Millard Garfield Hodge died at his home at Shouns, after an illness of 18 months.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the home, in charge of Rev. Howard Reese and Rev. Laurence Trivette. Burial will be made in the family cemetery.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Bessie Hodge, one son, Edgar Hodge; two grandchildren: Mary Lou and George Hodge; two brothers: Boone Hodge and A. L. Hodge, and three sisters: Mrs. Tolly[sic] May and Mrs. Lula Dunne of Trade, and Mrs. Maggie Maines of Shouns.

Boone F. Hodge, age 81, Oxford, Pa., died in Cannon Memorial Hospital, Banner Elk, N.C., Sunday at 8:45 a.m. after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Johnson County, but had made his home in Oxford for the past 12 years. He was a retired farmer and member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Annie V. Hodge, Oxford, Pa.; a son, William S. Hodge, Uniontown, Pa.; five daughters, Mrs. Claude Graybeal, Pecopson, Pa., Mrs. Gale Graybeal, Oxford, Pa., Mrs. James Grindstaff, West Grove, Pa., Mrs. James Jones, Oxford, Pa., and Mrs. Ned Rhead, Summerville, S.C.; a brother, Lincoln Hodge, Mountain City; two sisters, Mrs. Garfield May, Trade; Mrs. Charles Dunn, Mountain City; 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church with H.T. Mabry and Rev. A.E. Browne to officiate. Burial will be in Reece Cemetery, Trade.

Abraham Lincoln Hodge, age 74 of Mountain City died in Cannon Memorial Hospital, Banner Elk, N.C. Saturday at 10:55 p.m. after a 10-week illness. He was a native of Johnson County, son of the late Washington and Mary Mains Hodge; a farmer and businessman, a former (12 years) tax assessor of Johnson County; former school teacher and former member of the Johnson County Board of Education. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Noah Alvin Isaac[sic] was born Oct. 27, 1875, at Mabel, N. C., and died. Jan. 9, 1946, at Glade Springs, Va., at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 13 days.
He was united in marriage to Callie R. Stout on Jan. 7, 1900. She preceded him in death seven years ago. Pardue, age 81 of Route 5, Mountain City, died Monday at 3:30 a.m. in the Johnson County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. he was a native of North Carolina but had made his home in Johnson County the greater part of his life. He was a son of the late William and Catherine Hodge Pardue, a retired farmer, and a member of the Rainbow Baptist Church. Pardue was preceded in death by a son, Luther Pardue, who died December 1, 1970.
Survivors include the wife, Mollie M. Pardue of the home; two daughters, Miss Mae Pardue of the home; Mrs. Earlene Crowder of Mountain City; four sons, Charles Pardue, Mountain City; Clayton Pardue, Highpoint, NC; Roger Pardue, Mountain City, James Pardue, Mountain City; one sister, Mrs. Flossie P. Arnett, West Jefferson, NC, 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Wed., 2 p.m. from the Rainbow Baptist Church with Rev. J.D. Rash and Rev. Dwight Adams officiating. Burial followed in the Rainbow Cemetery. Music was under the direction of the Church Choir.

Edith Isaacs Arnold, age 90, passed away Thursday, November 11th, 2010 at the Mountain City Care Center in Mountain City, TN. She was a native of Watauga County, NC and the daughter of the late Noah and Callie Stout Isaacs. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Edith was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Orville Arnold in December 1999 and two daughters, Eva Ruth Arnold and Joyce Arnold Campbell.

Fannie Pauline Isaacs Dixon, 99, passed away at Lakebridge Health Care Center, Johnson City, on Thursday, January 22, 2009.

The daughter of the late Garfield Isaacs and Jessie Stout Isaacs Stansberry, she was known as Peg by family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Fred F. Dixon; sisters, Kathleen Isaacs Wright, Mildred Stansberry Friese and Vada Stansberry Ervin; brothers, Elcaney Isaacs, Ray Stansberry, James Stansberry and D.L. Stansberry.

