ELIZABETHTON – Mr. Ivan E. Morley, 90, 1266 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at his residence.

He was the son of the late W.B. and Cassie Lowe Morley and was born in Elizabethton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vanetia Elliott Morley; and his second wife, Yvonne Garland Morley.

Mr. Morley was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of Unaka Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was a former employee of Sears, Raytheon and Bonanza Steak House and was a lifetime farmer.

Mr. Morley is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, J.B. and Ava Nell Morley, Elizabethton, Dale and Beverly Morley, Johnson City; four grandsons, James Morley and his wife, Janet, Todd Morley and his wife, Regina, Terry Morley, all of Elizabethton; David Morley, Greeneville, TN; three great-granddaughters, Kristin Taylor and her husband, Jacob, South Carolina; Jamie Morley, Elizabethton; Kasey Morley, Bristol; three great-grandsons, Tristan Morley, Jacob Morley and Ivan Morley, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Morley will be conducted on Sunday, February 28, 2010, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton, with Rev. Walker Roberson and Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Music will under the direction of the Unaka Baptist Church Choir.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday prior to the service. Friends may also call at the homes of his sons, J.B. and Ava Nell, 1232 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, or Dale and Beverly, 131 VonCannon Drive, Johnson City.

Entombment will be conducted on Monday, March 1, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Mausoleum of Peace. Active pallbearers will be Joe Williams, James Morley, Terry Morley, Todd Morley, James Garland, Marvin Garland, Mike Peters and Vernon Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Nidiffer, Wendal Stout, Gary Arnold, Jimmy Eggers, Roy Salyor, Hazen Street, Les Grindstaff, Jack Buckles and his church family. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John & Laura Elizabeth Morley Proffitt. Ada was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a homemaker and former employee of Kyle's Korner and Nettie Lee. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William Luther Nave, Grandson: Melvin Lee Nave, Granddaughters: Laura Carrier and Chrissy Hartman, two brothers: Hendrix and Harry Proffitt, five sisters: Margaret Williams, Wynona Williams, Ida Cordell, Violet Richardson and Gertrude Nave and a great grandson: Matthew Lee Hartman.

Left to cherish her memory includes her son and daughter-in-law: Melvin & Shirley Nave, Daughters & sons-in-law: Doris & Waymon Carrier and Diane & Roger Deal. Her Grandsons: Travis Carrier and wife Kim, Granddaughter: Carrie Seely & husband Steven. Great Grandchildren: B rittany Hartman, Kayla Carrier, Breanna Carrier and Emie Seely, and Chase Seely. Mr. Lowe was a native of Washington County and son of the late Lawson & Mary Ena Morley Lowe. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Mr. Lowe was past Director of Washington County Farm Bureau and Washington County Co-op. He was a Dairyman and had worked for East Tennessee Select Sires and bred dairy cattle for 40 years. Charlie, as he was known to his friends, was an avid hunter, enjoying deer and quail hunting. His hobbies including raising cochin chickens and quail. Charlie loved the outdoors, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George Shoun - BUTLER
George C. Shoun, 91, a well known owner-operator of Shoun Lumber Company, Butler, went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2008, in Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

He was a native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late William Arthur Shoun Sr. and Grace Kyte Shoun. He was a 2nd generation operator of the Lumber Company that his father started in 1908.

He was a godly man with an overwhelming love for life and his family and a great respect for his fellow man. He was an avid business man with a great knowledge and wisdom of many aspects until the day he passed. He made a lasting impact on everyone he met adults and children alike.

He was a mentor, a father figure to many individuals and obtained an earned respect from all those who knew him. His life on earth was filled with love and greatness. The impact he made during his life and his memory will endure forever. His best loved hobbies were hunting and fishing.

Mr. Shoun was a member of the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Rosa Hurley Glover. She took great joy from the simple things in life and took great pride in her three boys. She also loved art, plants and flowers as well as cooking for her family. Jerline was a member of the Lynn Valley Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son David Kyte, USMC.

JOHNSON CITY - Arlene Beatrice Stinson, age 73 of Johnson City, TN, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Hampton, Tennessee and was a daughter of the late Carmal and Fannie Bell Glover Jackson. Arlene retired from Wal-Mart after 28 years of service. She loved baking, her family, especially her grandchildren and her dog, Charlie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Arnold Jackson, Gene Jackson, and Joyce Woodby.

Arlene was born on January 11, 1949, in Hampton, TN. She graduated from South Greene High School in 1967. She married the love of her life, Boyd, in 1971. They welcomed Wesley in 1976 and Brian in 1978.

