Mrs. Martha Arnold, age 69, of Route 1, Doeville, Tenn. died today at 1 a.m. at her home after a lingering illness.
Survivors are the husband, John Arnold; one daughter, Mrs. W. H. MATILDA CHURCH MOODY
Matilda Church Moody, 55, was born May 11, 1892 and died July 18, 1947. About 35 years ago she married to Clint Moody. To this union were born two children: Mrs. Garrison Garland and Mrs. Ralph Danner.
She is survived by six sisters and one brother: Mrs. Martha Arnold, Mrs. Rebecca Tester, Mrs. Sarah Pierce, Mrs. Alice Whaley, Mrs. Bessie Garland, and Garfield Church. One brother, John Church, preceded her in death. The deceased is also survived by nine grandchildren and a host of friends.
Mrs. Moody was converted and joined the church 33 years ago.
Funeral was held July 21 with Rev. R. L. Painter and Rev. J. O. Jones officiating. Interment was in Shoun Cemetery at Doeville.

ELIZABETHTON - Ola Hicks, age 92, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from Princeton Transitional Care in Johnson City. Ola was born in Carter County to the late Dave and Minnie Hamby Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Carl Hicks; six sisters; and three brothers.

Ola had worked at North American Rayon Corporation and later at Dino’s Restaurant. She was a member of Doe River Baptist Church for over 65 years. Ola loved to cook and always had a dessert or other items cooked at all times in case a guest were to drop by. Anyone that stopped by seldom left without eating. She also enjoyed reading her Bible and the newspaper.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathy Hicks, of the home; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as a special nephew, Kenny Jones and his family also survive.

A graveside service to celebrate Ola’s life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Kent Hyder, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Joey Cole. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Claude Hamby, age 75, 249 Campbell Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, died at his residence, Wednesday, July 12, 2006, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Barney and Martha Ashley Hamby. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Claude Hamby was a loving husband, dad, papaw and father-in-law. He was a friend to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He loved gardening and watching wrestling.
Mr. Hamby was of the Baptist faith and a retired employee of the Carter County Highway Department, after twenty-three years.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-three years, Lucille Campbell Hamby, of the home;
a loving daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Rev. Jude Hughes, Roan Mountain; loving sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Brenda Hamby, Frank and Kathy Hamby, Carroll and Peggy Hamby, Richard Hamby and Fiancée Sharon Vargo, Jay and Carol Hamby, Joe and Mary Ann Hamby, all of Roan Mountain, Mark Hamby and girlfriend Renee Buchanan, Newland, NC,
Wayne and Melissa Hamby, Johnson City, Keith and Ann Hamby, Charlie and Beverly Hamby, both of Elizabethton; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Lorene and Bill Conner and Pauline Moore all of Roan Mountain; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Jay and Sarah Hamby, Roan Mountain and Burnette Hamby, Elizabethton. He had twenty-one grandchildren that meant the world to him and six great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 PM, Friday, July 14, 2006, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Jude Hughes and Rev. Jim Storie officiating.
Music will be provided by Rev. Jude Hughes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday prior to the service.
The graveside service and interment will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 15th in Isaacs Cemetery, Buck Mountain community, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Michael Hughes, Jonathan Hughes, B.J. Hughes, Benjie Hughes, James Cardwell and Joey Mavers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren. A special thank you to Adventa Hospice of Elizabethton, staff and nurses for all your help through this hard time. Also a thank you to Home Health Care of Elizabethton.

He was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Barney and Martha Ashley Hamby. Mr. Hamby was a welder and enjoyed working on cars. He was of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamby was preceded in death by his siblings Lester Hamby, Claude Hamby, Bruce Hamby, Pauline Moore, Lula Belle Ashley and Mary Lou Reynolds. Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years Sarah Hamby of the home, children: Regina Hutcheson, Elizabethton, Jay Hamby and wife Teralyn, Dyer, IN, Bill Hamby, Ravenden, AR, Rick Hamby, Hammond, IN, one half-daughter: Lisa Crook and husband Kevin, Madisonville, KY, eight grandchildren, a sister, Lorene Connors and husband Bill, Roan Mountain and a brother, Burnett Hamby and his companion Eve Booth, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The Celebration of Life service for Mr. Hamby will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 8 at the Tetrick Funeral Home Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Jude Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the Isaac Cemetery. Burnett Hamby, 75, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Roan Mountain, he was a son of the late Barney and Martha Ashley Hamby.
Burnett had lived in Indiana and Arkansas before returning to Carter County. He was a construction worker.
Burnett attended Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Burnett Hamby Jr. and wife Marie Hamby of Elizabethton and Deon Podgorski of Indiana; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Ind.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William & Minnie Franklin Hamby. Marie was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marie was a member of Grace Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years: James Lionel Bunton and four siblings.