Her survivors include a sister, Lucille Stansberry Plaster; a sister-in-law, Louise Greenwell Stansberry; several nieces and nephews; and an "adopted" daughter, Phoebe McInturff.

Her family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff of Lakebridge Health Care Center and Caris Hospice for their respect and care for Fannie (Peg) during her stay.

As Peg requested, no services are planned. She will be buried at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Irene Pardue, age 82, of 919 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Sunday, September 25, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, Irene was born on December 6, 1922 to the late Robert Fayette Pardue and Ollie Belle Tester Pardue. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by two sisters: Maude Lee Arnold and Lucille Dunn and six brothers; Walter, Paul, Hugh, Ulysses, Shelton and Bruce Pardue. She was a member of Roans Creek Baptist Church. Irene enjoyed her family, friends and taking care of others when needed.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services for Irene Pardue will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Monroe Cooke to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Roan Creek Baptist Church Choir. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to Services, at the Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28 from the Rainbow Cemetery. Family and Friends are asked to assemble by 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, at the Rainbow Cemetery for Services.

Maudlee Arnold, age 74, of 605 Claude Warren Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2004 at the Watauga Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Shouns, Tennessee, she was born on March 6, 1930 to the late Robert Fate Pardue and Ollie Belle Tester Pardue. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ray Arnold; one sister, Lucille Dunn and five brothers, Hugh Pardue, Wiley Pardue, Paul Pardue, Walter Pardue and Bruce Pardue. Maudlee was a homemaker and a member of the Rainbow Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Arnold; three sons, Bobby Ray Arnold and wife Maxine, Eugene Arnold and wife Debbie and Mike Arnold and wife Donna; one sister, Irene Pardue, all of Mountain City, TN; one brother, Ulysses Pardue of Kennett Square, PA; eight grandchildren, Josh Arnold, Erick Arnold, Ethan Arnold, Brian Arnold and wife Lisa, Christie Atwood and husband Tracy, Phil Arnold and wife Wendy, Mike Essick, Jessie Essick and six great grandchildren, Kendra Arnold, Caden Arnold, Tracy Arnold, Dalton Atwood, Zack Arnold and Nate Arnold. Preacher James Lewis Pardue, age 86 of Mountain City, TN passed away Monday, April 17, 2017.

He was Born January 27, 1931 to the late Tom Pardue and Mollie Moretz Pardue. Mr. Pardue was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years and mother of his children, Betty Fenner Pardue.

Mr. Pardue enjoyed spending time with his family and would actively be preaching and singing. He was a member of the Rainbow Baptist Church. Mr. Pardue enjoyed woodworking and making jewlery in his spare time. Preacher Pardue served his country as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include:

His Wife; Georgia Walsh Pardue. Two Daughters; Barbara Moody and husband Jimmy of Mountain City, and Linda Vance of Mountain City. His Son; Steve Pardue and Michelle of Stoney Creek. Sister; Earlene Crowder of Mountain City. Brother; Roger Pardue of Mountain City. Step-children; Bill Shomate and Joice, Dave Shomate, Rick Shomate and Shiela, Dixie Widener, and Diana Wagner. Grandchildren; Lory, Trisha, Cindy and Joshua

Funeral services for Preacher James Lewis Pardue will be held Thursday April 20th, 2017 at the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel, starting at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and visitors between 1:00 and 2:00p.m. prior to the service, Shannon Courtner will officiate.

Graveside services will follow, at the Rainbow Cemetery with military honors, accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.