1 John 4:7 tells us, “God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him”. Arlene was the perfect embodiment of the love of Jesus Christ. She was kind, caring, and compassionate. Arlene was a friend to everyone she met. She was a loving wife and mother and adored her grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Robert Boyd Stinson, sons Wesley (Danielle) and Brian (Ashley), grandchildren, Megan, Josh, McKinnley, Noah, Emily, Isaiah, Taylor, and Elin, great-grandchild, Gage, and siblings, Lois Ragno and Roy Jackson; also several nieces and nephews.

David was a son of the late David Walter and Ida Bell Morton Campbell. David was a staff sergeant in the National Guard, having served for 12 1/2 years. He was a member of the Johnson City Free Will Baptist Church and had volunteered as a chaplain with the Johnson City Police Department David had been the director of youth baseball with the Johnson City Pony League and had been an umpire and referee with Johnson City Parks and Recreation for many years. He was married to his wife, Delora Vines, for 38 years. Brownlow served as a Specialist in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962, was actively involved in his church, and loved gardening. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Tracy and Pollie Hicks Vines.
Vernon was a retired carpenter. He was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church and Watauga Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Vines Wilson; a sister, Burlie Stansberry; and a brother, Martin Potter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Harry "Bud" White, of Lawrenceville, GA; a daughter, Sandi White, of Dacula, GA; a son, Richard E. White and wife Margene, of Dacula, GA; two grandchildren, Gina M. White, of Augusta, GA and Daniel R. White, of Statesboro, GA; and two nephews, James E. Barnes and wife Tammy, of Elizabethton, and Robert A. Barnes and wife Betty, of Hampton.

Jean was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She grew up in the area around Horseshoe Dam and on Powder Branch, and was a proud graduate of Milligan College. She had a passion for music, and sang in the choirs of First Christian Church of Elizabethton and Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Atlanta. She was employed at Eastman Chemical Company and later at the Emory University Clinic, from which she retired after 18 years of dedicated service. During her retirement years, she worked to achieve her goal of authoring a book, and published "I Don't Wanna Grow Old" in 2010.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Jean Barnes White will be conducted at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Dr. Richard White providing the eulogy. Susan Jane Kyte Lowe, 63, a loving mother, sister and aunt of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Beulah "Meme" Robinson Kyte.
Jane was a homemaker who was the neighborhood Mom to kids. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Elizabethton. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and her animals and she loved Christmas time.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Puanana Elliott; a step-son, Monty Lowe; and a niece, Victoria "Tora" Orren.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Noah Lowe, and his fiancée and Jane's caregiver, Amanda Wilson, both of Elizabethton; her husband and loving friend, C. Larry Dean Shoun, 69, Butler, departed from this earth to go to his forever home Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born July 16, 1949, in Mountain City, and resided in his beloved community of Butler, Tn his entire life. Larry was a graduate of Hampton High School in 1967 where he had a successful football career that earned him a scholarship at Less-McRae College in Banner Elk. His football career continued there for a freshman year. He then attended the National Hardwood Lumber Association Certified Lumber Grader Program. He was a rock, both physically and spiritually. He never faltered in his beliefs or his work ethic. He strived every day to make everything and everyone he touched better than he found it. He always wanted what was best and never failed to do what was right. He was a lover of fellowship with all people and animals, he loved football, good food, giving lectures and traveling with his wife and dear friends Eddie and Pat Clawson. He was the 3rd generation owner and operator of Shoun Lumber which was his life's passion outside of his family. He loved to work at the mill and everything it entailed. Some of his favorite hobbies included hauling and delivering firewood and mulch to customers and delivering hams at Christmas time to friends, neighbors and customers. He would often disappear for hours "playing" on his loader moving his dirt and mulch. He was a member of the Butler Ruritan Club where he had served as President. Larry loved his communities of Johnson & Carter County; he supported local schools in their sports program and supported several organizations. He was a member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father George C. Shoun who died August 22, 2008.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years: Deana Grindstaff Shoun. His Children: John Burleson & wife Amanda, Butler, Jill Shoun Hughes & husband Bryan, Johnson City, Katie Shoun Harrell & husband John, Butler and Kelly Shoun, Butler. JOHNSON CITY - Carolyn Shoun Hampton, 71, Johnson City, slipped away into Heaven on March 11, 2021 after many years of illnesses. She was born in Elizabethton, TN and was the daughter of the late Arthur “Sonny” Shoun and Georgia Lewis Shoun. She was a former member of Butler Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church, Johnson City. She attended Fountain of Life Bible Church, Johnson City when her health permitted. She was a member of the following organizations: Charter Member Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 Elizabethton, TN; Life Member Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2108 Auxiliary, Johnson City; Member Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent 5 Auxiliary, Smyrna, TN; Member of Butler Chapter # 218 Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her Husband of 44 Years, THP Lt. (Ret.) Bill Hampton, Brother , Bill (Yvonne) Shoun, Hampton, TN, Niece, Stephanie Shoun (Chris) Grindstaff, Elizabethton and Nephew, William (Chessie) Shoun, Elizabethton, She is also survived by several Great Nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Wood, officiating. Henry A. "Bud" Glover, 80, of Hampton, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. He was a native of Carter County.
Bud was a mechanic and construction worker. He was a lifetime member of the Hampton Fire Department and a member of the CERTS Committee and Storm Watchers. He attended Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ann Stout Glover; two daughters, Tina Edge and husband Duane, Lithia, Fla., and Jennifer Glover, Roan Mountain; three step-sons, Heath, Greg and Daniel Largent; grandchildren, Travis and Shawn Edge, Amanda, Chelsie and Hunter Largent and Chris Rainey; five great-grandchildren; one brother, John Edward Glover Sr., Hampton; two sisters, Nancy "Twettie" Stevens, Hampton, and Mary Ethel Demarco, Hopewell, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Kathy Hill and Travis Simerly.
A memorial service for Henry A. "Bud" Glover will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Greg Largent officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hampton Fire Department and members of the Carter County Fireman's Association.

