Albert is believed to be the son of Sarah S. Reilly and an unknown father. In the 1850 Wilkinson County, Mississippi Census, he is listed in the household of Sarah and her husband John Mercer DeLoach. In the will of John M. DeLoach dated 4 May 1876, Albert is bequeathed $3000. In the 2nd codicil of this will, the amount was changed to $2000.