It is with great sadness that the family of Wynell Hawkins, announces her passing on February 02, 2022, age 95, at her residence. Wynell was born January 18th, 1927 to the late Fred and Ruth Pardue. She is also preceded in death by Husband Barton and infant daughter Sharron. She enjoyed sewing and reading and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include:

Ronnie Glen Pardue, of Mountain City, passed from this earth to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Mountain City Care and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born to the late Orville G. and Martha Pennell Pardue February 26, 1947.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his sister, Linda Crowder; sons, Kevin (Shag) Pardue, Steven (Puddy) Pardue; brothers-in-law, Jim Crowder, James Harper and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Eidson.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Jayne McGlamery-Pardue; sister, Janet Harper; brother, Terry Pardue (Sabrina); son, Brian K Pardue; grandsons, Kevin Pardue, Justin Pardue; sisters-in-law, Arlene Lewis (Jake), Linda Sprouse (Ernie); special nephews, Matthew Lewis (Amy), Travis Lewis (Christina), Sam Lewis, Asa Lewis, Isaac Lewis, Peter Michael Eidson (Heather), Jeff Pardue, Darren Pardue, Zack Pardue; special nieces, Katherine Nichols (Dylan), Sara Beth Eidson, Jessica Moody, Evelyn Crowder; special friend, Mary Jo Walsh.

Ronnie was a kind, caring, and gentle man with a caring heart for his friends and a huge amount of love for his family.

He retired from Harris Teeter Supermarket in 1993 and then went to work in the maintenance department for the Johnson County School System, where he also drove a school bus for several years. He also enjoyed working with his brother-in-law, Jake, driving a truck for several years before his poor health put him in complete retirement. He enjoyed bowling, jigsaw puzzles, Nascar racing, his “baby girl”, Sophie Grace, and was a huge fan of the Tennessee Vols.

He had a soft spot in his heart for children and animals, and was a member of Valley View United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home with Josh Giddings officiating with special music by Christina Lewis, Katherine Nichols, Sam Lewis, Amy Lewis, and Asa Lewis. The graveside service and burial will follow at the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Lewis, Travis Lewis, Asa Lewis, Isaac Lewis, Sam Lewis, Jeff Pardue, and Dylan Nichols.

Honorary pallbearers are Jake Lewis, Ernie Sprouse, Dr. Raina Sluder and Satff, Dr. Jeff Farrow, Jamie Dewey-Mariotti (LPN), Tommy Warren, The Lincare Team of Boone, NC, and Terry Pardue.

Mrs. Linda Sue Pardue Crowder, age 72, of 207 Crowder Road, Mountain City, TN passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born July 16, 1944 to the late Orville Pardue and Martha Pennell Pardue and was the granddaughter of John and Ethel Wilson Pardue and Larkin and Emma Lawrence Pennell, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim D. Crowder.

Linda was a member of Roan Creek Baptist Church and loved spending time with her grandsons more than anything. She loved singing in the choir, helping with Bible School and the Young at Heart. She was a front-end manager at Harris Teeters for 21 years until her retirement.

Survivors include: a daughter, Evelyn Crowder Allen and husband Brian of Mountain City, TN; a sister, Janet Harper and husband James of Mountain City, TN; two brothers, Ronnie Pardue and wife Jayne of Mountain City, TN. and Terry Pardue and wife Sabrina, Springfield, TN; two grandchildren, Todd Cross and Sam Allen, special nieces who were like her children, Edna Miller and Linda Morefield, special great niece, Hailey Miller, as well as several other nieces and nephews; special friends, Peggy May and Mary Reece.

A funeral service for Linda will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from the Roan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. David Hankal to officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will follow from the Rainbow Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Brian Allen, Todd Cross, Sam Allen, Ed Crowder, Gregg Miller and Mike Morefield. Honorary pallbearers will be: Johnson County EMS staff, Jay Davis and Deacons of Roan Creek Baptist Church.

Billy Ray Pardue died August 26th, 2019. He was born February 27, 1951 in Watauga County. Billy was an active member, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Antioch Baptist Church in Mountain City, TN. He honorably served four years in the US Air Force and seventeen years in the Army National Guard. Billy retired as a master diesel mechanic for Hollar & Greene Produce. A Christian gentleman, Billy loved his God, family and country. He considered his family his greatest gift and was a loved and respected husband, father and grandfather. He was the best 'PawPaw' to his grandchildren whom he referred to as 'the children God gave him.

