    Survivors include seven sons, Lonnie and Herb Ward, both of Mountain City, Jesse, Frank, and Grover Ward, all of Butler, Troy Ward, Pontiac, Michigan, and Bob Ward, Hickory, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Sue Fowler, Flint, Michigan, and Mrs. Barbara Stout, Butler; one brother, Ed Ward, Sugar Grove, N.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Beulah Vines and Mrs. Hettie Love, both of Sugar Grove, Mrs. Berdie Gryder, Rockingham, N.C. and Mrs. Jennie Tester, Florida; 31 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.

    Jesse Willard Ward, 84, of Butler, Tenn., passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center.
    He was born on May 3, 1927 to the late Moses Parks and Della Ward. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Fowler; seven brothers, Frank, Bob, Grover, Ben, Troy, Lonnie and Homer Ward; and a grandchild, Oliver Ryan Ward.
    Jesse loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening and taking walks. He also enjoyed swinging on his porch swing.
    Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy Louise Lockner Ward; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte Marie and Kenith Ryan of Johnson City, Tenn.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Lowell Ward of Kingsport, Tenn., and Michael Lynn and Darcy Ward of Mount Ulla, N.C.; a sister, Barbara Stout and husband Alan of Poga, Tenn.; a brother, Herb Ward of Mountain City, Tenn.; grandchildren, Anton Corinthian Hodge and Adrian Rayjean Ward; and several nieces and nephews.
    The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 16, at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Richard Jones officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Sugar Grove, N.C.

    Jimmy Dean Ward, age 60, of Lenoir went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at his residence. He was born January 26, 1961 in Mountain City, Tennessee to the late James Willard Ward and Margaret Arnold. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery Potter.

    Jimmy was a loving and caring family man who lived for his children. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Liberty Baptist Church. Jimmy had a passion for video games and all things Star Trek. He shared this passion with his lifelong best friend, Roger Mitchell of Lenoir. They have shared 38 years of ups and downs and were the true definition of a “ride or die” friend.

    Survivors include his three children, Erin Ward of Hickory, Enya Ward and Jimmy “Dean” Ward, both of Lenoir; step-mother, Jackie Ward of Gamewell; two brothers, Paul “David” Ward and Charles Hamby, both of Lenoir; four sisters, Debbie Dickens and husband Norman, Tammy Griffin and husband Eddie, all of Tennessee, Jeanna Warhurst and husband Troy, and Wendy Whitt, all of Lenoir; and numerous nieces and nephews.
