray Whaley, Johnathan Robert Whaley and Katie Lynn Whaley; sister, Linda Campbell and husband Robert; two brothers, Bobby Ray Whaley Sr. and wife Fannie Jane of Butler and Luther Whaley and wife Bernice of Elk Mills; aunt, Lennis Bunton; special nephew, Bobby Ray Whaley Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    At the request of Barbara there will only be a graveside service to honor the life of Barbara Smith that will be conducted on Wednesday, November 13, at 2 p.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery, Butler, Tenn., with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Ray Whaley Jr., Johnathan Whaley, Cody Whaley, Mason Campbell, George Davenport and Doug Hatley. Honorary pallbearers will be Katie Whaley, James Whaley and Jason Whaley.
