Funeral services were conducted Wednesday for Mrs. C. I. Shoun, who died Monday. The services were in charge of Rev. J. W. Crowe and Rev. J. O. Jones. Mrs. Shoun was 71 years of age. She had been in ailing health for some time and her death was not unexpected. She is survived by one son, Hillie Shoun; four daughters, Mrs. Kemp Lowe, Mrs. R. B. Walsh, Mrs. Clifford Pierce of Doe Valley and Mrs. Brookshire of Jonesboro. Interment was in the Shoun Cemetery.

DEATH OF S. C. ARRENDIELL

Schuyler Colfax Arrendiell was born in Mountain City, Tenn., November 8, 1868 and died at the Veterans' Hospital in Boise on January 5, 1926, death coming as the result of a long illness which necessitated an operation from which he never properly rallied.

Mr. Arrendiell, who came of an old Southern family, originally of French descent, grew to manhood in the place of his birth, where on February 16, 1892, he was married to Miss Mattie Morley. Shortly after their marriage the couple moved to Oklahoma, where they lived for fifteen years, when they moved to New Mexico. In 1912 they came to Payette, where Mrs. Arrendiell's mother Mrs. Brannock and her husband made their home.

When, in 1898, America went to war with Spain, Mr. Arrendeill made instant response to his country's need of men, serving throughout the war. Besides being a Veteran of Foreign Wars he was a member of the American Legion, and of the Masonic and K of P Orders. By profession he was a farmer, one of those men who love the soil, and who, loving it, seemed to have the power to make it yield them abundance. Although Mr. Arrendiell had no children of his own, he loved all children, and might always be found - himself never idle - with an admiring circle of little ones, who hearkened breathlessly to his wonderful tales of bird and beast, or of his own picturesque boyhood. He was a dutiful son, both to his own parents, and to his wife's mother whom he regarded as his own, a loving husband, and a friend loyal even to death. Long will his memory live in the hearts of those who knew and honored him.

Besides his widow and mother-in-law, Mr. Arrendiell is survived by four brothers and two sisters, all residents outside of the State.

The funeral will be in charge of the Masons at the Methodist Church at 2:30 Friday afternoon and interment will be made in Riverside Cemetery.

S. C. ARRENDIELL DIES AT BOISE HOSPITAL

S. C. Arrendiell, a well known and highly respected citizen of this community died at the U. S. veterans hospital at Boise Tuesday morning as the result of a lingering illness. The body was brought back to Payette Wednesday morning where the funeral will be held from the Methodist Church at 2:30 Friday afternoon.

A shadow of gloom was cast over the entire community when the news of the death of S. C. Arrendiell reached Payette. While his failing health had caused his friends and loved ones many anxious moments, it was hoped that he might be spared.

He was taken to the U. S. Veteran's hospital at Boise about a month ago and on December 24, underwent an operation of a very serious nature from which he never properly rallied. Death came the morning of January the fifth to relieve his suffering which was most intense.

Schuyler Colfax Arrendiell was born near Mountain City, Tennessee, November 8, 1868. He grew to manhood at this place and on February 16, 1892 was united in marriage to Mattie Morley, who with her mother, is left to mourn her loss. He is also survived by four brothers and two sisters.

They spent twelve years in Oklahoma and five in New Mexico, from which place they move to Payette where they have continued to reside.

He was a man of sterling qualities; while he enjoyed the comforts of his own home he did not hesitate to answer his country's call for men when war was declared with Spain.

He served until the end of the war and when he was honorable discharged from his Country's service he resumed his occupation until his last illness.

He bore his suffering cheerfully, and was always appreciative of the efforts made for his comfort, his wife being in constant attendance to the last.

His pleasant disposition and readiness to help those around him with a kind word as well as material assistance have made for him a large circle of friends.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Pythias Lodge and the Mason Lodge.

The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two-thirty at the Methodist church, Rev. V. E. Hall delivery a touching tribute to the deceased. The songs were furnished by a quartet of his brothers Masons.

The Knights of Pythias and the American Legion attended the body.

The body was laid to rest in the Riverside cemetery, the burial rites being conducted by the Masonic Order.