ELIZABETHTON - Robert E. "Bob" Hamby, age 89, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was the son of the late William H. and Minnie Hamby. Bob was a U.S. Veteran serving in the Airforce. He received his Bachelor's of Science degree from ETSU. He retired from Mountain Home VA Medical Center as a therapist after a 40-year career. After retirement, he went on to work at the Elizabethton Golf Course. Bob was an avid golfer, a big UT Vols fan and a recipient of the Happy Valley High School All Watauga Conference Award. He was a great family man, and a member of Central Community Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Hamby; sisters, Marie Bunton, Nell Stewart, Betty Jo Williams and Mae Odom and his beloved dog, Winnie. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Charlotte Hamby, of the home; three children, Terri Hamby-Hager and husband Chris Hager, Karen Hamby Hughes and husband, William "Eddie" and Bobby Hamby and fiancé, Melinda Chaber; grandchildren, McKenzie Hughes Miller and husband Matthew, Jared and Carli Hamby; two great-granddaughters, Kyndall and Charlotte Miller; sister, Maxine Woods; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Estep was a native of Avery County, N.C., and a son of the late John Mal and Zora Church Estep. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Estep, and a daughter, Sue Solomon.
Mr. Estep was a former employee of Tri-State Container. He had lived in Detroit, Mich., for a number of years and retired from West-Vaco Container in Detroit. He returned to Elizabethton four months ago. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Anna Estep, Elizabethton; two daughters, Sandra Bates and Peggy Comacho, both of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Raymond Estep, Elizabethton, and Gurney Estep, Tipton, Mich.; and two sisters, Pat Patterson and Betty Jo Ketchem, both of Elizabethton. Ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Melba Estep Julian, age 80, of Hampton suddenly went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was a native of Avery County, NC, but made her home in Carter County. Mrs. Julian was the daughter of the late Conley Ray and Beulah McGuire Estep. She attended Hampton Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Presnell, her brothers, Bud Estep and Conley Ray Jr .Estep, and her step-mother, Bertie Estep.

Survivors include her husband, Norman M. Julian; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Dan Akers and Norma Sue and Melvin Gwyn; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Teresa Julian, all of Hampton; two granddaughters, Amanda Giles and her husband, Jesse K. of Knoxville; Autumn Julian of Hampton; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Clara Giles, Knoxville; a sister and brother-in-law, Shelby Jean and Robert Oaks; Newland; best friend, Hazel Davis and a special cousin, Bernice Mitchell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Julian was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. She enjoyed gardening and working with flowers. Mrs. Julian was also active in the church and enjoyed helping with the children's programs. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

The funeral service for Mrs. Julian will be conducted on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun officiating. Shelby Jean Oaks, age 78, passed away Monday, January 15, at Franklin Woods hospital.

She was born on August 18, 1939, in Avery County, North Carolina to Conley and Beulah McGuire Estep.

Shelby lived most of her life in Avery County and was a beloved friend to all being fortunate enough to have known her. She was an outstanding basketball player while attending Cranberry High School in the late 1950's, and married her grade school sweetheart, Charlie Robert Oaks in 1957.

Shelby was brought up in a time when folks worked hard, and carried that same ethic throughout her lifetime, helping raise her niece and care for her father after her mother died when she was just 7 years old. She belonged to the Newland First Baptist Church for many years before transferring her membership to Crossnore Baptist Church. She was always ready to aid friend and stranger alike.

She worked for GF Co. and Grandfather Golf and Country Club for 47 years in several management positions, and was well known for her beautiful flower and landscape designs throughout the resort. Shelby was a truly rare individual, and will be deeply missed.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, are a brother, Landon Lee "Bud" Estep, sisters, Hazel Estep Presnell, Melba Estep Julian, and her step-mother Bertie Pitts Estep.