Billy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bitha Kirby Pardue; sons, Jason Pardue and wife, Teresa of Vilas and Jared Pardue of Zionville; daughter, Jessica Greene and husband, Jonathan, of Zionville; grandchildren, Colton and Cadence Greene, Isabella, Adalae and Samuel Pardue; brothers, R.C. Pardue and wife Pat and Danny Pardue, all of Zionville; and sisters, Margaret Grindstaff and husband, Danny, of Mountain City, Helen Pardue of Zionville, Patsy Courtner and husband, Jerry, of Mountain City, and Wanda Eldreth and husband, Bobby, of Todd. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie and J.C. Pardue and sister-in-law, Francis Pardue.

Funeral services held at Antioch Baptist Church in Mountain City, TN, officiated by Rev. Kenny Ray Vaught and Rev. Dwayne Tester. Graveside services with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 130 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Zionville, NC.

Alma Justine (Pardue) Sala passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 13, 1938 to the late Paul and Frances (Canter) Pardue. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don Sala; sister, Carol Pardue; brother, Butler Pardue and his wife, Pat Pardue; father-in-law, William Sala; mother-in-law, Mary Sala; brothers-in-law Barry Fyock and John Sala; daughter-in-law, Mary (Dixon) Sala.

Alma was a member of the Mountain City Church of Christ. Her family moved from Mountain City to Pennsylvania in the 1960’s. While living there, she met and married Don Sala. They were blessed to enjoy 50 years of marriage. They returned to Mountain City in 1970, where she lived for the rest of her life.

Alma loved going for rides in the country, working word search puzzles, and sitting on the back porch in her rocker, watching the cattle and horses. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Donna Burgess (Brent); sons, Arlen Sala and Gary Sala; sister, Janice Pardue; brothers, Edgar Pardue (Georgia), Jimmy Pardue (Louise); sister in law, Dorothy Fyock; brother in law, Bill Sala (Jan); grandchildren, Deidre Dunn (Logan), Greta Helm (Eric), Shania Sala and Austin Sala; great-grandchildren, Aiden Dunn and Jasmine Helm, and was awaiting the arrival of baby Ashlinn Dunn; nieces, Melisa Pardue Beavers (Chris), Laurie Lewis (Ron), Joannie Mann (Paul), Connie Harris (Russell); nephews: David Pardue (Wanda), Fred Fyock (Chris) and Jay Sala (Holly); special friends, John and Karen Arnold.

Also, special caregivers who treated her with the utmost kindness and respect and like their own mother or family member include: Pat Woods, Kathy Helm, Barbara “Sis” Long, Nancy Townsend, Sandra Price, Joan Arnold, and Monika Burgess.The family would also like to thank Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, along with her doctor, Emily McQueen and her nurse Amy.

The graveside service were held at 11:00 on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park with Minister Buddy Morefield officiating. Pallbearers were Brent Burgess, David Pardue, Eric Helm, Brian Helm, Jamie Lewis, and Randy Forrester.

SODDY DAISY — Butler Dean Pardue, 74, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 29, 2016, surrounded by his family.

He was a member of the North Hamilton Church of Christ. Butler was a United States Army Veteran. He was an avid sports fan who loved his Braves and his Tennessee Vols; he also loved bluegrass and loved to sing. Butler loved to be around family and friends and loved to make them laugh. He was always happy and he will be sadly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Eustice Pardue; his father, Paul Pardue; his mother, Frances Pardue and a sister, Carol Sue Pardue.

He is survived by his wife, Glenna Pennick Pardue; daughter, Melisa (Chris) Beavers; granddaughters, Mollie, Maddie Claire Beavers; sisters, Janice Pardue and Alma (Don) Sala; brothers, Edgar (Georgia) Pardue, Jim (Louise) Pardue; brothers-in-law, Horace (Liz) Eustice, Morris (Sheila) Eustice and sisters-in-law, Betty (Fred) Doss, Judy (Cecil) Morgan and several nieces and nephews.

The service will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Minister Bill Greer officiating. Burial will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation is 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday and after 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home.
