    JOHNSON CITY - J.N. Buckles, age 94, of Johnson City, Tennessee went home to be the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from Agape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.


    J.N. was born in Carter County, Tennessee to the late Alfred and Abbygail Nave Buckles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Nave Buckles; his brothers, Harry Buckles, Eston Buckles, Tommy Buckles and Brown Buckles; and his sisters, Vera Buckles, Ella Buckles and Kate Buckles Williams.

    J.N. retired as a Lieutenant with the Tennessee State Police, following 33 years of service. He was a private man and very dedicated to Public Service. J.N. was of the Baptist faith and was a United States Marine veteran, having served during World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Johnson City Masonic Lodge No. 486. J.N. was a member of York Rite of Johnson City and of the Scottish Rite, of Knoxville and was a founding member of Jericho Shrine, member of National Troopers Association and a member of Tennessee Retired Officers Association. He also enjoyed watching U.T. games and growing up on the family farm.

    Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Gail Buckles, of Elizabethton, TN and Debbie Harrison (Steve Eischen- fiancé), of Johnson City, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    A service to honor the life of J.N. Buckles will be conducted at 7:00 Pm on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Dr. William Duncan, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday or at the residence of either daughter, at other times. Masonic Rites will be accorded after the service. The Tennessee Honor Guard will assist in the service.

    The graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be his special friend, Steve Eischen, David Carter, Pat Story, and others selected from family and friends.

    Kate B. Williams, age 72, 129 Harry Buckles Road, Elizabethton, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday afternoon, April 6, 2004, following a brief illness.
    A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Abbagail Nave Buckles.
    Mrs. Williams was a 1948 graduate of Unaka High School.
    She and her husband Jones Williams were married on April 7, 1950 and were married for a total of 54 years.
    She was a member of the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church, the WMU of Caldwell Springs Baptist and had taught Sunday school in her church for more than 40 years.
    She was a floral designer and was retired as the former co-owner and operator of City Floral Shop.
    She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella and Vera Buckles; four brothers, Brown, Thomas, Eston and Harry Buckles.
    She is survived by her husband, Jones Williams of the VA Nursing Home, Johnson City; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael K and Tonie Berry Williams, of Elizabethton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Garry Holly and Julie and Bill Tetrick, all of Elizabethton, a very special niece, Gail Buckles of Elizabethton; one brother, J.N. Buckles of Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Jessica Storie and Christen Williams, both of Elizabethton; Tonya Hardy of Johnson City; Erica Holly of Elizabethton; Ronda Greaves of Denville, N.J.; Ashley Tetrick and Jared Tetrick both of Elizabethton; one great grandchild, McKenzie Storie of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2004 at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church with Mr. Michael Williams, Dr. William Duncan and Rev. Willie Lunceford officiating. Music will be under the direction of Michael Williams, Peggy Oliver, Tina Lunceford and Kenny Storie. Burial will follow the funeral service at Buckles Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Guerney Pierce, Randy Wilson, Bill Tetrick, Doug Buckles, Randall Buckles, and Chris Long. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Tetrick, Jerry Weaver, Shane Hardy and Travis Bowling.

    It is with the greatest of sadness that the family of Virginia Carol Clark, 76, of Nashville, announce her passing to be with our father on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
    A native of Elizabethton (Stoney Creek), Tenn., she spent the best part of her life in Nashville, Tenn., and worked 31 years with Tennessee Valley Authority. Virginia made many endearing friends at TVA, who were with her in body, spirit and prayers up and to her passing. She was a member of the Winup Organization where she grew a family of exceptional sisters who as well were with her throughout her life. She was a friend to all and a stranger to none. She was and will always be dearly loved.
    She will be loving remembered by her children, Greg (Joann) Clark and Lisa Puckett, as well as two wonderful grandchildren, Megan and Andrew Clark.
    Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Eston Marcus Buckles; mother, Roxie (Odom) Buckles; eldest brother, Augustus Buckles; and son, Jeffrey Brian Clark.
    She is survived in loving memory by two siblings, brother, Douglas (Carolyn) Buckles of Stoney Creek, and sister, Voretta (Phil) French of Knoxville.

    Michael Keith Williams, 71, of Elizabethton (Stoney Creek Community), went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Jones E. and Kate Buckles Williams.
    He is survived by his precious wife of 47 years, Tonie Berry Williams. Also surviving are two daughters, Jessica Williams Manning and husband Phillip of Piney Flats and Christen Williams of Stoney Creek; a granddaughter, McKenzie Storie of Elizabethton; four grand-kitties, Puddin, Joey, Alex and Katie; two sisters, Teresa Williams Holly and husband Gary of Stoney Creek and Julie Williams Tetrick and husband Bill of Elizabethton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
    Mr. Williams was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, Elizabethton, where he served in the Jail Ministry, Bus Ministry, Sunday School Teacher and Associate Pastor under Pastor Dale Greenwell. He was a 1969 graduate of Unaka High School and a member of the football team. He was a 1991 graduate of ETSU with a Bachelor of Arts with illustration emphasis. He served in the United States Navy from 1976-1980 where he served as a corpsman. He retired from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in February 2020.
    His hobbies included hiking, building model cars, draw & air brush, going to the lake, gardening, attending church when able, attending UHS football games when able, attending Carson-Newman football games and womens basketball games when able, watching West Coast Customs and photography.
    A Service to Celebrate the life of Michael Williams will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dale Greenwell and Pastor Paul Lakus officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section). Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Friday, will be Rev. Teddy Lewis, Rev. Frank Osborne, Mr. Donn James, Dr. Timothy Zajonc, Jamie Buckles and Randell Buckles. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present Unaka High football players, Rev. Bryan Shell, Rev. Jim Johnson, Gary Holly, Kenny Storie, Jerry Dale Greene and Phillip Manning. The family would like to thank Dr. Agnes Hamati and the entire oncology staff at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center for all the love and care through the years, Dr. Wael Shams at the VA, the entire Mountain Home staff and caregivers for their excellent care, the nursing staff at Amedisys Hospice, and Smokey Mountain Medical Equipment.
