    A member of the Christian Church, Mr. Lipford is survived by seven children, Emmitt Lipford, Mountain City, Glenn Lipford, Jeffersonville, Ind., Marvin Lipford, Shouns, Mrs. Maybell Pope, Jeffersonville, Ind., Mrs. Della Howard and Miss Nell Lipford, both of Shouns, and Mrs. Lorraine Johnson, Carderview.

    Beverly Arliss Lipford, age 89 of Shouns (Forge Creek) died at his home Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Johnson County, the son of the late Lewis and Malinda Powell Lipford, and a retired farmer.
    Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Alice Lipford, Shouns; four sons, Claude Lipford, War, W.Va., Fred Lipford Portsmouth, Va., Dennis Lipford and Arliss Lipford, both of La Belle, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Powers, Burke, a.[sic], Mrs. Bettie Woodard and Dorothy Lipford, both of Shouns; a sister, Mrs. Frank Wespa, Mendota, Va., one half-brother, Vada Lipford, Shouns; two half-sisters, Mrs. Nelia Owens and Mrs. Stella Whittaker, both Mountain City; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were conducted from the Nelson Chapel Baptist Church Thursday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ernest Carrier and the Rev. Keene Roark officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery. Pallbearers were: Mens Bible Class of Nelson Chapel; and flower bearers were ladies of the church and neighbors.
    Lewis Gentry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Funeral services for CLYDE M. LIPFORD, 53, of Butler, veteran school teacher of Johnson county, who died Tuesday, at 9:30 a.m. at his home following a two weeks illness, were held Thursday at Sugar Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Noah Riddle and Rev. Coy Riddle officiating. Interment was in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.

    Mr. LIPFORD, who had taught 17 different schools in Johnson county, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Verna Mae LIPFORD; two sons, Mark Lipford of Winchester, Va., and Seaman First Class James Lipfor, stationed with the navy at Green Springs, Fla.; three daughters; Mrs. Ruby DUFF of Winchester, Mrs. Vivian BOBBITT of Knoxville, and Mrs. Connie THOMAS of Butler; one grandchild; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant LIPFORD of Shouns and Roy of North Oak, Va.

Betty was the daughter of Beverly Lipford and Viria Arnold Lipford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: two sisters, Dorothy Riddle and Hazel Powers; five brothers, Claude Lipford, Fred Lipford, Dennis Lipford, Dana Lipford and Arliss Lipford. She loved gardening and flowers.

    Betty is survived by her children: Gene Woodard and wife Carol, Hampton, TN, Dana Woodard, Mountain City, TN, Brenda Preece, Creston, NC, Linda Morris, Mountain City, TN, Cathy Woodard, Fort Myers, FL, and Jeffery Woodard and wife Shirley, Mountain City, TN. Eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Funeral Services for Betty will be conducted on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 8:00 pm in the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Services will be conducted by Bishop Trent Spalding.

    Interment will be on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Price & Lipford Family Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael May; mother-in-law, Carrie May; sister, Carolyn Conway; brothers, Larry Lipford, Dale Lipford, Delbert Lipford, Roy Gene Lipford and special nephew, Mark Potter.

    Ora was a dedicated wife of 47 years and a loving mother and grandmother who was a devoted Christian that loved the Lord and her family, especially her only grandson, Philip. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She loved her church, church family, and ladies circle. Her hobbies included encouraging others on Facebook and the color by number game on her phone.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Linda May Hammons and husband Darrell, Freida May Gwinn and husband Keith; sisters, Mary Dunn, Gladys Wade; brother, Jay Snyder; grandson, Philip Dugger; nieces and nephews who were more like siblings, Reta Eller, Wanda LaGamba, Eric Potter, Johnny Potter, Luke Potter, and several other nieces and nephews.

    The family received friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Central Baptist Church. The funeral service followed at 7:00 with Pastors Rick Thomason and Shannon Courtner officiating. The graveside service and burial were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Reece Memorial Cemetery. In addition to his Mom and Dad, he was preceded in death by his wife, Trula Dunn Lipford, brothers: Gary, Dagle, Perry, Ralph, Raymond and Boyd, sisters: Norma South and Fausteen Sanders, nephews: Allen Lipford, Benny Forrester and a niece, Sandy Lipford.
    He was a charter member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He held several offices including Deacon. He was a former employee of Burlington, TDOT, Johnson County Highway Department and Hux & Lipford Funeral Home.
    Buford loved watching Westerns and was a big fan of Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. He had been a NASCAR fan for over 50 years and loved Fords, horses, dirt bikes and especially his four wheeler. He was known as the Mayor of Fall Branch. He loved helping others and was always willing to lend a helping hand to help others out. He loved his church, his family, his friends and his community.
    Survivors include his son Dan (Tina) Lipford, grandchildren: Julia (Jon) Gilsdorf, Matthew (Amanda) Lipford, Dakotah (Janet) Campbell, great grandchildren: Sophia, Willow, Zack, Danny, Zoe, Kit and Katie, his beloved girlfriend, Shirley Lipford, her children: Janie (Ted) Gentry, Brenda (Tony) Wallace and Coy (Deana) Lipford. A host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins and special friends also survive.
    Funeral services for Buford will be conducted on Tuesday evening, April 12, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with his pastor, Russ Poteet, Buddy Morefield and Dwayne Dickson to officiate. Music will be provided by Narrow Road. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services.
    A graveside service and interment for Buford will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Lipford Cemetery in Fall Branch.

