    Mr. Don J. Collins, 85, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at his home.

    He was the son of the late Eston C. and Maxie C. Carrier Collins and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Mickey Charles Richardson and Serena Carol Richardson; and two brothers, Jerry Collins and Gary Kyle Collins.

    Mr. Collins was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II. He was a retiree of North American Rayon Corporation following forty-three years of service.

    He loved to garden, hunt and spending time with his family to whom he was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He was a fan of the Lady Vols and the Atlanta Braves.

    He was a member of the Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church.

    He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Martha Omega Joines Collins, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dr. James L. Richardson, Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Donnie Richardson and his wife, Brenna, Chris Richardson and his wife, Shea, Charice Richardson, all of Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, McKenna Richardson, Stephen Richardson, both of Elizabethton; a great-great granddaughter, Jordon Hillman, Johnson City; three sisters, Thelma Taylor, Lyndal Lowe and Phyllis Davis, all of Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Mack and June Collins, Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Darlene Collins, Johnson City; and Tyler Salo, whom he treated like a grandson; one uncle and aunt, Gray and Norma Carriger, Kingsport. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Collins was blessed with two special friends, Leonard Lewis and Harold McQueen.

    The funeral service for Mr. Collins will be conducted on Thursday, May 10th, at 8:00 PM with Rev. Bill Greer and Dr. James Richardson officiating.

    The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM prior to the service or at the home, 108 Bill Lewis Road, Elizabethton, at other times.

    The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, May 11th, at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park with military honors to be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Keith Williams, Eddie Lewis, Rick Collins, Wayne Davis, Kevin Collins, Sherrill Perry, Mike Lowe and Sherrill Carrier. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Garland, J.C. Robinson, Clyde Tester, Vince Tester, Johnny Joines, Terry Tester, Ronnie Tester, Terry Collins, Raymond Perry, Richard Dunnigan, Tim Clemons, Jim Thomas, Earl Dykes, Ronnie Keller, Roy Richardson, Johnny Wilson, Herman Hodge, Lawrence Hodge, Roger Lewis, B.J. Colbaugh, Robert Calloway, Dr. Joe May, Eric Davis, Eddie Williams, Rick Williams and Larry Grindstaff. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

    The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Mr. Collins' caregivers: Sandra Ward, Lora Livingston, Anna Hensley, Carolyn Honeycutt, and to Mountain States Hospice for all the love and care shown to the Collins family. The family would also like to thank the Headed Home Singers for coming to the home to sing for Mr. Collins.

    Gary Collins - ELIZABETHTON

    ELIZABETHTON — Gary Kyle Collins, age 73, of 114 Abe Lincoln Court, Elizabethton, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at his residence following a brief illness.

    He was a native of Carter County and was the son of the late Eston C. and Maxie Carrier Collins.

    Mr. Collins was retired from the Elizabethton Electric System after 42 years of service, was a lifetime member of the Carter County Rescue Squad, and presently served as the Carter County Coroner.

    He was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church and a former Deacon and Treasurer. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Collins.

    He is survived by his wife, Darlene Stout Collins, of the home; a daughter, Kay Collins, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Vicki Collins, Johnson City; one granddaughter, Seidena Nidiffer, Johnson City; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Thelma Taylor, Lyndal and Charlie Lowe, and Phyllis Davis, all of Elizabethton; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Don and Omega Collins, Mack and June Collins, and Helen Collins, also all of Elizabethton; a special uncle, Gray Carrier, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

    The funeral service for Gary Kyle Collins will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Dr. James Richardson and Dr. Dennis Deese officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Stephen Harris and Sue Bowers. The committal and entombment service for Mr. Collins will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Eric Eggers officiating.

    Active pallbearers will be: Mike Merritt, Darrell Nave, Shawn Horton, Archie Clawson, Bill Lyons, Don Ratcliff, Lowell Garrison, Sam Geiser and J.D. Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are Lifetime and Active Members of the Carter County Rescue Squad, employees and retirees of the Elizabethton Electric System, employees of the Carter County Sheriff's Department and the Elizabethton Police Department, and men of Hunter First Baptist Church.     ELIZABETHTON - Maxwell “Mack” Collins, age 85, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 18, 2021 unexpectedly of Covid Pneumonia at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mack was born in Elizabethton to the late Eston “Red” Collins and Maxie Carrier Collins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Collins, Gary Collins and Donald Collins; one sister, Thelma Collins Taylor; and his father and mother-in-law, Clate and Maggie Oliver.

    Mack retired as a brick mason and was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing baseball and softball. Mack also loved to garden and can, and loved to give vegetables to his family and friends. He also enjoyed hanging out at “The Barn” with the barn gang.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, June Oliver Collins, of the home; his daughter, April Collins of Telford, TN; two precious sisters, Lyndal Lowe and Phyllis Davis, both of Elizabethton and two “adopted daughters”, Gayle White and Sarah White, both of Telford, TN. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive, as well as “the barn gang”.

    A celebration graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 24, 2021 in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery with Dr. James Richardson officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Barn Gang, Raymond Williams, his great nephew- Charles Davis.

