    DAMASCUS, Va. '97 Mary Ellen Eggers Widener, 95, Damascus, Virginia (Taylors Valley Community), passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at the residence of her son, Walter J. Widener, after an extended illness.

    A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Walter B. & Lillie Stalcup Eggers. She was a graduate of the Gastonia High School, Gastonia, North Carolina.

    Mrs. Widener had operated Widener's Grocery in Taylors Valley for a number of years. She was the oldest member of the Taylors Valley Christian Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence B. Widener; and a granddaughter, Amy Rice.

    Survivors include One Daughter: Patsy Rice, Kernersville, North Carolina; Two Sons: Walter Joe Widener and wife, Mary, and Clarence Edward Widener, all of Damascus; Four Grandchildren: Valorie Widener, Damascus, Rhonda Cardwell and husband Kent, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Maurice Widener and wife, Pat, Laurel Bloomery, Tn., and Heather McCarthy and husband, Michael, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Six Great Grandchildren; A Cousin: Martha Stalcup Stout, Butler.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, in the Mountain City Funeral Home with Mr. Eugene Brockley, Minister, officiating.

    Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, Virginia. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, will be: John Forrester, Dave Pennington, Calvin Hash, Mark Hash, Buddy Cochran and Stacy Greer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Taylors Valley Christian Church and Members of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren.

Prior to her illness she was an active member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Ralph & Paul Jones and her sister & brother-in-law: Virginia & Ira Bingham.

    Survivors include her nephews & nieces: Terry (Becky) Jones, James Jones, Ira J. Bingham, Angela Jones (Randy) Harkleroad and Stella Lyons. Her Sisters-in-Law; Sara Jones and Nancy Jones. Her special friends: Darrell & Sue Carol Ward.

    Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Butler Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Mack Arnold, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service.     Paul was a mem-ber of Cal-vary Bap-tist Church. In his ear-lier years he at-tended Lit-tle Doe Bap-tist Church, But-ler. He loved his church friends and giv-ing to and help-ing oth-ers to meet their needs. He was a very de-voted and lov-ing hus-band, father and grand-father.
    Paul loved to play golf and go-ing to the lake. He re-tired from United Par-cel Ser-vices.
    In ad-di-tion to his par-ents, he was pre-ceded in death by a brother, Ralph Jones; and his mother & father-in-law: John R. & Irene Tay-lor

Mrs. Shoun was born April 9, 1923, in Johnson County to the late John E. Norris Sr. and Rader Mullins, Norris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Shoun; as well as a sister, Villa Lea Kyte; and two brothers J.E. Norris and K.D. Norris. Ms. Shoun was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting and gardening. Survivors include one son, John Shoun, of Butler, TN; two grandchildren, Shea Shoun and wife, Rebecca, Sarasota, FL, and Michele Winkelmeyer and husband, Kevin, of Sarasota, FL; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Nicholas, and Marek Winkelmeyer and Caleb and Sophia Marie Shoun. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Special friends, Mary Bowman, Lillian Arnold, Marketta Allen, Linda Keller and Amelia McEwen. At her request a graveside service for Marie N. Shoun will be conducted on Monday, September 30, 2013, from the Lakeview Cemetery in Carter County, TN, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Richard Stout to officiate.     NEWPORT – Roy Daniel Nave, 80, Newport, TN was ushered into the presence of the Savior he loved on November 18, 2015.

    He was born in Doeville, Tennessee to the late Nick & Anna Opal Stalcup Nave on December 25, 1934. The family moved from Tennessee to Oregon in 1947, and then to Mishawaka, Indiana in 1950, where he lived until May 2015. He was a 1953 Graduate of Mishawaka High School and a lifelong employee of Ball Band, until his retirement in 1990. He married Marilyn Patricia (Pat) Scott on October 30, 1954, faithfully serving her as godly husband and care giver for 61 years.

    Roy placed his faith in Jesus Christ in 1957, and lived as a man of God. He was loved and respected by people in Indiana, Tennessee and in Texas, where he & Pat wintered for 17 seasons.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Myretha Arnold.

    He is survived by his loving wife Pat and son: Daniel (Cheryl) Nave of Newport, TN; Granddaughters: Andrea (Dave)Johnson of Grand Rapids, MI; Sara (Jon)Fisher of Hopkinsville, KY; grandson: Matthew (Carrie) Nave of Howard City, MI: sister: Nikkie Mae (Chuck) Buck of Mishawaka, Indiana, a sister-in-law: Mary Lou (Kenny) Myers of Niles, MI; eight great grandchildren he loved intensely; his friend of 30 years, Larry (Candy) Desimone of Osceola; and Texas snowbird friend, Steve (Irene) Hauersperger of Cerro Gordo, IL.

    A time of greeting and condolence will be held at Northport Baptist Church, 488 Duncan Street, Newport,Tn. on Friday, November 20, 2015, from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service led by Pastor Kris Brady.

    Survivors include her son: William N.
