Cart Whitehead, 80, of Route 2, Hampton, died at the home of a son, Garfield Whitehead of Hampton, Thursday at 9:00 a.m. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Dennis Cove Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors are two sons, Garfield and Coon Whitehead, both of Hampton; one daughter, Mrs. Hannah Carden of Hampton; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Tempie Ward of Hampton, and Mrs. Nancy Guinn and Miss Martha Whitehead, both of Roan Mountain; three brothers, Cleve, Dan and John Whitehead all of Hampton; and one half-brother, Jim Arnett of Hampton.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dennis Cove School House with the Rev. Charley Campbell. Burial will be in the Whitehead Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lundy Long, two sons, Gile and Onzalo Long.

HAMPTON - Linda Lou Whitehead Hughes, 96, Hampton, passed away Sunday August 25, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born May 13, 1923 on Dennis Cove Mountain to the late Lloyd & Hettie Ward Whitehead. Her father's family was one of the earliest settlers of Dennis Cove Mountain. She was a graduate of Cloudland High School. Mrs. Hughes taught school on Dennis Cove Mountain for several years. She was a housewife, farmer, loved to read, sing, quilt and sew. In earlier years she attended Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Nathan Hughes in 1984, by three children: Loretta Hughes, Wayne Hughes and Larry Hughes, Three Grandchildren: Allen Hughes, Christy Hughes and Larry Hughes, Jr and six brothers & sisters.

Survivors include her children: Lloyd (Barbara) Hughes, Asheville, NC, Bill (Barbara) Hughes, Elizabethton and Brenda (Rocky) Bridgeman, Hampton. 14 Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren. Several nieces & nephews.

Rev. Raymond J. Whitehead, 88, 229 Garrison Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following a brief illness.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Dan and Bertha Ward Whitehead. Rev. Whitehead served in the U.S. Navy, and was also a farmer, woodworker and minister. Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church was his church home. Rev. Whitehead served the following Freewill Baptist Churches as Pastor: Carter County: Friendship, Upper Gap Creek, Sugar Hollow, Oak Hill and Millers Grove; Johnson County: Southside; Unicoi County: Mt. O'Dell, Mtn. Dale and Park Street; Yancey County, N.C.: Millers Chapel and Pattersons Branch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers. Survivors include his wife, Ella Greene Whitehead, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton; two daughters and son-in-laws, Ella Louise and Dennis Stevens, Elizabethton, and Judy Ann and Jay Blythe, Scottsburg, Ind.; a grandson and fiance, Larry Lynn Moreland and Rebecca Ann Taylor, Elizabethton; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Moreland, Elizabethton; and three sisters, Rose Largent, Hampton, Kate Cousins, Johnson City, and Hattie Schwartz, Adrian, Mich. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Rev. Whitehead will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Jay Blythe and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Robert Ray and Pat Ray. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence, 229 Garrison Hollow Road, Elizabethton, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Ellen Whitehead Stout, 83, Hampton, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, with her six girls by her side. She was born in Dennis cove on June 02, 1939, to the late John H. and Bessie Townsend Whitehead. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Braemar Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook, not only cooking for her family, but also for any neighborhood children that happened to be in her house around meal time. She was well known by the community of her cooking ability. She was also preceded in death by a son Andy Stout, two sons-in-law: Larry Blevins and Jerry Stout, one daughter-in-law, Sharon Stout, one great-grandson, her siblings: Ernest, Bynum, Cordia, Stewart, Mack, Christine, Lee, and Sam. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She leaves behind a loving husband of 67 years, Herman Stout. Also, left to cherish her memory are her children: Charlotte Sue Ellison (Ted), Margie Guinn (Rick), Amy Lyons (James), Roger Stout (Sandy), Lisa Stout, Abby Taylor, and Tina Adkins (Danny); 15 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Ellen will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in the Morton-Cave Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Patrick, Joey and Timmy Guinn, Johnny, Brandon and Charles Stout, Justin Adkins and Clay Stout. Goldie Ann Lambert, 91, 1666 Hillview Drive, Elizabethton, died Monday, September 18, 2006, at Hillview Health Center.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Andy and Julie Hartley Lunceford.

Mrs. Lambert was a homemaker and a member of Valley Forge House of Prayer.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lambert was preceded in death by a son, Tony Clawson, three husbands, Gurney Clawson, Roy Potter and Ross Lambert, and four brothers, Robert Lunceford, Dewey Lunceford, Martin Lunceford and Joe Lunceford.