Shelby is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charlie Robert, who will not be attending the services due to extenuating health issues; one daughter: Deborah Oaks Silver; son-in-law: Bobby Silver; granddaughter: Sommer Trivette; grandson: Jordan Silver; great granddaughter: Tatum Cooke, brother-in-law: Norman Julian; sister-in-law: Mary Catherine Estep, Marilyn Oaks Hughes, Patty Oaks Oxendine; niece: Betty Estep and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, all loving her dearly. Her co-workers Paulette Hartley and Kathy Harris held a special place in her heart, and will not be forgotten by the family.

Betty Jean worked for many years at IRC, Shadowline and Grandfather Golf and Country Club. She was a very special mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who cared for others more than herself.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Smith Stout. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Arnold was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church and the Golden Circle Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stansell Arnold, April 3, 1999 and by five Sisters and One Brother.

Survivors include Three Daughters: Shirley Wright Pierce and her husband Sonny Pierce, Elizabethton, Maxine Corum, Mountain City and Brenda Reece and her husband, Roland Reece, Hampton. Two Sons & Daughters-In-Law: Ross and Carolyn Arnold, Mountain City and Roy & Mary Arnold, Butler, Six Grandchildren, Three Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Her Grandson Rev. Eric Wright officiating assisted by Rev. Kreg Smith. Church Sr., age 82, of 1710 Swift Hollow Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Johnson County, he was born March 26, 1922, to the late James and Arrie Swift Church. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two sons, David A. Church Jr. and Dennis M. Church. He was married a number of years to the late Lois S. Church. He was a farmer and had also retired from Burlington Industries. David was a member, for a number of years, of the Johnson County Rescue Squad. He loved to watch wildlife and get together with his family and friends. He was a member of Dewey Church of Christ. David was an Army Veteran, having served in World War II. David is survived by two sons, Bob Church and wife, Helen, of Nashville, Tennessee, and John Church, of Mountain City, Tennessee; five sisters, Marjorie Church, Stella Smiley, Eva June Hedge, Lois Gurney, all of Mountain City, Tennessee, and Della Mae Magnus, of Saskatchewan, Canada; three grandchildren, Michelle Bassett, David Church, both of California, and Chris Church, of Nashville, Tennessee. MOUNTAIN CITY — Marjorie Church, age 79, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at her residence.

She was born in Johnson County, Tennessee on December 13, 1930, to the late James Calvin and Arrie Swift Church. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by two sisters: Anna Pearl Miller and June Hedger; and two brothers: David Church and Claude Church.

Marjorie volunteered at Children's Bible Ministries for several years. She was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia, and attended First Baptist Church of Mountain City. She loved her Lord and was a faithful servant to Him.

Marjorie is survived by sisters: Lois Gurney Long and husband, H Long, Stella Smiley, all of Mountain City, Tennessee, and Della Mae Magnus and husband, Ervin, of Saskatchewan, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010, from the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Campbell and Dave Johnson (Director of CBM Camp) to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Pastor Ricky Campbell, Mr. Ralph Howard and Mr. Allen Mitchell.

Private interment will be in Wilson Cemetery.

Stella Rhea Smiley, age 87, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at her home at Governor’s Bend in Erwin, TN.

She was born in Johnson County, TN on November 23, 1932 to the late James Calvin and Arrie Swift Church. In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Smiley; twin sister, Nella Faye; other sisters, Marjorie Church, Anna Pearl Miller, June Hedger; brothers, David Church and Claude Church.

Stella’s main goal in life was to take as many souls to heaven with her as she could. Along with being a servant to God, she loved to travel. During her many travels, she had the opportunity to visit the Holy Lands twice. Also, in her endeavor to spread the gospel she loved to teach Sunday school, which she did for 26 years, sing in the choir, and play the hand bells. As her memory began to fail her, she had a hard time remembering names so she began to call all women Miss America to make them feel good.

Stella was an auxiliary member of the American Legion and VFW. She was also a devoted member of First Baptist Church and served as chaplain of the local branch of Gideons International Auxiliary. She always carried extra copies of the Gideon’s New Testament to enable herself to witness to others.

Those left to cherish her memories include her sisters, Lois Long and Della Mae Magnus; special friends, Buster and Peggy Brown, Sherry Orcutt, Ruth Brown; special niece, Mary Jane Clay, and her beloved dog, Dixie.