Keith Campbell, 69, of the Little Milligan Community of Butler, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 14, 2023, at his home. Keith was born in Elizabethton to the late Kyle and Ethel (Smith) Campbell. Keith had worked in the twisting unit at North American Rayon Corporation and had also worked at Timberland in Mountain City. Keith enjoyed anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also liked to cook and being with his dogs. Those left to remember and cherish Keith’s memory include his wife, Phyllis (Davenport) Campbell, of the home; his sons, Mason Campbell of Butler and Charles (Jennifer) Campbell of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Jude Campbell and Moriah Campbell; a brother, Steve Campbell of Elizabethton; two sisters, Nelda (Doug) Hatley of Butler and Patricia (Maurice) Widener of Mountain City; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Melissa Davenport. Several nieces and nephews also survive. No services are currently scheduled.

Jack A. Campbell age, 78 of Elizabethton passed away Friday, June 14, 2019, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Earl and Dessie Loraine McNeil Campbell. In addition to his two parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother; Rev. Earl Campbell and three sisters; Bonnie Campbell, Christine Smith & Pauline Shaw.

Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was the owner and operator of Campbells' Folsom Printing Company, of Elizabethton, for over 30 years. He was also employed by the Elizabethton Star for 38 years where he worked in the advertising department. He attended Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church. Jack was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid UT fan and had a passion for education. He served on the Elizabethton City School Board for 10 years and served on the Carter County Commission. He was also a member of the Cyclone Touchdown Club and a member of the Betsy Band Booster Club. He enjoyed gathering daily with his coffee club friends. He also loved being on Watauga Lake with his family and friends, riding jet skis, and he also enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years; Beatrice "Bea" Calhoun Campbell of the home, two sons; Jackie Campbell and wife Teresa of Elizabethton, Jason Campbell and wife Courtney of Elizabethton, sister; Martha Stout of North Carolina, six grandchildren; Morgan Noack and husband Bryan of Fort Worth, Texas, Alexandra Campbell of Elizabethton, Taylor Campbell of Elizabethton, Sophie Peterson of Elizabethton, Jonathan Glover of Johnson City and Allison Glover of Johnson City. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Campbell will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home Elizabethton with Pastor Mark Potter officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and may visit at the home at any time.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. ELIZABETHTON - Pennye Darlene Campbell Cable, 75, Elizabethton passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Willard & Edith Maxine Johnson Campbell. Pennye was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a former Carter County School Bus Driver and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 17. Pennye was a member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elwood Cable, a son: Vonell Chris Cable and a sister: Andrea Beth Campbell.

