Ira Luther Bowers, 86, Danner Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Bowers was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Monroe and Ada Robinson Bowers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eula Novella Crumley Bowers, in 1983, and four grandchildren, Linda Buckles Brown, Ricky Buckles, Shirley Bowers and Barbara Bowers.
Mr. Bowers was retired from the Cafeteria Department of North American Rayon Corporation. He was the Oldest Member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.

BOWERS -- Funeral services for Ira Luther Bowers, 86, Danner Road, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eric Wright and
the Rev. James Hawk officiating. Music will be provided by the Hunter Memorial Baptist Church Choir, Patsy Childress, soloist, and Dean Palmer, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, in the Buckles Cemetery.

Selma Bowers Conley passed away in Christ on Friday, May 5, 2017. Service: A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4409 Pleasant Ridge in Arlington, Texas. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Gayle Tucker Building Fund, Arlington SDA Church by calling 817-483-4837.. Selma was born and lived in Elizabethton, Tenn., for 16 years. She moved to Dallas, Texas, married Louis H. Evans in 1948. Together, they had six children. She married Howard S. Conley in 1979. Selma was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, Nana, Grand-Nana, and good friend to countless people. She was a charter member of the Arlington SDA Church, helping to build the congregation from a 35-member church to one that is now over 2,300 members strong. After faithfully serving as the church secretary/treasurer for over 20 years, she retired in order to enjoy family and friends. She resided in Keene, Texas, the last two years of her life, where she was loved and cared for by many wonderful staff members of Chisholm Trail Estates. Selma was preceded in death by mother, Mary Elizabeth Williams; father, Emeril Bowers; brother, Eric Bowers; husband, Howard Conley; and grandson, Jonathan W Evans Jr. Survivors: She is survived by siblings: Joyce Bowers, James Bowers, Keith Bowers and Sandra Bowers Cederborg, She leaves behind her children: David H. Evans and wife, Jill, Donald L. Evans, Diane Trujillo and husband, Rudy, Mark A. Evans, Paul S. Evans and wife, Cindy, Jonathan W. Evans Sr. and wife, Terri. She was "Nana" to Rudy Jr., Melissa, Michael, Jonathan Jr., Na'Cole, James, Christopher, Chelsey, Justin, Brian, Josh, Alexis, and Emily, and their spouses. She was "Grand-Nana" to Lorelei, Blakely, Nathan, David, Makana, Eiligh, Duncan, Kane, Joe, Ryker, and Anela to arrive in July. She loved her many nieces and nephews as well.

Larry W. Bowers, 73, of Kodak, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was born September 21, 1943, in Elizabethton, Tenn.
Larry was very active in the community. He served honorably in the United States Air Force. He was General Manager of Buddy's BBQ for over 20 years.
Larry loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Worley and Victoria Bowers, and a sister, Betty Shouse, and her husband, Joe Shouse.
Larry is survived by his children, Scott Bowers and wife, Monica, Andy Bowers, Joey Bowers and wife, April, and Matthew Bowers; and grandchildren, Taylor, Bryson, Taylor, Gracie, Carter, Trista, Trinity, Joey and Scott.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 1, with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville, Tenn. Family and friends will meet for the graveside service and interment at 1 p.m. Sunday at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Elizabethton, Tenn.

Neil Thomas Ledford, age 28, of Bristol, Virginia, went home to meet his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 5th, 2022. Neil was born in Johnson City, Tennessee to Carolyn (Mann) Ledford Good of Elizabethton, Tennessee and the late Dennis Edward Ledford Jr. Tennessee. In addition to his father, Neil is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jimmie Dale Mann, and his step grandfather, James Simpson.

Neil was a faithful friend, with a kind, loving spirit and a very giving heart. He was good natured, funny, and loved his family very much, always making sure that they were taken care of and had what they needed.

From a young age, Neil displayed a wonderful work ethic and an interest in electronics, spending one summer working with NASA’s INSPIRE Nanotechnology Research program in San Juan, Puerto Rico through the STEM program at Oklahoma State University. After high school, Neil went on to work with the Avionics Department at Bell Helicopter, earning a five year achievement medal for his exceptional work and dedication.

Neil loved photography and had a lifelong passion for fast cars, participating in local cars shows as an active member of Tri-Cities Cars and Coffee Club After Dark with his own Dodge Charger. He was also a member of Civil Air Patrol, graduating as a Cadet Major, and was a member of Celebration Church. In his spare time, Neil also enjoyed geology and hiking.

Those left to remember and cherish Neil’s memory include his mother, Carolyn Ledford Good and her husband Sean Good, of Elizabethton; his sister, Allison Ledford Davies and her husband Harry Davies, of Kingsport; his brother, Jared Ledford, of Jonesborough; his grandparents, Janette Mann, of Elizabethton, Jana Simpson, of Johnson City, and Dennis Ledford Sr. and his wife, Donna Graybeal Ledford, of Gray; his uncle, Dale Ledford, of Johnson City; and his aunts, Teresa Treadway, Lisa Germaine, and her husband Dan Germaine, all of Elizabethton; and Jennifer Ledford France and her husband Dean, of Jonesborough. Several other extended family members also survive.

A service to honor and celebrate Neil’s life and memory will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton, Tennessee with Pastor Robert Russell of Celebration Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.

The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Josh Banks of Shepherd’s Rock Bible Church officiating. Active pallbearers will be Harry Davies, Chris Birchfield, Tim Compton, Caleb Meade, Dale Ledford, and Kurt Germaine. Neil’s friends and coworkers from Bell Helicopter will serve as honorary pallbearers.