...66, died at Kennedy Veterans Hospital in Memphis last Wednesday after an illness of two months.
Stout was a native of Johnson county and a farmer. He was a former trustee of Johnson county, former road commissioner, a veteran of World War I, member of the American Legion, member of the Civitan Club here, and a member and deacon of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Jones Stout; two sons, M-Sgt. Ruben Stout, Fort Bragg, N.C., and Bert Stout, Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Mary Alice Johnson, Knoxville; Mrs. Ann Greer, Butler; one foster daughter, Mrs. Pansy Phipps, Knoxville, one step-son, Capt. Fred Jones, USAF, Enid, Okla., one sister, Mrs. J. Frank Stout, Mountain City; two brothers, Dr. P. D. Stout, Bristol, and George W. Stout, Mountain City; 17 grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. from Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday with Rev. Tom Worley, Rev. Sam Tatum and A. E. Browne officiating. Burial was in the Stout cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Vaughn Stout, Bruce Roberts, Edgar Bumgardner, Rex Stout, Teddy Pierce, John A. Shown, Delmar Lowe, and Ralph Grandstaff. Flower bearers were neighbors and ladies of the church.

ELIZABETHTON - Larry Glenn White, 75, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the Community Living Center, James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Seth G. & Clara Ina Sheffield White. Larry was a 1960 graduate of Unaka High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Larry was an educator and teacher for 31 years. He received his degree in Social Studies & Education from West Texas State, Canyon, Texas and his Master Degree in Administration at East Tennessee State University. He began his career of teaching at Dimmitt High School, Dimmitt, Texas, then to Madison County High School, Madison, Virginia where he was a teacher and basketball coach, then to Elizabethton High School where he taught history and was Head Basketball Coach for several years, he also served as Principal at TA Dugger Junior High School, Elizabethton, his last school was Boones Creek Middle School where he was Principal. Larry was a former member of the Elizabethton Civitan Club. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church but in recent years he had been attending Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years: Wynell Barnes White who died August 6, 2006.

Survivors include his children: Marcie Strong & husband Dwayne, Ruckersville, Virginia and Lance White & wife Mary Beth, Murfreesboro, Tenn... Four Grandchildren: Sierra & Mackenzie Strong and Emma Grace & Ian White. His brothers: Gary White & wife Sandy and Lanny White & wife Tootie White, two nieces & two nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roger Hayley officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday will be: Jeff White, Roman White, Luke White, Billy Murphy, Tom Holly, Danny Coombs and Tommy Coombs. Gary Ford White, 76, Elizabethton, born February 22, 1943, passed away after a brief illness at Johnson City Medical Center on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
Gary was employed at North American Rayon, and retired in 2005 from ETSU College of Medicine. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Seth G. and Clara Ina Sheffield White. Gary was a 1961 graduate of Unaka High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Glen White, and sister-in-law, Wynell White.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Ashworth White; children, Jeff White and wife Bonnie, Elizabethton, Tenn., and Julie Murphy and husband Billy, Johnson City, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Luke, Katie, Michaela, Bella and Maggie White and Meghan and Padraig Murphy; his brother, Lanny White and wife Tootie White; two brothers-in-law, Richard Ashworth and David Ashworth; nephews, Roman White and Lance White; nieces, Marcie Strong and Mandy Holly; several cherished cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his 'special son,' Kevin "Snake" Lewis.
Gary was a member of West Side Christian Church in Elizabethton, Tenn.
Gary had several hobbies and interests with many great friends gained along the way. Gary was involved in several clubs including: The East Tennessee Antique Engine Club, The 'Barn Buddies,' Elizabethton Saturday Night Car Show Buddies, Unaka High School Class of 1961, Don Hughes Garage in Roan Mountain (Lewis, Bob and Don) and the Easy Auto Board of Directors.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and Johnson City Medical Center ICU for their compassionate care during his brief illness. A special thanks to Dr. Steven Smith and Dr. Jim Davenport, who cared for Gary for many years.

Vera was born March 12, 1925 in the Pandora Community of Johnson County. She was the daughter of the late J. Blaine Stout and Etoila Bell Hicks Stout and stepmother Ruth Jones. She graduated from Steed Business College and worked for Mountain Electric Coop until the birth of her fours sons. She devoted her life to raising them. She grew up in Pandora and was saved at a young age and attended Bethel Baptist Church. She and her family moved their membership to First Baptist Church in Mountain City, in 1967.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, S.D. Jordan, who passed away on December 30, 2001 and brothers, Willard Ray Stout of the home and David " Bert " Stout of Chapin, SC. She is survived by four sons, John B. Jordan of Fort Pierce, FL, Terry Jordan and wife Mary and Jerry Jordan and wife Judy, both of Mountain City, and Phil Jordan and wife Doris of Hermitage, TN; one brother, Rubin Stout of Mount Pleasant, SC; three sisters, Helen Walsh of Columbia, SC, Mary Alice Johnson of Hermitage, TN, and Ann Greer of Mountain City; grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Jordan, Jennifer Campbell, John (Davina) Younce all of Mountain City, Tammy Jordan of Butler, Gerald "Jerry " Jordan, Jr. of Cleveland, MS, Sarah Jordan and Justin Jordan of Hermitage, TN; seven great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She also left many friends at the nursing home and her special friend Minister Jim Hutchinson.

