    ... 84, died Friday night in Grace Hospital, Banner Elk, N. C., following a brief illness.
    Fritts, a retired farmer was a member of the Dyson Grove Baptist Church, was a native of Johnson county.
    Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Callis Shull Fritts; four sons, Oscar Fritts, Neva, Paul and Ed Fritts, Butler, and Joe Fritts, Detroit, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. Mae Stout, Elizabethton, and Mrs. Goldie Ward, Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Lena Sufferfield[sic] and Mrs. Pansy Johnson, Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Brownlow Fritts of Elizabethton; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held on Sunday from the Dyson Grove Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Wiley Ward and Rev. Keene Roark officiating. Interment was in the Moreland cemetery.

    MOUNTAIN CITY — William Barton 'Bart' Fritts, age 76, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Johnson County Community Hospital.

    He was born on June 14, 1935 to the late Oscar and Nell Wagner Fritts.

    In addition to his parents, Bart was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa Fritts, and a brother, Glenn Fritts.

    Bart was a former United States Postal Chief and was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

    Bart is survived by his wife, Edith Fritts; daughter and son-in-law, Bernadette and Leon Humphrey of Watauga, TN; grandchildren: Robert McIntyre and wife Crystal, Tiffany Crawford and Leon Humphrey Jr., all of Elizabethton, TN and Vance Crawford and wife Jessica of Telford, TN, Virginia Andes of Greeneville, SC; great grandchildren: Dominic, Jaden, Jaren, Elijah, Brianna and Jacob Carter.

    The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell and Pastor Norm Reece to officiate.

    Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Dyson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard, who will also be serving as active pallbearers.

    Honorary pallbearers are the men of John Payne's Sunday School Class: John Payne, Ray Payne, James Lefler, Sonny Roberts, Jim Vincill, Bob Miller, Jim Bishop, Farris Thomas, Pat Greene, Dannie Dunn, Blaine Stout, Tony Cardi, Carnis Crotty, Todd Grayson, Bruce Wilson and all of Bart's Hardee's Friends with whom he ate breakfast with and visited with every morning.

    Buried:
    Paul Fritts, Jr. age 72, went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2021. He was a member of Limestone Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a trustee for many years. He was very active in the church helping with the youth, the high school Sunday School class, and annual Youth Retreats. He graduated from Johnson County High School in 1966. After graduation, Paul went to work for Pharmaseal Laboratory where he was a supervisor. Then he was called to serve his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War where he earned the Bronze Star. Later, his work called him to be a supervisor of Environmental Services at the Veterans Hospital where he worked until his retirement. He loved fishing at the “BigRock,” UT football and helping “his boys.” Most of all he loved God’s word.
    He was a very loving husband, father, and Papaw to his family. He will be greatly missed.
    He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Paul Fritts, Sr. and Laura Campbell Fritts; his sister, whom he loved very much, Betty Jo Bowers.
    He is survived by his wife, Judy Bailey Fritts; two sons, Paul Steven Fritts and wife Scarlett and Brian David Fritts and wife Melissa; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremiah, Emily, Journee, Alexis and Nevaeh Fritts; Brother, whom he loved so much, Jim Fritts and wonderful in laws and their families, his loving Church family and friends, and special grand dog “Gizmo.”
    “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid for me a crown of righteousness. 1 Timothy 4: 7-8a.
    The family would like to thank Ms. Kim Hoyle and Dr. Tumker and the caring staff of the TN Cancer Center for all their care. Dr. Tran and all the doctors and nurses who cared for him at Johnson City Medical Center.
    The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 – 7 pm at Limestone Free Will Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. David Reece, Rev. Tim Roach, Rev. Tim Broyles and Rev. Gary Gentry officiating.
    Pallbearers are Larry McNeese, Patrick Phillips, Matthew Fritts, Jeremiah Fritts, Dennis Ledford, Roger Dickerson, Junior Fox, and Randy Bailey.
    Honorary pallbearers are Jim Fritts, Gus Bowers, David Bailey and Charlie Phillips.
    The graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at Limestone Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

    JONESBOROUGH - Mr. Lowell H. Stout, age 85, Jonesborough, completed his life Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Because of his belief in God and Jesus, we believe he will dwell in the Kingdom of God forever and ever.

    He was born June 5, 1935 to the late Clyde and Mae Fritts Stout in Doeville, TN. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Nadia Stout, and brother, Dr. Bill Stout.

    After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Stavanger, Norway, a county he dearly loved. After serving his county, he was employed by Air Products in Bari, Italy. He returned to the United States and retired from the Bailey Co. in Piney Flats. He was a hardworking, dependable employee. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

    Survivors include a brother, Bobby Stout, Elizabethton; nephews, Bryon Stout, Elizabethton, Mike Stout, Charlotte, NC and Roger Stout, Athens, Alabama; and a niece, Cathy Stout, Denver, Colorado.

    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Noel, for the great home care and his long-time friends, Ben Clark, Ray Barcel, James Storey and Brandon Tittle.

    Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 am Friday, February 26, 2021 at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