    Shelby Jean Johnson, age 82, of Joines Rd., Creston, NC went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Watauga Medical Center. Shelby was born December 31, 1939 to the late Dennis Lipford and Jocie Bryant. In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Conley Odell Johnson and daughter, Patricia Johnson.

    Shelby was the most loving and kind hearted lady you had ever met. Her main focus in life had always been her kids, family, and Jesus. She was also the type that had never met a stranger and loved working in her garden and flowers. She was an animal lover and especially liked watching hummingbirds. She was a member of Big Laurel Baptist Church in Creston, NC.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Shannon Johnson of Mountain City, TN; sons, Daniel Johnson of Mountain City, TN, James Johnson and wife Julie of Lenoir, NC, and Kenneth Johnson and wife Alice of Mountain City, TN; brothers, John Bryant and wife Phyllis of Knoxville, Billy Bryant and wife Carrie of Sevierville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Miller and husband Alford of Mountain City, TN, grandchildren, Alex Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Harold Conley Johnson, Julie Ann Barrier, Jason Johnson, Beth Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Lydia Johnson, Noah Greer, Alyssa Stout, great-grandchildren, Isabella Johnson, Breana Barrier, Liam Barrier, Dravon Barrier, Hayden and Jayden Johnson, Fiona Johnson, Sawyer Johnson, Brenden Terrell and Zakary Stowe, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The graveside service and burial were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Lillie B. Reece Cemetery (Sam Johnson Ln., Mountain City, TN.) with Pastor Michael Trivette officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Johnson, Noah Greer, Harold Conley Johnson, Josh Matheson, Dalton Trivette and Alex Johnson.

    Shelby married Conley Odell Johnson about 1959. Conley (son of James W.I. Johnson and Lillie Belle Reece) was born on 25 Jun 1938 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 16 Dec 2020 in Ashe County, , , North Carolina; was buried in Lillie B.     We are saddened to announce the passing of Tommy Jack Lipford, on December 22, 2022. He was born March 1, 1961 to the late Fred Lipford and Barbara Gentry Lipford.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan.

    Tommy is survived by his sons, Brandon (Angie) of Damascus VA and Chris (Kelsey) of Mountain City, TN; brother , Wayne (Aril) Lipford; grandchild, Gage Lipford; several nephews; Special friends, Blair Lambert and Melissa Gentry also survive.

    It was his wish to be cremated and no formal service held.

    Lloyd Ray Johnson age 64, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, TN. He was born in Banner Elk, NC on August 16, 1956 to the late Earl Johnson and Lucille Lipford Johnson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony Johnson and Lee Johnson.

    Lloyd loved hunting and fishing. He liked to go to the lake and he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter, Susan Johnson and Steven Luchini; son, Bobby Johnson and husband Jhon Agudelo; sisters, Missy Hightower and husband David, Angie Edmisten and husband Steve, Linda Harper and husband Dean; brother, Willie Johnson and wife Janet; grandchild, Charles Johnson and wife Rachel; great grandchild, Owen Johnson; sister-in-law, Janice Johnson; special niece, Jennifer Hightower and Greg and their daughter Paisleigh(squirrel) Jones; several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Mountain City Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Charles Johnson to speak. The graveside service and burial will immediately follow at Johnson-Lewis Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Johnson, Steven Luchini, Darnel Lane, Joe Johnson, David Hightower Jr, Daniel Hightower, Matthew Hightower, and Micah Clark.     Robert Lee Johnson, age 60 of Mountain City, entered his heavenly home on Thursday, June 30, 2020 at his home. Lee was born on January 18, 1960 to Earl and Lucille Johnson in West Grove, PA. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Johnson and entered heaven’s gates meeting his babies he never met on this earth.

    Lee was a one of a kind man who would give you the coat off of his back. There was no greater love than he had for his wife and children. Lee was a loving husband for almost 43 years and the greatest Husband, Daddy, and Pawpaw one could ever ask for. He was a brother, a son, an uncle, a friend, an everlasting light in everyone’s life that will never be forgotten.

    Anthony was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed ginseng hunting and fishing. Anthony also enjoyed watching westerns. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

    Anthony is survived by his mother, Reba Lucille Johnson; daughter, Charity Carrillo; sons: Christopher Johnson and girlfriend Samantha Jones, Gregory Johnson and Aaron Johnson and wife Mistee; loving ex-wife, Mary Alice Herdman; grandchildren: Fantasia Garland, Zachary Garland, Gabbrielle Robbins, Travis Waspi, Isaac Johnson, Aaron Johnson Jr., Hailey Johnson and Ember Johnson; sisters: Linda Harper and husband Willard, Angela Edmisten and husband Steve and Melissa Hightower and husband David; brothers: Lloyd Johnson, Robert L.     The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Gene Ward officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at the Johnson-Lewis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Johnson, David A. Hightower, David L. Hightower, Matthew Hightower, Scotty Robbins, Daniel Hightower, Charles Johnson, Darnell Lane and Ethan Hightower. Honorary pallbearers are all of his special friends.