Her family would like to thank all the staff and workers at Mountain City Care Center for their love and affection enabling our mother to be so happy and the care she was given. We would like to thank Caris Healthcare for their wonderful services they provided in her last four days of life. We would like to thank Doctor John Whitlock for the many years of health care he provided and the Johnson County Rescue Squad for their many trips to the Boone Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at First Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell and Dr. Kenneth Jordan to officiate. MOUNTAIN CITY — Mrs. Emily G. Millsaps, age 89, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

She was born on May 27, 1926 to the late James William and Lucinda Stout Grindstaff.

In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Millsaps; a son, Richard "Rick" Millsaps; and brother, Florian Grindstaff.

Emily was an amazing lady who was very special to everyone who knew her. She touched many young lives in Johnson County, Tennessee, as indicated by her 51+ years in education. Seeing those young children walk through the doorway into her classroom was all she needed to jump into action! She loved them dearly and each child knew it, no matter their age! Emily was a strong Christian and knew that God had blessed her with many gifts. She made it a habit to share these gifts with those she encountered each day. A strong determination to succeed afforded her opportunities that many might have thought could never be accomplished. Emily achieved many wonderful things throughout her years, being president of this civic group or that church group, but perhaps one of her greatest accomplishments occurred in 1982 when she was elected as the first female Commissioner in Johnson County. Emily retained that position for 30 years.

It seems that Emily's greatest joy, besides her family, was dedicating her time and talents to her church and her community. She was ALWAYS making a list to buy food for some civic event or cooking turkeys or chicken casseroles to serve at a community meal. She was ALWAYS serving and offering her 'service with a smile' to everyone she met.....and that smile!!! It would melt the heart of anyone who knew her and would draw strangers to her. It seems like she taught everyone in the county in one way or the other-----you, your children, your grandchildren, maybe even your great-grandchildren. She let God's love flow through her and His light gave her a purpose to share and give. Oh, that we all would be like that!! Our hearts may be full of sadness, but we must never forget this grand woman, the one who touched our lives so dearly. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mountain City, Maple Chapter #79 Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary.

Emily is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Allen Moody; grandsons, Christopher Moody (Jennifer) and Aaron Moody (Betsy); great grandchild, Maxton Reese Moody; several cousins, three nieces and one nephew and many, many special friends, too numerous to name each of you.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the First Baptist Church. Eastern Star service will follow at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Ricky Campbell to officiate. Dr. Truett Hayes Pierce, age 94, left his earthly body and arrived at his heavenly home on September 7, 2021. He was born on July 22, 1927 in Mountain City, TN, and spent his adult life serving the community and people of Sneedville, TN. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 during World War II and served on the USS Alabama; he was honorably discharged in 1946 and enrolled in ETSU, where he majored in chemistry and physics, and played the tuba in the marching band. It was here that he met his life-long love, Wanda, while she was on a trip with the Knoxville High School Orchestra. They continued dating by writing letters while he was in medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. They were married June 20, 1953, the same week that he graduated from medical school. He then spent one year completing an internship at Knoxville General Hospital.

In 1954, Dr. Pierce moved to Sneedville with Wanda to help start the first Hancock County Hospital. He had originally planned to stay only temporarily, but soon fell in love with the people and community. Here he was instrumental in expanding the hospital to 60 beds with the help of his wife who served as nursing supervisor. He took pride in being a “country doctor,” often making house calls and working all hours of the night. He strived to be a living embodiment of Wanda’s favorite Bible verse, Luke 12:48: To whom much is given, much more is required.

During his 94 years, Dr. Pierce served many roles. He was a physician, hospital administrator, mayor of Sneedville, school board chairman, Shriner, member of Lions Club and Jaycees, board of directors for Farm Bureau, and the board of directors for Walters State Community College where he established two scholarships, and for Carson Newman where he established one. He was a devout Christian, first committing his life to Jesus as a child at Bethel Baptist Church in Mountain City and later as a member of First Baptist Church in Sneedville where he served as a deacon for over 5 decades. However, of all the hats he wore, he was proudest to be called the many titles he was called by his family; son, brother, uncle, husband, father, papaw, and great-papaw.