Stella and her two sisters were some of the first campers of CBM Ministries in Tennessee. Stella graduated from Southern Bible College and continued to be instrumental in the continuation of CBM ministries.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at First Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell officiating. A graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Wilson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Jordan, Jerry Jordan, Danny Cullop, Eric Cullop, Joseph Tipton, and Buster Brown. JOHNSON CITY - Billy Jack Smith, 95, Johnson City, died Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Glendale, AZ.

Billy Jack was a native of Johnson City and lived in Dallas, TX from 1952 until returning to Johnson City in 1999. He moved to Glendale, AZ, to live with his son Jeffery Smith and his family in Feb 2021. Billy Jack was a son of the late Vernon and Gertrude Loveless Smith.

Billy Jack was a veteran of World War II and served in the Philippines. After getting married and moving to Dallas, he managed several departments for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for almost 25 years. He worked with David Reagan at the Lamb and Lion Ministries then rounded out his retail career with Dillard’s before working for David Crockett doing small engine repair. After learning that trade, he ran his own small engine repair shop.

Billy Jack was very active in the church. He was an elder at the Piedmont Church of Christ in Dallas, TX. Billy Jack was then ordained and ministered at multiple churches including Eastern Hills Church of Christ in Garland Texas, Mountain View Church of Christ and Locust Street Church of Christ both in Johnson City, he was President of the Village Church, also in Johnson City, and most recently taught at the Chapel at Cornerstone Village in Johnson City. Billy Jack taught well into his 90’s.

In addition to his parents, Billy Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Helen Ruth Simerly Smith, 4 brothers, Harry, Robert, Walter and Charles Smith, 4 sisters, Naomi Smith, Mary Ann Hopkins, Loretta Cloyd and Wanda Smith.

He is survived by four children, Richard A. Smith and wife Sara, Crossville, TN, Jeffery L. Smith and wife Cindie, Glendale, AZ, Patricia A. Mr. Maupin was a native of Watauga County, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Charles Ernest and Maymie Eggers Maupin.

Mr. Maupin retired from Bolton Block after fifty-four years of service. He was a member of the King Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Joshua Maupin; one great granddaughter, Carly Raiyne Nickles.

She was preceded in passing by her brother, Cecil Maupin; brothers-in-law, George Campbell, Carl Ferguson, and Wayne Oliver, and a special friend Clayton Campbell.
Anna was a member of the Rich Acres F.W.B. Church. She loved her church family and listening to gospel music. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Anna is survived by sisters; Bonnie Campbell, Lillian Oliver, Betty Ferguson, Louise Thompson (Richard), Margie Barry (Jim) and Viola Verran, and a very special friend; Clark Verran. Several Nieces and Nephews also remain to cherish Anna’s memory.

Linda Bass Street, age 69, of Hampton, passed away on October 4, 2022, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton. Linda was born in Carter County on April 13, 1953, to the late Ham and Lona Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herb Bass; brother, Bobby Campbell his wife, Reba; and sister, Pat Hicks.

Most people remember Linda from her and Herb’s business in Mountain City and also the flea market in Elizabethton. Linda was a loving and caring person and was loved by everyone that knew her.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter and the love of her life, Sandy Miller; sisters Wilma Ball, Kathy Shipley, Sheila Reece (Leonard); brothers David Campbell (Shirley), Rick Campbell (Della); brother-in-law, Homer Hicks; significant other, Wes Holtsclaw; her babies, Patches, and Susie; several nieces and nephews.

Carroll Hamby, 61, of Roan Mountain, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018, at home with family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Hamby, and a son, Brian Wesley Hamby.

He is also survived by nine brothers and one sister, Michael (Cindy), Frank (Kathy), Richard, Mark, Wayne (Melissa), Jay (Linda), Tina Hughes (Jude), Keith (Ann), Charlie (Beverly) and Joe; and many nieces and nephews.
Carroll was a loving, caring husband, dad, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his family gatherings and holidays.
He had just recently retired from Property Management of Sugar Mountain. He loved working on cars, but most of all he loved his family. Hambone you will truly be missed!!
Services for Carroll Hamby will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, Tenn. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 13, in the Hamby Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Austin, Brian, Alan and Martin Hamby, Doug Davis, David Stevens, Joshua Horney, Tony Malphurs and Chad Street. Honorary pallbearers will be his loving brothers.