Survivors include three daughters, Georgia Rosenbaum and Maxine Hyder, both of Elizabethton, and Ella Faye Rash of Johnson City; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one granddaughter that loved and cared for her, Rochelle Darnell of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Ceila Mae Lyons of Johnson City and Lona Potter of Indiana. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Lambert will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Potter officiating. A Carter County native, he was the son of the late Jacob B. and Mamie Banner Lunceford. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lunceford, and a sister, Bonnie Miller.

Mr. Lunceford was retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 17 years, during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post No. 2166. He was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Davis Lunceford, of the home, two sisters, Beulah Cordell, Elizabethton, and Helen Davis, Hampton, and several nieces and nephews.

Helen L. Davis, age 90, of Hampton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 14, 2021, at her residence. Helen was born in Carter County to the late Jacob B. Lunceford and Maymie Banner Lunceford. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Davis; a brother, Freamon Lunsford; two sisters, Beulah Cordell and Bonnie Miller; and a son-in-law, Jackie Lee Taylor.
Helen was a very meticulous housewife and a devout Christian lady. She was proud of being a veteran’s wife and was a wonderful and devoted mother. She was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church for close to 50 years. She had worked at the old Carter County Memorial Hospital in Elizabethton as a housekeeper until she met her husband and became a housewife. Helen enjoyed making and painting ceramics, cooking and baking but above all else, she loved her family and her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her many wonderful memories include her son, Kevin Scott Davis, of Hampton; her daughter, Vicky Lynn Taylor, of Jonesborough; her grandchildren, Harley Cheyenne Davis, of Elizabethton, Misty Dawn Dean, of Simpsonville, SC, Joshua Ashley Estep, of Houston, TX and Justin Lee Taylor, of Simpsonville, SC. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors also survive.

Herman enjoyed restoring and selling old cars.
Mr. Byers is survived by his caretaker and friend, Samentha Presnell, of Hampton.

Corda G. Hyatt, 93, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, from the home of her daughter, Helen Hyatt White, following an extended illness.

She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Walter and Goldie Irick Greer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Hyatt; a son, James Hyatt; a sister, Dot Greer; four brothers, Ned, Ray, Bob and Dan Greer; and two grandsons, James Hyatt Jr. and Ezra Cruthers.

Ms. Hyatt was a retired janitor for the Valley Forge Christian Church, having served for over forty years, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church and loved making quilts and sewing.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen Hyatt White and husband, Greg, Elizabethton; one son, Roy Hyatt, Elizabethton; one sister, Chloe Fleenor, Mountain City, TN; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and Sandy Vestal, whom she cared for and considered her family. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Ms. Hyatt will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2013, in the Valley Forge Christian Church with Mr. David Siebenaler, Minister, and Mr. H. Clay Bailey, Minister, officiating.

Mr. Greer was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church and a former Sunday
School teacher for the Old Men's Fellowship Class. He was a retired
self-employed painter and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War
II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dugger Greer, of the home; three
daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol and Loyd Greer, Elizabethton, Nona
Gilbert and Randy Gruntzel, Newport, and Kathy Garrison, Spring City; two
sons and a daughter-in-law, Teddy and Evelyn Greer and Jerry Greer, all of
Elizabethton; a brother, Ray Greer, Elizabethton; and three sisters, Cordie

November 11, 2004, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Greer was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Walter
and Goldie Irick Greer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Mary Rosie Parlier Greer, three brothers, Dan Greer,
Bob Greer and Ned Greer, and a sister, Dottie Greer.

Mr. Greer was a member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church and a retired
employee of East Tennessee Chair Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran,
having served in World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Evans, Hickory, N.C., and Joyce
Wilson, Elizabethton; a son, Paul Greer, Winter Park, Fla.; and two
sisters, Cordie Hyatt, Elizabethton, and Chloe Fleenor, Mountain City.
Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews also survive.

JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Chloe Greer Fleenor, age 89, of Johnson City, completed her life journey and ascended to Heaven on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 after a long period of declining health.

She moved to Johnson City four years ago to be closer to her children, but lived most of her life in the Mountain City and Butler communities.

Mrs. Fleenor was a daughter of the late Walter Grady Greer and Golda Irick Greer. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Ned, Dan, Ray and Bob; and two sisters, Corda Hyatt and Dottie M. Greer.

Mrs. Fleenor was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and was currently attending services at Centerview Church of Christ. She also participated in a weekly Bible class at Mekkah's Meadows, led by Tim Hall, minister of Central Church of Christ. She enjoyed making cookies for Bible school, as well as for her neighbors at Mekkah's Meadows. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and tending her flowers. She made numerous afghans for family and friends, as well as baby blankets.

