Mrs. Helen Perry Taunton, 82, 119 Fitzsimmons Hill Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, January 16, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Avery County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Walter Andes, Sr. and Elizabeth Potter Andes.
She had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. She was retired from Quick Cleaners and formerly worked at several restaurants in Elizabethton.
She attended the Church of the Living Savior.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Charles Andes; two sisters, Flora Slagle and Juanita Carroll, and two great grandchildren, Morley Skeens and Scotty Perry.
Survivors include her husband, Larry M. Taunton; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Eastes, Lafayette, La., and Sonja Perkins, Johnson City; four sons, Roy, Clarence, Jerry and Terry Perry, all of Elizabethton; two step-daughters, Laurale Hopkins, Salem, Ore., and April Ball, Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mable Andes Snavely died Saturday, October 8, 2022 surrounded by family. Mamaw was one-of-a-kind. She loved fiercely, worked hard, and was honest to a fault. She loved her church family and faithfully attended Borderview Christian Church. For Mamaw, each day began with her Jesus Calling devotional and time spent with God in the Bible. Death did not rob her from us. Indeed, at 98 years old, she has simply graduated to her real home to her true spouse Jesus Christ, who had a place ready-and-waiting for her in heaven.

Mamaw loved to play any kind of game, and would rub-it-in when she won. She loved traveling and could have a bag packed to “hit the road” in minutes. Mamaw knew that all the good we experience in life points to the perfection she now experiences with her Savior. Her life was a testament that true blessings are not material.

Mamaw was rich in that God had graciously blessed her with a wonderful and extensive family. The mother of three girls, Mamaw leaves behind Joyce and Phil Grindstaff, Susie McLeod, and June and John Gouge. Grandchildren include Wendy and Jeff Salyers; Jennifer and David Martin; Julie and Jon Wilcox; Scott and Marla McLeod; Kym and David Townsend; Tim and Carla McLeod; Heather and Levon Mouradian; and Andrew and Lindsey Gouge. Great-grandchildren include Ellie and Cade Salyers, David and Shelly Martin, Hank Wilcox, Banner and McKenzie McLeod, Skye McLeod, Emily McLeod and Landon Falconer, Dalita, Siamanto, Lilit, and Leona Mouradian, and Cole and Norah Gouge. Her great-great-grandchildren are Lily, Jolie, and Judah Martin. Mable also leaves behind one sister-in-law, Blanche Nicholson and several nieces and nephews. Mable is preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Snavely (Jim), great-grandson Adam Martin, two brothers, four sisters, and her parents, Joseph Andes and Sarah Elizabeth Potter Andes, and her dear friend, Earl Ellis.

A service to celebrate the life of Mable Andes Snavely will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Scott Fisher and Pastor Dan Foster officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Borderview Christian Church Quartet. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Reverend Andrew Gouge and Reverend Dave Martin officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Snavely’s grandsons: Scott McLeod, Tim McLeod, Andrew Gouge, David Martin, Dave Martin and David Townsend. Banner McLeod will serve as honorary pallbearer.

William "Bud" Madison Andes, 80, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at his residence.
He was the son of the late William Worley and Mattie Stout Andes and the grandson of the late Charles and Cecila Jane Trivitte Andes. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Sheryl Andes; one daughter, Pam Andes; and his brother, Jim Andes.
Mr. Andes was born by a mid-wife and had a twin that passed at birth. He was raised in the Poga/Hampton area. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1955. He honorably served his country in the Army beginning in 1956 and was stationed in Germany.
Mr. Andes was a butcher most of his life and owned several meat stores during his career. He loved fishing and working on anything that had a motor. He also loved spending time with his dog Fidget and cat Bonnie.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Angie Andes Oliver and boyfriend, Terry Cox, Tracy Andes Bishop and husband Jim, Randy Andes, Micaline Andes, Vickie Andes Browning and husband Dale, and Billy Andes. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zack Quade, Scotty Oliver, Faith Bishop and several more. Mr. Andes left behind brothers and sisters, Larry Andes and wife Becky, Linda Stevens and husband Dennis, Buster Andes and wife Wanda, and Roger Andes and wife Debbie. Special friends left to cherish his memories are Jennifer Peterson and Ed "Eddie Rabbit" Gentry and his wife Linda. The family would like to thank everyone for listening, understanding, caring and always being there for our Dad.
Services "To sit and tell some tales" (something our Father loved to do), will be held at The American Legion in Elizabethton, Tenn., at 6 p.m. Monday, November 6. The address for the American Legion is 111 S. Watauga Ave. Interment will be Tuesday, November 7, in the Stout Cemetery.

David Gene Andes, 61, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Charles and Ida Ellis Andes.
David was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended ETSU. He was employed at Snap-on Tools. David was a member and Leading Knight of the Elizabethton Elks Lodge #1847. He attended Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church. His hobbies were fishing and golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark and Eddie Andes, and a sister, Barbara Hunter.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry McGowan Napier; three step-children, Jeremy Napier, Mark (Jessica) Napier and Jessica (Joseph) Carey; 11 grandchildren; his best friend, golfing and fishing buddy, Clarence Perry; and a nephew, Charles Andes.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, March 27, in the Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Fleanor officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, will be Jeremy Napier, Joseph Carey, Mark Napier, Kevin Lipford, Clarence Perry and Michael Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Elizabethton Elks Lodge #1847 and employees of Snap-on Tools. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, the staff of Indian Path Cancer Center, the staff of Holston Valley Cancer Center and members of the Elizabethton Elks Lodge.

