    MRS. DAN HYDER IS VICTIM OF SHORT ILLNESS
    Mrs. Sarah Alice Hyder, widow of Dan L. Hyder former Elizabethton postmaster, who died on December 23, succumbed to an illness of pneumonia this morning at 8:30 o'clock. Mrs. Hyder had been ill for a week with influenza, which later developed into double pneumonia.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the home Thursday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Clay Wilson assisted by the Rev. S. O. Pinkerton and the Rev. C. L. Bowden, in charge. Interment will be in the Little Cemetery.
    Mrs. Hyder was born in Johnson City, Feb. 1, 1879 to the Rev. F. H. and Nannie Keys Little, a prominent county[sic] family. When a small girl she moved with her family to Carter county where she had since resided. Her marriage with Dan L. Hyder united her with one of Carter county's first families, and one who had much to do with the early history of this section. She was an active member of the Doe River Baptist Church for the past twenty-two years.
    Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Cale Ellis, Mrs. Dan White of Elizabethton, Mrs. Stuart Lewis, Mrs. Aaron Odom of Johnson City, Mrs. Sam Dunn of Yankeetown, Fla.; three sons, Lon, Fletcher and Dan Hyder of Elizabethton; five brothers, John Little of Unicoi, Jack Little, A. U. Little, A. R. Little and Tom Little of Elizabethton; also fifteen grandchildren. Two children preceded her to the grave, Ralph Hyder, five years ago, and Ailene, twenty years ago.
    Active pallbearers will be Luther Hyder, Clay Little, Cecil Little, Walter Little, Clarence Little, Ray Hyder, Charles Little and Ray Little.
    Flower bearers will include Misses Hazel Blevins, Verna Little, Kate Hyder, Alice Hyder, Cora Little, Alice Hyder, Delia Little, Mary Nan Little, Mesdames Gordon Welch, Dennis Brewer, Sam Hawkins, Dayton Nance, Ted Howell and Clint Smith.

    Sarah married Daniel Lafayette P. Hyder about 1889 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Daniel (son of Rev. Jonathon Hampton Hyder and Elizabeth Fletcher) was born on 2 Feb 1864 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 24 Dec 1936 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