Mrs. Fleenor was a retired employee of Shadowline in Boone, N.C.

Mrs. Fleenor is survived by a son, Monte D. Fleenor and his wife, Frances, of Elizabethton; a daughter, Karen L. Fleenor and husband Charlie, of Johnson City; a special niece, Carolyn Greer. Several nieces and nephews also survive, as well as her church family. She encouraged her children to achieve and to be the best they could be.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Chloe Greer Fleenor will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Tony Hoss, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.

Dean was a hard worker and smiled all the time. He loved to farm and work with all his neighbors. Dean was a story teller and loved to tell stories from the past.

Robert was a farmer and loved gardening, being outdoors, working and loved farming.

Flora was a military veteran who served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) from 1954-1956. She enjoyed animals, had a green thumb, loved gardening – especially growing flowers and spending time with her family and many friends.

Survivors include her four children, Robbi Jackson of Fayetteville, NC; Billie Cole (Charles) of Kingsport; Dennis Jackson of Hampton; and Johnny Jackson of Fayetteville, NC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service to honor the life of Flora Belle Jackson will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Bailey Family Cemetery (Whaley Town Road in Butler, TN).

ELIZABETHTON - Ella Louise Whitehead Stevens, 74, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born January 16, 1947 in Hampton to the late Raymond & Ella Greene Whitehead. Louise was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School and attended Elizabethton Business College. She was retired Payroll Clerk at Summers-Taylor Inc. She was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years: Dennis Stevens. Two Sisters: Judy Blythe, Elizabethton and Carmen Greene of South Carolina. Two God Children: Eric Lian and Iris Lian both of Texas. Two special nephews: Larry Moreland and Morgan Stevens, One special niece: Helen Stevens. Special great niece and nephew Olivia Grace Moreland and Evan Wayne Moreland. Her special cousins: Glen Creasey, Vernon Clemons and Delores Boling. He special friends: Leisha Coggins, Juanita S. Miller and Charlie & Christina Lian. Several brothers and sisters-in-law. ELIZABETHTON - Georgia Lee Clawson Rosenbaum, 77, Elizabethton passed away December 25, 2019 in the Hillview Health Center.

Born December 25, 1942 in Butler, Tennessee to the late Gurney & Goldie Lunceford Clawson. She worked at TPI. She also worked at KFC for several years. Georgia was a member and Past President of the Carter County Crewettes. She was a member of Valley Forge House of Prayer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Tony Clawson, Roy Potter and Ross Lambert her step-dads. She loved working in her home and her family.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years Ernest "Rosie" Rosenbaum. Her Children: Dexter (Lora) Adkins, Eddie Adkins, Rochelle (Mickey) Darnell and Johnny (Shay) Hicks. Lloyd M. Dugger, 62, 168 Buntontown Road, Butler, died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Dugger was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Arthur and Blanche Finney Dugger. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Ray, Lee and Ed Dugger.
Mr. Dugger was a member of Stout Hill Church of Christ and a retired employee of Summers-Taylor, Inc. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Irick Dugger, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Ricky Guy, Elk Park, N.C., and Lori and Kenneth Lowe, Mountain City; three grandchildren, Rebecca and Jonathan Guy, both of Elk Park, N.C., and Matthew Hicks, Mountain City; three sisters, Louella Jones, Adamsville, Betty Jo Montgomery, Hampton, and Peggy Brown, Kingsport; and two brothers, Clyde Dugger, Elizabethton, and Homer Dugger, Johnson City. JOHNSON CITY - Ella Pearl Dugger Good Donati Beam, 70, Johnson City passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at her residence with her family at her side.

Ella was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was the daughter of the late Chancey and Rita Murr Dugger. She was owner and operator of Double D Wallpaper. Ella had served on the Board of Directors of the McCarty Cemetery for many years. She loved her family, roses and country music.

Survivors include her children, Jeff Good and his wife, Jill of Tampa, FL; a daughter, Jennifer Donati of Johnson City; Terry Beam and wife, Joann, Michael Beam and family all of Erwin and Tony Beam and family of Georgia; adopted daughter, Melissa Delavega and husband, Salvador of Jonesborough; a brother, Robert Dean Dugger and wife, Phyllis of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Jessica Crawford and husband, Vance, Austin Beam and family, Whitney Lewis and husband, Derick, Dustin Donati, Sara Delavega and Salvador Delavega Jr.. great-grandchildren, Caroline, Jaden, Jaren and Avery; an aunt, Emma Sue Pate Payne of Johnson City; The Watkins family, her nephews, Cory and Wesley Dugger; her best friend, Billy Sue McKinney; several cousins; also her puppies, Tabby and Toby who she called her babies.

