    ELIZABETHTON — Jones E. Williams, age 93, 129 Harry Buckles Rd., Elizabethton went to be with The Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2006, in the James A. Quillen V.A. Medical Center, Johnson City, following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Armstrong and Sadie Sarah Elliott Williams. Mr. Williams was a very active member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and had served as church clerk, Sunday School superintendent, teacher, Bible School director and also printed the church bulletin. Mr. Williams’ Sunday School Class, the Jones Williams Sunday School Class, was named in his honor. He retired from North American Rayon Corporation. He was a licensed electrician. Mr. Williams was a 1st Sergeant in the U.S. Army having served during WW II in both the European and Pacific Theaters. In 1935 till 1938 Mr. Williams served in the 11th Medical Regiment at Schofield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-four years, Kate Buckles Williams, three sisters, June Perry, Ruth Longmire, Gladys Williams, and two brothers, Roy Williams and Herman Williams. Mr. Williams was a devoted father to his family which includes two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Garry Holly, Julie and Bill Tetrick, one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tonie Williams, all of Elizabethton, a loving and perfect papaw to his six granddaughters, Ronda Greaves, Tonya Hardy, Jessica Storie, Erica Holly, Ashley Tetrick, Christen Williams and his grandson, Jared Tetrick, one great-granddaughter, McKenzie Storie, one brother, Ray Williams, Elizabethton and one special niece, Gail Buckles. A funeral service for Mr. Williams will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church with Dr. William Duncan and Rev. James Hawk officiating. Music will be under the direction of The Smith Sisters, Debbie Gouge, Larry Stout and David Long, soloist. Interment will follow in the Buckles Cemetery with Rev. Clayton Briggs officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at Mr. Williams’ residence, 129 Harry Buckles Road, Elizabethton at anytime. Active pallbearers will be Chris Long, Perry Williams, Guerney Pierce, Terry Oliver, Bill Williams and Randy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Buckles, J.C. Robinson, Mack Hyder, Norman Hyder, Don Tetrick, David Ledford and the men of the Jones Williams Sunday School Class of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church.     Michael Keith Williams, 71, of Elizabethton (Stoney Creek Community), went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Jones E. and Kate Buckles Williams.
    He is survived by his precious wife of 47 years, Tonie Berry Williams. Also surviving are two daughters, Jessica Williams Manning and husband Phillip of Piney Flats and Christen Williams of Stoney Creek; a granddaughter, McKenzie Storie of Elizabethton; four grand-kitties, Puddin, Joey, Alex and Katie; two sisters, Teresa Williams Holly and husband Gary of Stoney Creek and Julie Williams Tetrick and husband Bill of Elizabethton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
    Mr. Williams was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, Elizabethton, where he served in the Jail Ministry, Bus Ministry, Sunday School Teacher and Associate Pastor under Pastor Dale Greenwell. He was a 1969 graduate of Unaka High School and a member of the football team. He was a 1991 graduate of ETSU with a Bachelor of Arts with illustration emphasis. He served in the United States Navy from 1976-1980 where he served as a corpsman. He retired from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in February 2020.
    His hobbies included hiking, building model cars, draw & air brush, going to the lake, gardening, attending church when able, attending UHS football games when able, attending Carson-Newman football games and womens basketball games when able, watching West Coast Customs and photography.
    A Service to Celebrate the life of Michael Williams will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dale Greenwell and Pastor Paul Lakus officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section). Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Friday, will be Rev. Teddy Lewis, Rev. Frank Osborne, Mr. Donn James, Dr. Timothy Zajonc, Jamie Buckles and Randell Buckles. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present Unaka High football players, Rev. Bryan Shell, Rev. Jim Johnson, Gary Holly, Kenny Storie, Jerry Dale Greene and Phillip Manning. The family would like to thank Dr. Agnes Hamati and the entire oncology staff at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center for all the love and care through the years, Dr. Wael Shams at the VA, the entire Mountain Home staff and caregivers for their excellent care, the nursing staff at Amedisys Hospice, and Smokey Mountain Medical Equipment.
