ELIZABETHTON — Mary Evelyn Pierce Williams,, 81, Elizabethton passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Armstrong & Grace Smith Pierce. Mrs. Williams was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and the Always Ready Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John E. Williams, who died February 27, 2011; by a half-sister, Georgia Blanche Grindstaff; and two brothers, James O. & Guerney Pierce.

Survivors include two daughters, Starr Lowe and husband Tim, Elizabethton and Sandra Williams, Johnson City; two sons, Matthew Williams and wife Madeline and Johnny Williams all of Elizabethton; a sister, Patsy Stout, Gray; four brothers, Rhonda Pierce and wife Shirley, Hampton, Lawrence Pierce and wife Pauletta, Dean Pierce and wife Loretta and Dallas Pierce and wife Carolyn all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Jamie Amer & Jessica Harr, Johnny Scott Williams and Makenzie Williams; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; her sisters-in-law, Myrtle Pierce, Wanda Pierce and Shirley Pierce; several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Taylor, and Rev. Willie Lunsford officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10:45 a.m. on Monday May 9, 2016, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Music will be provided by Mike Williams. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Guerney T Pierce
Guerney Thomas Pierce, 72, 233 Berry Hill Road, Elizabethton, went up to live in Heaven on Thursday morning, February 4, 2010, at his residence.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Armstrong B. and Donna Grace Smith Pierce.

Mr. Pierce was a 1956 graduate of Unaka High School and a retired Lab Technician at North American Rayon Corporation after 33 years of service. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962.

Mr. Pierce was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and served as caretaker at the Caldwell Springs Cemetery for several years. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Grindstaff, and a brother, James O. Pierce.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Myrtle Buckles Pierce; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Randy Wilson, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Paula Pierce, Afton, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Emma Grace Wilson and J.T. Pierce; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and John Williams, Elizabethton, and Patsy and Ronnie Stout, Gray; four brothers and four sisters-inlaw, Ron Pierce, Hampton, Lawrence and Pauletta Pierce, Dean and Loretta Pierce, Dallas and Carolyn Pierce and Wanda Pierce, all of Elizabethton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a special brother to the Frank and Emma Buckles Family.

Funeral services for Mr. Pierce will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, February 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Willie Lunsford, Dr. William Duncan and the Rev. Jim Hawk officiating. Music will be provided by the Rev. Bill Taylor. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 7, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the
Rev. Steve Hilman and the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, will be Jeff Pierce, Donnie Pierce, Ronnie Pierce, Chad Pierce, Matthew Williams, Michael Pierce, Stephen Stout and Gary Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be all his friends and neighbors, members of the Herman Weaver Sunday School Class of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and the 1956 Graduating Class of Unaka High School.

The family would like to express a special "thank you" to the staff of VA Home Based Primary Care and the staff of Amedisys Hospice Services. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and the Tennessee National Guard.

ELIZABETHTON - Dallas C. Pierce, 77, of Elizabethton peacefully passed away in his home on Tuesday, October 11. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Carter County and was a son of the late Armstrong and Grace Smith Pierce. Dallas was a faithful member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and had served as a deacon. He had a servant’s heart and was always helping others.

He was a 1963 graduate of Unaka High School and had retired from Mapes Piano String.

Dallas loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James O Pierce and Guerney Pierce and two sisters, Evelyn Williams and Georgia Grindstaff.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Matherly Pierce; a daughter Lisa (Mike) Wells of Jonesborough; a son Gary Pierce and his partner Dauphine Foix of San Antonio, TX; two grandsons, Evan & Andrew Wells; a sister, Patsy Stout; brothers, Rhonda (Shirley) Pierce, Lawrence (Pauletta) Pierce, and Dean (Loretta) Pierce; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Pierce and Wanda Pierce; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Hinshaw and Pastor Bill Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be his nephews.

JOHNSON CITY - Jackie Taylor Winters, 80, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2020.

She was a daughter of the late William and Beryl Buckles Taylor.

Jackie was a skilled homemaker who enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, gardening, reading her Bible, and watching girls softball – especially the Lady Vols. Her unwavering faith in God, strong will, and joyful sense of humor provided comfort and strength to loved ones as they watched her go through many serious health issues. She would always say, “It’s going to be alright”.

In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by brothers Jerry and Mike Taylor; and grandson Charles Wise. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles “C.W.” Winters; children, Barbara Taylor (Terry), Wayne Winters, Terry Winters (Delores Trent), and Pam Weaver (Tommy); siblings, Charles Taylor (Teresa), Jean Langeroudi, and Cindi Taylor; grandchildren, Devon Winters, April Winters, Sheyenne Weaver, and Kendra Keylon; great-great-granddaughter, Rosa Paredes; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at 7:00 P.M. from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Pastor James Ginley officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

The graveside committal service will be held Thursday at 9:00 A. M. in Roselawn Memory Gardens.