Linda Bass Street, age 69, of Hampton, passed away on October 4, 2022, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton. Linda was born in Carter County on April 13, 1953, to the late Ham and Lona Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herb Bass; brother, Bobby Campbell his wife, Reba; and sister, Pat Hicks.

Most people remember Linda from her and Herb’s business in Mountain City and also the flea market in Elizabethton. Linda was a loving and caring person and was loved by everyone that knew her.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter and the love of her life, Sandy Miller; sisters Wilma Ball, Kathy Shipley, Sheila Reece (Leonard); brothers David Campbell (Shirley), Rick Campbell (Della); brother-in-law, Homer Hicks; significant other, Wes Holtsclaw; her babies, Patches, and Susie; several nieces and nephews.

It was her wish to be cremated, and there will be no formal services held.

Teddy D. Greer, age 67, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from the Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following a brief illness.

Teddy was a native of Carter County and was a son of the late Ned and Betty Dugger Greer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ricky and Jerry Greer.

Mr. Greer retired from Gardner Paint Services, where he was employed as a painter for 33 years. He was a member of North Side Baptist Church and liked to fish.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Evelyn Price Greer, of the home; two daughters, Karen Bates and husband Johnny, Elizabethton, and April Bascal, Athens, TN; three sons, Johnny Greer and wife Patti, Piney Flats, TN, Christopher Greer, Elizabethton, and Hosea Greer, of the home; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Carolyn Greer, Kathy Greer, and Nona Gilbert, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebration of life service for Mr. Teddy D. Greer will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 3, 2015, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. John Perkins, Jr. and Rev. Mike Dickenson, officiating.

Maxine Jeanette Reece Michael passed into eternal rest on December 5, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at Hermitage Health Center in Elizabethton, Tennessee. A faithful servant of the Lord, she has completed her course with the race won.

The eldest of nine children, she was born on October 22, 1935, in Shady Valley to the late Martin L. Reece and the late Wilma Heaton Reece. She grew up in Trade, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Michael. She was also preceded by her second husband, Andy Price. Her son, Robert B. Michael, and brothers, Freddie Reece, Jerry Reece, Johnnie Reece, Tommie Reece, and Eugene Reece also precede her.

She is survived by a large, loving family: Her children, Hazel (John) Hollaway, Cathy (Ernest Ray) Michael, Marty (Karen Horne) Michael, Joy (Brenden) Michael Bohannon, and daughter-in-law Althea Michael; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; Brothers Gary (Roseletta) Reece, Bill (Glenda) Reece, sister Margaret (Larry) Wallace, sisters-in-law Carolyn Reece, Phyllis Reece, and Elaine Reece and a great number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was especially close to her grandchildren Madalyn, Lauryn, Kristyn, and Cormac.

During her life Maxine filled a number of roles, among them: homemaker, a worker in the bean fields when Mountain City was the Green Bean Capitol of the World, keeping boarders while her young family lived in Pennsylvania, cleaning for individuals and businesses in Oregon and Tennessee, as well as the Mountain City and Trade Post Offices, operating a variety store in the Old Trade School, working at both Burlington and Leco, making and selling beautiful quilts, and was a contract mail carrier for many years. She took great joy and pride in hard work and a job well done, but the roles of which she was most proud was being a mother and grandmother.

She became a Christian at Centerview Church of Christ in Trade and was a member of First Christian Church of Mountain City for decades. She maintained a card ministry for the Joy Class at FCC until dementia stole her ability to do so.

Maxine was a voracious reader throughout most of her life. She was an avid gardener known for her beautiful yard on North Church Street. She loved every baby she ever saw, she never met a Little Debbie cake she didn’t like, and made the absolute best potato soup and cornbread that anyone has ever had.

A viewing for all immediate and extended family members will be from 11:00 to 11:30 AM on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Mountain City Funeral Home. A service led by Pastor Dwayne Dickson will be held from 11:30-12:30 with interment at Sunset Memorial Park following. Pallbearers are Marty Michael, John Hollaway, Peyton Hollaway, David Hollaway, Brenden Bohannon, and Ernest Ray.

Hope Reece, age 68 of Trade, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Watauga Medical Center. Hope was born on October 30, 1952 to the late Bruce Reece and Willie Canter Proffitt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lynda Greene, Cynthia Lipford, and brothers, Sherry Reece, Wayne Reece, David Reece, and Norman Reece.