Dr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents, David and Dora; brothers, Warren and Teddy; sister, Lenore; niece, Lisa; and beloved wife, Wanda. He leaves his memory and legacy to be carried on by his brother, Benny; daughters, Patricia, Nancy (Donnie Seal), and Janie (LJ Elliott); grandchildren, Brad (Mandy) Seal, Kim Seal, Tara Marion(Kenny), Ross Hopkins (Becky), Amanda Wray (Matt), and Drew Elliott; great-grandchildren Maylyn, Barrett, Allison, and Dane Seal; Brynlee and Paxton Marion; Dawn and Levi Hopkins; and Keaton, Hailey, and Greeah Wray; dear companion Bella the cat; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, friends, and community.

Graveside service was held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 2 P.M. in Butler, TN at Butler Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers: Donnie Seal, Brad Seal, Ross Hopkins, Kenny Marion, Lynn Greever, and LJ Elliott.

Mrs. Hamp-ton was a life long res-i-dent of John-son City. She was the daugh-ter of the late James El-bert and Anna Joe Vaughan Lowe.

Ted W. "Pawy" Lowe, 88, passed away, Wednesday, November 21st, 2018 peacefully at home, after a brief illness.

Pawy, as he was known to everyone, was born July 27th, 1930 in Washington County, TN to the late Leslie and Lola Lowe. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served his country in the Korean War. Pawy worked at Klopman Mills, Coca Cola Bottling Co, and retired from EZ Painter. He was the oldest living member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he attended regularly until his health began to fail.

Pawy enjoyed taking his family on camping trips, working his garden, mowing his yard, and watching western movies. He had several trades, one being an electrician; he wired several homes for his family and working on appliances for friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Lowe and brother-in-law, Bill White.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie "Mawy" Lowe, of the home. Two daughters and son-in-law's; Kathy and Phil Blevins, Karen and Danny Burgess. Five grandchildren and their spouses; Michelle and Wesley Whaley, Tonya and Jesse Wilcox, Melissa and Tim Bailey, Josh and Jayne Hathaway, and Chad and Alecia Burgess. Thirteen great-grandchildren; Caitlyn and Corban Rodefer, Logan, Connor, Tanner, Hudson, and Tucker Bailey. Blake, Jude, Penelope, and Eden Hathaway. Madison and Mason Burgess. JOHNSON CITY - Wanda L. Tipton, 79, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

She was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late Luther Garland and Agnes Keller Jones. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Glen Tipton, two brothers, Buck and Del Garland.

Wanda loved to cook and feed everyone she met. She had a big heart and was always willing to help. She retired from Leon-Fernbach after twenty years of service as the head inspector.

ELIZABETHTON - Master Sergeant James Andrew Whaley, US Army (Ret.), age 77, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

James was born in Butler, Tennessee to the late David Clifford Whaley and Rosa Lee Lunceford Whaley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jeanette Deloach Whaley; and his brother, Jerry Wayne Whaley.

James was a graduate of Hampton High School, where he had played football and basketball. He was a United States Army veteran of 22 years, during which he did two tours in the Korean War and three tours in the Vietnam War. James was a Green Beret and spent over 16 years overseas on duty. James received several awards during his service time including, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, RVN Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal 3D OLC, RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), 4 Overseas Service Bars, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Senior Aircraft Crewman Badge, Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, Master Aircraft Crewman Badge, and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was known affectionately by his VA co-workers as the "popcorn man." James attended Long Hollow Baptist Church and was a member of the DAV, the Shriners, and was a Mason. He was very proud of his military service and truly loved being a servant to his country and his community, he also loved his church and his church family and enjoyed fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancé, whom he loved dearly and would have married in January 2018, Lavonia Potter Austin, of the home; three sisters, Dorothy Deaton, of Elizabethton and Edith Brown Watson and Mary Stout, both of Indianapolis, Indiana. James is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and Lavonia's great niece, Emma, who he called "sweet pea."

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Master Sergeant James Andrew Whaley will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Ray Stockton and Rev. Ray Green, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sounds of Victory and Margaret Calderon.

ELIZABETHTON - U.G. Cole, age 90, of the Stoney Creek community of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

He was a son of the late Albert and Amanda Campbell Cole and was born in Carter County on June 2, 1928. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Cole and Massie Cole; two brothers, Spurgeon Cole and Conley Cole; and two sisters, Myrtle Nidiffer and Juanita Hardin.

