    Richard E. Fletcher, age 76 of Butler, Sink Valley, died unexpectedly while at work on the farm Thursday at 2:15 p.m. He was a native of Johnson County, son of the late James and Alice Holden Fletcher. He was a farmer and member of the Sink Valley Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Fletcher, Butler; two sons, R.E. Fletcher, Jr., Hammond, Ind. and Ralph Fletcher, also of Hammond; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Collaze, and Mrs. Ruby Long, both of Hammond, Ind., Mrs. Dora Long, Maryville, Mrs. Reta White, and Mrs. Pearl Trivett, both of Highpoint, N.C.; three brothers, Noah Fletcher and Dorsey Fletcher, both of Butler and Phillip Fletcher of Unicoi; five sisters, Mrs. Lona Stout and Mrs. Rosa Stout, both of Butler, Mrs. Mollie Stout, Milligan College, Mrs. Vertie Hartley, Elizabethton and Mrs. Bessie Rhymer of Johnson City; also nine grandchildren.
    Funeral services were conducted from Sink Valley Baptist Church Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dolphus Foister and Rev. Burl Garland officiating. Pallbearers were Edd Stout, Howard Stout, Edd Arnold, Karl Pleasant, Millard Fletcher, Raymond Stout, Allen Birchfield and Joe Hackney.

    Richard married Gladys (Fletcher) about 1933 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Gladys was born about 1909 in , Giles County, Tennessee, . [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Ruby Mae Long, 84, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at her home. She was born to the late Richard and Glady Fletcher.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William James Long; brother, R.E. Fletcher; and sisters, Rita White and Irene Collazo.
    Ruby was a member of Southern Baptist Church, Hammond, Ind., and attended Eastside FWB Church in Elizabethton. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She had a passion for reading her Bible and attending Bible classes. She loved spending time with her family.
    Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Teresa Heaton (Louie) of Elizabethton and Angie Winters of Asheville; son, Dr. Billy Joe Long (Lisa) of Roanoke, Va.; seven grandchildren, Aaron Winters, Tony Heaton, Christopher Heaton, Sabrina Heaton, Conner Long, Logan Mackley and Zachary Mackley; several great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph Fletcher of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Pearl Trivette and Dora Long, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    A graveside service for friends and family to celebrate the life of Ruby Mae Long will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 19, at Fletcher Cemetery in Butler, Tenn., with Rev. Harvey White officiating.

    Ruby married William James Long on 8 Oct 1956 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. William was born on 24 Aug 1932 in Blount County, , , Tennessee; died on 29 Jul 1970 in Lake County, , , Indiana; was buried in Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens, , Blount County, Tennessee.