Hope was very spirited and charismatic. She was an incredibly strong woman who endured more than most could and more than anyone should. She also adored her little dog named Trouble.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Kimberly Barnett; granddaughters, Brooklyn Hope Barnett, and her partner in crime, Halei Reid Barnett; sisters, Audrey Faith Thomas, Charity Jane Reece; brother, Joe Reece; several nieces, nephews and special friends; and a special mention to Audrey for always being there for her.

Hope will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Reece Cemetery on Bulldog Road in Trade.

Bobby Sherwin Long, age 83, passed away on January 11, 2022. Bobby was born on February 14, 1938 in Shady Valley, TN to the late Giles M. Long and Mary Ann Garland Long. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Leona Dumic Long Blevins; his daughter, Sherrie Dee Long, and niece Elizabeth Brookshire.

Bobby was a 1956 graduate of Johnson County High School. After graduating from high school he joined the Army. After leaving the Army he worked with an electrical company in South Carolina for several years. He became a self-employed entrepreneur, buying and selling antiques and various collectibles. Bobby was a self-taught guitar player and singer. He loved to sing and play at our family reunions by entertaining all his family and friends. He also played in several different musical bands.

Bobby was a member of the Shady Valley Church of Christ. He also listened to In Touch Ministries of Dr. Charles Stanley on TV on Sunday morning.

He is survived by his sisters, Jolene Long Litton (husband George and sons Leonard and Patrick), Daisy Everett (son, Paul T. Everett), Mary Glenn Long Hawkins (son, Jeffrey Brookshire, daughter, Lisa Hawkins, grandson, Robby Moody, granddaughter, Kaitlin Shephard).

This was the day, February 27th, 2018, that the Lord had made to take Steven Douglas Whitehead home to be with his family in Heaven.

Steve went to bed on Monday night, February 26th and died peacefully during the night.

Steven was born on May 31st, 1960, to Ollie Carden Whitehead and Clarence Walter Whitehead of Carter County. They were waiting at the River Jordan for him as was his brother Clarence Walter Whitehead, Jr. and his sister, Wanda Yvonne (Bonnie) Whitehead Ritchie Gentry. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Garfield and Ethel (Lacey) Whitehead and his maternal grandparents Laney James Carden and Alice (Teague) Carden. Many other uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends were there to receive him.

He is survived by a sister Glenda Gail Whitehead McCracken formerly of Hampton, TN currently residing in Orfordville, WI; a brother-in law Leslie Lewis McCracken; niece Christina McCracken, Orfordville, WI; nephews John Joseph McCracken (Katie Jacoby) Madison, WI; Andrew Daniel Whitehead (Shanda Campbell); great-niece Kaila Zevon Whitehead of Johnson City, TN; a guardian nephew Jeffery Rutter, Oshkosh, WI; brother-in law Michael Charles Gentry of Siam as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Steven was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church. A graduate of Hampton High and ETSU, he was a professional cook all of his life, beginning his career at Gus's Greek Restaurant, Corpus Christi TX and working at CornerStone (Appalachian Christian Village) when he passed. He will be missed by many co-workers and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday March 3 th 2018. A service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Michael Rich, Nathan Rankin, Arthur Kennedy, Danny Holden, Melvin Bentley and other family members and friends. Songs will be some of his favorite hymns and service by immediate family.

ELIZABETHTON - Steve Dugger, age 60, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord from Duke University on Monday, November 26, 2018, following a courageous battle.


Steve was born in Elizabethton to Walter Clyde Dugger and Norma Ruth Irick Dugger, of Elizabethton.

Steve was a loving husband and father and was a very active member of Valley Forge United Methodist Church. He retired from the Carter County Highway Department, where he had worked on the paving crew. Steve enjoyed participating in Revolutionary War Re-Enactments with the re-enactment group, Company of Over Mountain Men.

Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents, include his wife, Ginger Sparger Dugger, of the home; his son, Nathan Dugger, of Elizabethton; his daughter, Bethany Wachterman and husband Jason, of Waynesville, NC; one brother, Glenn Dugger and wife Greta, of Port Orange, FL; one sister, Sherry Ayers and husband Steve, of Johnson City; his niece, Emily Dugger; and four nephews, Ian Dugger, Austin Ayers, Eli Ayers and Kevin Sparger.

Billy Edward Dugger, age 64 of 216 Pandora Ln, Butler, TN passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Billy was born on May 27, 1957 in Johnson City, TN to the Annie Bennett Dugger and the late William Edward Dugger. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother, David Dugger.

Billy loved to hunt, fish and being outdoors. Most of all he loved being with his grandkids. He was of the Baptist faith.