HAMPTON - Gregory Banner, 61, Hampton, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at his residence. A native of Carter County, he was born April 8, 1961. He was formerly employed by Tennessee Valley Cable. He loved to play the Guitar and play horseshoe. In earlier years he attended Union Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father Clyde Banner , a sister: Wanda Banner, a niece: Terra Blevins, his grandparents: Essie & Arthur Banner and Lawton & Della Hodge and his aunt: Helena Feathers.

Survivors include his daughter: Linda (Robert) Clawson, Mother: Geraldine Banner, a granddaughter: Rachel Nelson, a great grandson: Carter Eller, a sister: Jamie Blevins and a niece: Kelly Reed.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. David Montgomery officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

ELIZABETHTON - Phillip H. Potter, 86, Elizabethton formerly of Roan Mountain passed away peacefully Wednesday March 8, 2018 after an extended illness.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late David & Etta Julian Potter. Phillip was a graduate of Cloudland High School. He served in the US Navy & US Air Force. He was retired from McLean Trucking Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Roan Mountain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lois Potter, by a son: Steven M. Potter and a brother: Kenneth Potter.

Survivors include a daughter: Laurie Milom & husband Bill, Elizabethton. A son: David R. Potter & wife Patsy, Hendersonville, Tenn. His Sisters: Jewell Hayes & husband Burnett, Elk Park, NC and Peggy Lewis, Lexington, NC. His Grandchildren: Phillip R. Potter & wife Heather, Roan Mountain, Daniel L. Potter & wife Keely, Grand Junction, Colorado, Mindi E. Oaks & husband David and Melissa E. Smith & husband Justin all of Elizabethton. His Great Grandchildren: Phillip T. Potter, Madison Potter, Savannah Potter Ava Oaks and Caleb Potter.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Ben Allen Greene, age 74, of Stoney Hollow Road, Elk Park, passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn.

Ben was born Sept. 1, 1945, in Avery County, a son of the late Geter and Rosa Estep Greene. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and Savior and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the biggest blessing of his life, his great-grandchildren. He also had many friends too numerous to mention.

He is survived by his Wife: Jackie Greene of the home; one Daughter: Angela Abrams and husband Stephen of Kitty Hawk, NC; one Son: Brandon Lambert of Atlanta, Ga.; two Granddaughters, whom he raised: Ashley Bunten and husband Josh and Sarah Isaacs, all of Elk Park; one Son-in-law: Chad Isaacs of Vilas; three Grandsons: Nicholas Dugger of Butler, Tenn., Benjamin Abrams, and Dylan Abrams, both of Kitty Hawk; four Great-granddaughters: Harley Potter, Jada Mae Isaacs, Kimberly Bunten, and Adeline Bunten; two Great-grandsons: Landon Bunten and Titus Isaacs; three Sisters: Ruth Harmon and husband Ken of Sugar Grove, and Blanche Williams of Butler, Tenn., Kay Ward and husband Dennis of Elk Park; one Sister-in-law: Joyce Dugger of Butler, Tenn.; one Brother-in-law: Elbert Ward of Elk Park; one Son-in-law: Barry Oliver of Sugar Grove and one Uncle, Ronald Estep of Buffalo, NY.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one beloved Daughter: Kimberly Greene Oliver; a Brother and Sister-in-law: Reed Greene and his wife Edith; a Sister: Sally Ward; two Brothers-in-law: James Williams and Edward Lambert, and a Niece: Deanna Hicks.

Funeral services for Ben Allen Greene were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body lay in state at the chapel, from 10 to 11 a.m. Officiating was Pastor Derrick Wilson and Pastor Dean Estep. Burial followed in the Abe Trivette Cemetery in Butler, Tenn.

Gregory Lynn Stout, 55, of the Poga Community of Butler, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at his residence. Gregory was born June 9, 1963 in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Mattison Elwood Stout and Gladys Estep Stout. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Stout.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karen Stout, of Michigan; his daughter, Savannah Stout; a brother, Michael Stout, of Michigan; two sisters, Sharon Stout and Tammie Stout, both of Butler, Tenn.; and five stepchildren.