    Lyndal Yvonne Collins Lowe, age 82, 110 Robinson Lane, entered into the presence of God on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a faithful member of Watauga Valley Freewill Baptist Church her entire life and was blessed to serve as choir director for many years. Her love of music was her gift. She served in many capacities at the church from VBS to Golden Group. She enjoyed singing and leading the choir and was even known to twist a few arms to get the choir filled. She enjoyed canning and caring for her flowers and rose bushes. She loved her family with all her heart and it showed: from Christmas sing-alongs, to birthday parties for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, to organizing showers and directing weddings for family members. She was ever present in the lives of her family and friends and her passing will leave an unfillable void. Lyndal worked at Levi Strauss & Co. for 18 years as a supervisor. She began working for Southeastern Apparel Finishing in 1990 as a quality manager. In 1994 she was honored by Levi Strauss & Co. with the highest award they offer. She was presented the 1994 Daniel E. Koshland award for outstanding contributions to the Levi Strauss & Company “Personal Pair” program.

    Lyndal was born on April 3,1940 to Eston & Maxie Carrier Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 47 years, Charles Lowe, brothers Donald Collins, Gary Collins, Jerry Collins, Mack Collins and sister Thelma Collins Taylor, special cousins, Shelby Williams and Joy Dean Babb. Survivors include her loving daughters Donna (Wayne) Davis, Knoxville and Dawn Lowe, Elizabethton, beautiful granddaughters, Hollie (Scott) Arnold and Brooke Meza, Knoxville, grandson-in-law Wilber Meza, Knoxville. Precious great grandchildren Bailey Lauren Arnold, Davis Cole Arnold, Breyden Alexander Meza and Levi Charles Meza, Knoxville, sister Phyllis Davis, special cousin, Diana Blevins, and very special friend, Donald Campbell. Several nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart also survive.

    A service to celebrate the life of Lyndal Lowe will be held at Watauga Valley Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday, September 11th with visitation from 5:00-7:00 and service at 7:00 pm. Son-in-law, Pastor Wayne Davis, along with Rev. Bill Greer and Pastor Rodney Deyton officiating. Ted Puckett will be in charge of the music accompanied by the church choir. Family and friends will meet on Monday, September 12th at 10:45 for an interment service at 11:00 am at Happy Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Watauga Valley Freewill Baptist Church.

    Active pallbearers will be Scott Arnold, Wilber Meza, Donnie Richardson, Robert Calloway, Larry Grindstaff and Raymond (Red) Perry. Honorary pallbearers include Cole Arnold, Breyden Meza, Levi Meza, James Richardson, Sherrill Perry, Noah Rash and her church family.

    A special thank you to her caregivers who she loved dearly: Judy Richardson (niece), Dremma Garland (niece), Renee Rash, Judy Calloway and Karen Berry. Also a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice and Nurse Megan for the excellent care she received.

    LEBANON - Shelby Jean Carrier Williams, age 81, of Lebanon, Tennessee, formerly of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

    Shelby was born in Carter County to the late Walter J. and Helen Gouge Carrier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Carrier.

    Shelby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was of the Baptist faith. She had worked in various positions in the banking industry. Shelby enjoyed traveling, blue grass music, cooking, reading and quilting, but her family was her true source of happiness.

    Those left to cherish her wonderful memories include her devoted husband of 62 years, Raymond Maynard Williams, of the home; one son, Chris (Rachelle) Williams, of Elizabethton; one daughter, Midge (Jerry) Tyler; her grandchildren, Luke Williams, Ethan (Alex) Williams, Dalton (Whitney) Williams, Alexis Williams, Presley Tyler (Kaitlin) and Halen Tyler; her great grandchildren, Brileigh and Camden Williams Gott, Ridge and Hadley Williams and Waylon Tyler; one sister, Diana Blevins; and one brother, Sherrill (Linda) Carrier. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A graveside service to celebrate the life of Shelby Jean Carrier Williams will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Roger Haley, officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Elmer Sams. Active pallbearers will be Chris Williams, Jerry Tyler, Dalton Williams, Presley Tyler, Gary Grindstaff and Barry Carrier. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Williams, Ethan Williams, Tim Carrier, Sherrill Carrier, Mack Collins, Sean Beach, the barn crew and her remaining brothers-in-law and nephews. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM on Friday, to go in procession.

    Those wishing to visit with the family may do so at the home of Raymond Williams, Panhandle Road in the Stoney Creek Community of Elizabethton.

    Mr. Ricky Dean Collins, 57, of Johnson City, formerly of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at his residence.
    He was the son of Darlene Stout Collins, of Johnson City, and the late Gary Kyle Collins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Lillie Stout; and his paternal grandparents, Eston and Maxine Collins.
    Mr. Collins was a graduate of Unaka High School and attended Walters State Community College, where he played baseball. He started a career in law enforcement with the Carter County Sheriff's Department. He continued to work in law enforcement with the Elizabethton Police Dept., the ETSU Campus Police and the Johnson City Police Department, where he retired following thirty plus years of service. During his time at JCPD he worked with the Drug Task Force and the SWAT Team. After he retired, he returned to JCPD and was currently working as a training consultant.
    He was also a former member of the Carter County Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, A.Q.H.A, A.P.H.A, N.R.H.A. and the Liaison for the Tennessee Reining Horse Association.
    In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of thirty years, Vicki Lee Collins, of the home; a sister, Kay Collins, Johnson City; a niece Seidena Malone and her husband, Josh, Johnson City; two great-nephews, Collin Nidiffer and Kayson Malone, both of Johnson City; a great-niece, Everly Malone, Johnson City; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Helen Lee.
    The service to honor the life of Mr. Collins will be conducted on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Dr. James Richardson and Chaplain Edward Jefferies officiating. Honor Guard will be provided by the Johnson City Police Department.
    The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the service and at the home of his mother at other times.
    Private disposition will be held at a later time. Honorary pallbearers will be his Brothers and Sisters of the Johnson City Police Dept., Kim Birchfield, Randy Berry, Phil Caddell, Billy Patton and Buzz Martin.
