    A native of Carter County, he was a member of Fish Springs Baptist Church. White was a retired employee of the American Bemburg Corp.
    Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Lottie White; Three Daughters, Mrs. Hessie Cable and Mrs. Winnie Watson of Butler, Mrs. Teresa Ward of Portsmouth, VA.; a son, Toby White of Elizabethton; four brothers, Dan White of Johnson City, Dewey, Lon and Frank White of Elizabethton; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Oates of Johnson City, and Mrs. Sadie Hicks of Elk Park, NC. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren also survive.
    Funeral services for Thomas Walter White, age 78,of Rt. 1 Hampton, who died Tuesday night, will be held Friday 2 p.m. from the Fish Springs Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. James Landrum. Music by the church choir. Burial in the McNiel Cemetery. Flower bearers will be friends. Pallbearers are as follows: Fred Casey, Jim Oliver, Ray Reece, Jim Reece, Will Lewis, Hance Haley, J.D. Rainbolt, Troy White, Howard Rainbolt, Ferd Rainbolt.

    Shubert Earl White, 85, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012. at his residence following an extended illness.

    He was born in Butler, Tennessee, a son of the late Dewey and Addie Eggers White. Mr. White served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from the Tennessee Department of Revenue Tax Enforcement Division in 1990. Mr. White was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church, having served as a deacon.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

    Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Pauline Pierce White; Two Daughters: Janet Carolyn Coker and husband, Gary, Reisterstown, Maryland, and Diana Darlene Mottern, San Antonio, Texas; Two Grandchildren and one great grandchild; Several nieces & nephews; His very special friends: Luther & Ann Deloach, Lowell and Ruby Garrison, Rev. Tom & Sherry Maines, Eva Heatherly, Jim Ferguson, Ron Cunningham and members of the Victory Sunday School Class and many friends from Hunter First Baptist Church.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sherrill Nave and Mr. Rusty Verran officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Goldie Scott and Sherry Mains.

    Entombment Services will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park, with the Rev. Tom Maines officiating. Music will be provided by Bonnie Reece and Sue Bowers. Active Pallbearers will be: Luther Deloach, Gary Coker, Clark Verran, Teddy Reed, Lowell Garrison, and J.C. Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dallas Carrier, Roy Fleming, members of Hunter First Baptist Church, the deacon board and employees of the Tennessee Department of Revenue.

    The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Amedisys Hospice and Caris Hospice with special thanks to Judy Vines and all the CNAs and nurses for all their love and excellent care they gave. A special thanks to the staff at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, home based Primary Care, Gary Dula nurse Practitioner, Gail Riddle, R.N., for their excellent care and love and to the staff of Center on Aging and Health and also the faithful friends at East Side Baptist Church who faithfully prayed for Earl and our family.

    Terry Eugene White, 69, of Elizabethton, was called home to be with Jesus early Sunday morning, January 20, 2019. He was born in Carter County, Tenn., April 22, 1949 to the late Tobie and Ama Oliver White. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was of the Baptist faith.
    Terry was retired from TPI but had also driven a taxi cab in Elizabethton in his early years. As a young man he had earned numerous trophies for his skills as an amateur boxer.
    In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Paulette Campbell White; his sister, Elma Heaton of Johnson City; his brothers, infant Samuel Tobie White Jr. of Old Butler, Tenn., Lynn Almon of Paducah, Ky., and Kenneth White of Hampton.
    Survivors include his four daughters, Amy White of Maryville, Tenn., and her mother, Wilma Jackson, Terry's first wife, of Bluff City, Tenn., Geneva Smith and husband Paul of Johnson City, Joy Taylor and husband Phillip of Stoney Creek, and Julie Waters and fiancé Danny Burchett of Elizabethton, Tenn. He has one son, Toby White and wife Tammi of Johnson City, Tenn. Terry took great pride in his family and cherished spending time with his 14 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Terry has one surviving brother, Larry White Sr. of Johnson City. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
    The family will receive friends and family from 5 to 6 p.m. prior to the service. Funeral services will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, January 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel. It was Terry's wish to be cremated.

    Anna Ruth Atwood, age 88, of Butler, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 30, 2017 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on March 27 1929 in Johnson County, TN to the late Isaac Cable and Hessie White Cable. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Edith Brown and Kate Kyte and brother Joe Cable.

    Anna Ruth is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Wallace and husband Terry, Patricia Tester and husband Doyle and Brenda Curbey; two sons: Robert Atwood and wife Georeta and Freddie Atwood; eight grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, one sister, Yvonne Phillips, several nieces and nephews.

    Anna Ruth's request was for a graveside service to be held. Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Don Winters officiating. Pallbearers will be; Craig Tester, Doyle Tester, John Gordon, Doug Trivette, Terry Wallace and Len Wallace.

    Due to inclement weather service may be held in the Sugar Grove Church.

    Robert Stanley Atwood, 73, passed away on March 22, 2021 while traveling in Costa Rica. Robert was born on September 7, 1947 in Butler, TN to George Atwood and Anna Ruth (Cable). He was an Army veteran that served in Vietnam. After serving in the army, he settled in Warsaw, OH and worked as a boilermaker for more than 30 years. After retiring, he settled in Hobe Sound, FL to enjoy the sun and sea. His greatest pleasures were spending time with family and friends, sharing his knowledge and expertise, and traveling the world. Robert was a kind person, who never turned down a friend in need.

    Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Ruth (Cable), and his sister Brenda Curbey. He is survived by his children, Anthony (Danielle) and Jonathan (Natividad), wife Georgeta, his brother William Fred (Naneth), George Atwood, his two sisters Patricia Tester (Doyle), Elizabeth Wallace (Terry), Laura Baker, two stepchildren, Dana Hall and Horia Paun and many nieces and nephews, as well as a special longtime friends, Gill and Karen. He was the cherished grandfather of Drake, Dezlynn, Tony and Darian Atwood. Pallbearers are Denny Jester, Benjamin Atwood, Terry Wallace, and John Gordon.

    A graveside service with full military honors will take place on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 at Sugar Grove Church Cemetery Butler, TN.

She was born February 21, 1958 in Elizabethton to the late George and Anna Ruth Cable Atwood. She had lived in Butler for several years before moving to Elizabethton.
    Brenda was a 1975 graduate of Johnson County High School. She was a homemaker and in earlier years she was employed at Pizza Inn. She was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her daughters, Layla Trivette and husband Doug and Lana Curbey, all of Hampton; two grandchildren, Alyiah Trivette and Kaylee Graybeal; three sisters, Patricia Tester and husband Doyle and Elizabeth Wallace and husband Terry, all of Butler, and Lora Lee Baker of Kentucky; three brothers, Robert Atwood and wife Georgeta Paun of Florida, Freddie Atwood and wife Naneth of Elizabethton, and George Atwood of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; the father of her children, Jeff Curbey; and a special friend, Charles Julian.
    Funeral services for Brenda Sue Atwood Curbey will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Morefield officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Butler. Active pallbearers will be Charles Julian, Terry Wallace, Larry Tester, Doyle Tester, Jeff Curbey and Doug Trivette.