Survivors include a son & daughter-In-law: Marty & Crystal Cable. A Granddaughter & her husband: Callie & Ethan Miller. A Great-Granddaughter: Alex Paisley McKinney. A Brother-In-Law: Terry Lewis. Several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Georgia Maxine (Hambrick) Shade, 75, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Hillview Health and Rehab Center of Elizabethton. Georgia was born in Elizabethton to the late William and Katherine (Vestal) Hambrick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Shade; two sisters, Bernice Guinn and Patsy Street; one brother, Carl Hambrick; and an aunt, whom she took care of, Lucille Miller. Georgia worked as a housekeeper and always kept a clean and tidy home. She always took good care of herself and never went anywhere without her eyebrows drawn on. Georgia was very kind and giving and willing to help anyone that was in need. A very outgoing and talkative person, Georgia never met a stranger. She was a natural caretaker and had taken care of her aunt, Lucille, until her passing. Georgia was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church for 30 years and loved watching her soap operas, gardening, Christmas time, dancing and singing to music of all kinds. Her greatest joy, however, was her family and her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. Those left to cherish and remember Georgia include her sons, James W. Estep Jr. and wife Debbie and James Jefferson Estep, all of Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Chris Estep, Casey (Michael) Waters and daughter Eleanor Waters, and Cassidy Estep, all of Elizabethton; and three brothers, William “Bud” Hambrick and R.L. Hambrick (Teresa), all of Elizabethton, and Elwood Hambrick (Linda) of North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday, February 19, in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton. A private graveside service will be conducted at a later time.

Glenn Ray Henegar, 77, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, March 17, 2022, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born August 6, 1944 in Carter County to the late Lee Harmon and Viola Hambrick Henegar.
Glenn served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired Millwright. He was a lifetime member of the DAV. Glenn was a member of Upper Gap Creek Free Will Baptist Church and served as a Trustee. He loved family, fishing, and working on cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Henegar, and also his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph Hill, Lawrence Turner, Frank Culler, Wayne Vines, Jane Vines, Frank and Ruth Hill, Mary Alice Culler, Judy Hicks, Richard Hicks and Ed Soliday.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda Culler Henegar; two sons, Jason (Jennifer) Henegar, Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Steve Henegar, Elizabethton; one grandson, Heath Henegar; his brother, Dennis (Georgia) Henegar, Elizabethton; two sisters, Nina Hill, Jonesborough, and Lois Turner, Elizabethton; his sisterS-in-law, Frieda Henegar and Grace Soliday; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Jones, the Rev. Dexter Brummitt and the Rev. Dale Blevins officiating. ELIZABETHTON - Ray Glover, 81, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, from injuries suffered from a fall earlier in the week. He passed peacefully with his family by his bedside.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeanette, of the home; daughter Renee Erwin and her husband, Jeff, of Elizabethton; son Boyd “Chip” Glover of Fort Lauderdale, FL; granddaughter April Reece and her husband, Aaron, of Elizabethton; and great-grandson Dawson Reece, of Elizabethton. Ray is also survived by a sister, Nell Taylor, and her husband Larry, of Mount Carmel, TN; a brother, Johnny Glover, and his wife Judy, of Hampton, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive, including a very close nephew, Josh Taylor, of Bradenton, FL.

Ray was the son of the late Boyd Carter Glover and Mattie Mosler and was born on December 7, 1940, in Carter County. He was a 1959 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He then joined the United States Army and was stationed in Ansbach Germa-ny with the 4th Missile Battalion, 28th Artillery (Lacrosse Missile).

After completing his military service in 1962, Ray became a businessman in East Ten-nessee and Kentucky. Ray and his wife, Jeanette, spent almost 25 years as the owners of Glover Theaters, which included theaters such as the Bonnie Kate, State Line Drive-In, Jolly Roger, Flatwoods Drive-In, and the Cougar Drive-In. Ray and Jeanette also owned and operated Capitol Discount and Brittney’s in Elizabethton. In addition, Ray served as a mentor to Chip with his business, All-Star Card Company.

Ray’s many interests included watching classic movies, especially westerns of the 1930s and 1940s, going to film festivals, flea markets, and traveling—including over a dozen trips to China. He served for many years on the City of Elizabethton’s Baseball Commission and attended the Elizabethton Twins minor league baseball games. After his retirement from his own businesses, Ray enjoyed working for his good friend, Wille McVey, at Valley Forge Auction and Wholesale where the employees and cus-tomers were like family to him.

Ray never met a stranger and leaves behind many wonderful friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, October 5, at 7 p.m. at East Side Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton, under the direction of Pastor Justin Deaton. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. before the service.

The Entombment Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday October 6, 2022 in the Mausole-um of Faith, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be chosen from his honor-ary pallbearers, family, and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Erwin, Larry Taylor, Josh Taylor, Aaron Reece, Willie McVey, Bill Vaught, C.Y. Peters, Bo Camp-bell, Charlie McCoury, Woody Thompson, Bradley McVey, his church family, and the former customers and employees of his businesses.