U.G. retried after twenty-two years from the Carter County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church, enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music and loved working around his home.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-five years, Ethel Linville Cole of the home; four sons, Terry Cole of Elizabethton, Willie Cole and Grant Cole, both of N.C. and Randy Cole and his wife, Theresa of Elizabethton; two daughters, Geneva Lauterbach and Barbara Ann Teston and her husband, Jim, all of N.C.; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

MOUNTAIN CITY - John B. Shoun, age 80 of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away, Monday, October 23, 2017, at Greystone Healthcare Center in Blountville, TN.

He was born on June 8, 1937, to the late Frank C. Shoun and Charlotte Elizabeth Bingham Shoun. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Kempie Shoun.

John was a wonderful (the very best ever) husband and father. He always had a calm demeanor and was a good neighbor. He loved going to Doe Valley Food Mart for coffee and always had his Levi Garrett chewing tobacco with him. He did not travel much but really enjoyed it when he did leave the farm. He was happiest when he was at home tending his cows and spending time with his family. He enjoyed helping others and spent his life doing so. He was a loyal "Ford Man" and loved Massey Ferguson tractors. John passing by in his red Ford pickup was a common and well recognized sight in Doe Valley. He had a special cat, Mama Cat and three very beloved grandpuppies Briggs, Piper, and the late Kayla. Johns life exemplified Christianity and was truly the last of a dying breed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years Carolyn A. Shoun; daughter, Elizabeth Leanne Shoun, and fiancé Scott Hodge, whom John thought of as a son; one sister, Carol Ann Shoun Clark and husband Robert ; one brother, Franklin Shoun, sister-in-law, Betty Parise and husband Ed; sister-in-law, Marilyn Cunningham and husband Dr. George Cunningham.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gail Hartley, John Brookshire, and George Lowe officiating. Eulogy will be presented by nephew, Russell Parise. Donald Leonard Shoun, age 75 of Mountain City, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020. He was born February 19, 1945 to the late Thelma Stout. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a special aunt who raised him from early childhood, Bernice “Bo” Shoun Stamper, an uncle, William Shoun, a son, Richard Shoun, a sister, Judy K. Wilson, and a brother, James Earl “Jim Bo” Stout.

Donald was a veteran of the United States Army, having retired from a military career.

Donald was a truck driver for many years and he truly enjoyed driving. He also loved antique cars and Nascar racing, especially Dale Earnhardt.

Those left to cherish his memories include a daughter Dawn Marie Morrison and husband Royce “Scooter” Morrison, Jr., a brother, Gary G. Stout, grandchildren, Jace Morrison, Bailey Morrison, Emilee Merritt, and Sydnee Merritt, nieces and nephews, Michael Essick and wife Jessie, Theresa McElyea and husband Tony, Sylvia Humphrey and husband Selmer, Jamie Stout, Shane Stout, as well as several great nieces and nephews, several cousins and special friends.

Judy Kay Wilson, age 64, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at her home. She was born June 1, 1954 in Johnson County, TN to the late Walter G. Stout and Thelma Lee Shoun Stout. In addition to her parents Judy was preceded in death one brother, James Earl "JimBo" Stout.

Judy loved her family and being with them. She loved her flowers and especially enjoyed going fishing. Judy was a faithful member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church where she was very active and supportive of the youth group.

Those left to share Judy's memory, in addition to her husband of 40 years, Donald E. Wilson, are her children, Mike Essick and wife Jessie, Theresa McElyea and husband Tony all of Mountain City, step- children, Michael Lee Wilson and wife Janet and Laura M. Slatton all of Knoxville, two brothers, Gary Stout of Lenoir, NC and Donald Shoun of Mountain City, grandchildren, Corey Essick and wife Anna and Jennifer Gardner and husband Cyrus, great- grandchildren, Kennedy Rose Essick, Tillian Reagan Essick, Clark Michael Gardner and Titus James Gardner, many nieces, nephews, cousins and her extended family.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 4, 2018 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Gary Hill and Richard Shepherd to officiate. Special music will be provided. Graveside service and burial will follow the funeral service from the Shoun- McEwen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Corey Essick, Tony McElyea, Kenneth Grindstaff, Ronnie Fox, Dudley Wilson and Bob Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Stout, Jay Day, Don Shoun, Gary Stout, Tony Woodard and Cyrus Gardner.