Margery Gladys (Stout) Church of Johnson City, Tenn., formerly of the Poga Community of Butler, Tenn., passed away peacefully at Ivy Hall Nursing Home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, to spend her Valentine’s Day with her beloved husband, Allen, at the age of 93. Margie was born in the Elk Mills Community to the late William Haskell and Lona Andes Stout. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Allen Chester Church; two brothers, William Haskell Stout Jr. and Ray Stout; and five sisters, Dorothy Stout, Dee Tucker, Joy Pennington, Jean Miller and Sandra Miller. Margery loved children and teaching them was a natural born talent for her. She had worked at Elk Mills School for three years as a cook and retired from Little Milligan School where she worked as a teacher’s aide for 17 years. Many beautiful relationships with the teachers and children were forged at those schools and those student’s cherished memories will always include Margery. She was a member of Beech Mountain Baptist Church and loved her church family and most of all being a servant of the Lord. Margery had been a farmer her entire life and loved gardening in her flowers and vegetables and reading. She was a beautiful, kind and meek soul and will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her because her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Those left to cherish her legacy include her son, Michael Church of Johnson City; her daughter, Sherry Church Lewis of Wilmington, N.C.; her grandchildren, Stephanie Lewis, Miranda (Shawn) Wulf, India Lewis and Chase Lewis; one great-granddaughter, Aria Wulf; two great-grandsons, Tristan and Cameron; and a brother, Donnie Stout. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A celebration of Margery’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, February 17, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Mr. Donnie Cable, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Margery will be laid to rest with her husband in the Mountain Home National Cemetery at a later time. Evan Plummer and Gary Guy will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Dorothy “Dot” Marie Stout, 89, formerly of the Poga Community in Butler, Tenn., passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021, at Good Samaritan Assisted Living in Kissimmee, Fla. She was a daughter of the late William Haskell and Lona Marie Andes Stout and was born in Carter County on April 8, 1931. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Delores “Janet” Tucker, Jean Miller, Joy Pennington and Sandra Miller, and two brothers, Ray Haskell Stout and William Haskell Stout Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include one brother, Don Stout of Orlando, Fla., and one sister, Margie G. Stout Church of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Dorothy “Dot” Marie Stout will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at the Stout Hill Church of Christ in Poga with Mr. Donnie Cable, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m., prior to the funeral. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral at the Haskell Stout Family Cemetery (located at 548 Poga Road, Butler, Tenn.). Danny Ray Cable, age 70, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from his residence. Danny was born in Carter County to the late Millard William Cable and Mary Bell Stout Cable. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Elwood Von Cable.

Danny had worked as a butcher for 17 years at Smithdeals and had also worked at Snap-On-Tools of Elizabethton for over 16 years. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a man of God and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed camping, hiking, being outdoors, farming and helping those in need.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Barbara Miller Cable, of the home; his daughter, Annette Broadbridge and husband Aidan, of Sweden; his son, Jackie Ray Cable, of Elizabethton; his grandchildren, Brett Allen Cable, of Elizabethton and Levi Aidan Broadbridge, of Sweden; eight brothers, Darrell Cable and wife Judith, of Marion, NC, Donnie Cable and wife Roberta, of Butler, Loyd Cable and wife Regina, of Hickory, NC, Dale Cable and wife Karen, of Hampton, Charles Cable and wife Janice, of Hampton, Ellis Cable and wife Belle, of Butler, Gary Cable and wife Rose, of Elizabethton and Jerry Cable and wife Sharon, of Butler; two sisters, Delores Hicks and husband Jerry, of Butler and Susie Carter and husband Bruce, of Elizabethton. Jesse Clinton Cable, age 75 of Butler, TN, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at his home. Jesse was born on November 4, 1944 to the late Coy Cable and Mae Stout Cable in Carter County, TN. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Cable and wife Sharon, Clinton Cable, David Cable all of who were involved in a fatal car accident in 1987. He was also preceded in death by his daughter in law, Kathy Cable and granddaughter, Renee Shore.

Jesse was a veteran of the United States Army. He was also in the restaurant business for many years running the Elk Mills Restaurant. He had a passion for gardening and especially raising beans. Through his life, Jesse made many friends and will be dearly missed by all. He was member of the Stout Hill Church of Christ.

Jesse is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Potter Cable; daughter, Janet Dugger and husband Brad of Hampton, TN; son, Jeffrey Cable of Hartselle, AL; sister, Cathy Richards of Butler, TN; brother, Kenneth Cable and wife Cindy of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Audra Gill, Austin Clawson, Jonathan Shore; great grandchildren, Harley Mann, Jessie Myers, Loyd Meyers III, Jared Miller, Jessie Miller, and Jonathan Miller.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Ministers Donnie Cable and Ray Greene officiating. The graveside service and burial will immediately follow the funeral at Sugar Grove Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin Clawson, Brad Dugger, Jerry Gill, Jerad Miller, Jonathan Shore, and Jonathan Miller. Gregory Lynn Stout, 55, of the Poga Community of Butler, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at his residence. Gregory was born June 9, 1963 in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Mattison Elwood Stout and Gladys Estep Stout. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Stout.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karen Stout, of Michigan; his daughter, Savannah Stout; a brother, Michael Stout, of Michigan; two sisters, Sharon Stout and Tammie Stout, both of Butler, Tenn.; and five stepchildren.
