    C. F. Heaton, 56, died Friday afternoon at 2:30 at his home in Carden's Bluff.
    Funeral services were conducted from the home yesterday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Huston Blevins officiating. Interment was in Shouns cemetery in Doe Valley.
    Mr. Heaton is survived by his widow; six children: Frank, Ray, Clay, Ruth and Jeweldean Heaton; four children by his first wife, Mrs. James Jordan, and Miss Golda Heaton of Elizabethton, Mrs. Charles Bourne of Bristol, Mrs. Clay Edmondson of Johnson City; two brothers, John Heaton and Thomas Heaton of West Virginia; four sisters, Mrs. W. H. Cregg of Johnson City, Mrs. W. D. Brookshire of Doeville, Mrs. Neva Lesco of Glade Springs, Va., and Mrs. Roy Garland of Virginia.

    Pvt. Howard R. Heaton, 21, son of Mrs. Verna Heaton of near Butler, was fatally injured in a truck accident Saturday night at Camp Beale, Calif. He died Sunday morning.
    He is survived by his mother; three brothers, Pvt. Columbus Frank Heaton, with the AEF in North Africa, Clay and Dean Heaton, both of Butler; two sisters, Mary Ruth and Jewel, both of Butler; four half-sisters, Mrs. Maude Bourne of Bristol, Mrs. Anna Mae Jordan of Elizabethton, Mrs. Beulah Edmondson, Johnson City, and Mrs. Goldier Edens, Gap Creek; and his grandfather, W. B. Lewis, Creston, N. C.

    Funeral services for Pvt. Howard R. Heaton, who was killed in an automobile accident at Camp Beale, California, July 1, will be held at the Fish Springs Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Charles Souder and the Rev. George Westmoreland in charge.
    Funeral will be in the Veteran's Cemetery at Johnson City at three o'clock under the direction of the Tetrick Funeral Home.

    Mary Ruth Heaton Maupin, 82, of Johnson City, went home to meet her savior on Monday, May 16, 2011, after a short stay at the Johnson City Medical Center.

    Ruth was born on May 5, 1929, in Bristol, TN, to the late CF Heaton and Verna Lewis Heaton. Mary Ruth was the loving wife of 53 years to the late, Robert Hugh Maupin. Also preceding her were 6 brothers, Glen, Fred, Ray, Frank, Clay and Dean Heaton; and 1 sister, Jewel Maupin.

    Mrs. Maupin was a member of the Oakland Avenue Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School for many years.

    Mrs. Maupin raised her family in Johnson City and continued to live there until her death. She was a hard worker, retiring after 33 years from Thomas Industries, but also had a passion and love for flowers and gardening in her free time.

    Ruth had a smile that would melt your heart and a fun loving personality that would keep you rolling with laughter, she will be missed.

    Mary Ruth was the ever loving mother to her daughter and son in law, Kay and Larry Cash, Johnson City; daughter and son in law, Joan and Richard McIntosh, Anderson County, TN; son and daughter in law, Steve and Veronica Maupin, Johnson City; and daughter and son in law, Peggy and Lee Freeman, Boones Creek; her adoring grandchildren, Melissa McIntosh Smith, Robert McIntosh, Mickey Freeman, Tina McIntosh, Melanie Casey, Jennifer Hyder, April Dykes, Beverly Maupin, Chad Maupin, Tasha Cash and Laura Cash; 17 great grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be conducted from the Morris-Baker South Chapel at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Pastor Ron Adams will officiate.

    Burial services will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Robert McIntosh, Mickey Freeman, Chad Maupin, Scott Dykes, Alex Smith and Hunter McIntosh. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard McIntosh, Larry Cash and Lee Freeman. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. Thursday for the cemetery.

    MOUNTAIN CITY – Mr. Billy Carroll Brookshire, better known as "Bill", age 85 of Mountain City, passed away Sunday morning, November 11, 2018 at his home. Mr. Brookshire was born in Mountain City, TN on June 7, 1933 to the late Samuel Stacy and Bonnie Mae Carver Brookshire. He was one of the original founders of Johnson County Bank in 1975 and he became president in 1983, and he had served on the JCB Board of Directors consistently through the years. Mr. Brookshire is survived by his two loving daughters, Teresa Sillstrop and husband, Ted, of Greer, SC and Bonnie Reece and husband, Chris, of Mountain City, TN; his sister, Nancy Garrick, of Mountain City, TN; his two brothers, Richard Brookshire and wife Lillian, of Boone, NC, and Jack Brookshire and wife, Louise, of Maryland; several nieces and nephews and his extended family, the employees of Johnson County Bank and their spouses, and many special friends. He also liked spending time with his two step grandchildren, Jack Dedrick and Anna Marie Dedrick, both of Wilmington, NC.

    Bill will be fondly remembered by his friends and family as deeply devoted to his daughters and their deceased mother Myrtle Duncan Brookshire. Since he lost his father in his teens, as the eldest son, Bill became the patriarch on whom his mother and siblings could rely for help and support. Some of the community projects Bill enjoyed supporting included the 4-H Poultry Project, Little League Baseball teams, Heritage Hall, The JC Arts Center, and The JC Senior Heating Assistance.

    Bill Brookshire was the quintessential self-made man who achieved success in life with passion, courage, and dedication. Because of his energy and ingenuity, he was able to live well, but he also lived good. He cared about the people of our community and often reached out to those in need. His willingness to step out at great risk in order to grow a new bank for our community showed strength and courage. This bold move contributed to the growth of Johnson County on many levels.

    Because of his accomplishments and contributions to our county, Bill Brookshire's legacy will live on for generations. And as Shakespeare wrote: His life was gentle, and the elements mixed so well in him that Nature might stand up and say to all the world, This was a man.

    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 7:00pm at Dewey Christian Church, 3548 Hwy 67W, with Preacher C.D. "Bud" Gentry and Preacher Frank Ransom officiating. A private burial will be held at Brookshire Cemetery with Preacher Bill Worley officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, November 14, 2018; three hours prior to the funeral service.     On December 29th God received a special angel into Heaven. Dennis Jack Brookshire, 84 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife of 54 years and his children. Born February 2, 1935 in Doeville, TN, he was the son of the late Samuel and Bonnie Carver Brookshire.

    Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Rising Sun American Legion Post No. 194 and was formerly employed as a truck driver by A1 Sales and Service of Havre de Grace, MD.

    Jack is survived by his wife, Louise Brookshire of Port Deposit, MD; daughter, Vicki Lynn Brookshire; son, Scott Lee Brookshire; two grandchildren, Jocelynn Duvall and Levi Brookshire; brother, Richard Brookshire; sister, Nancy Garrick; and many special friends.

    Jack was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Brookshire; mother, Bonnie Carver Brookshire; and brother, Billy Carroll Brookshire.

    The family of Nancy Brookshire Garrick are saddened to announce the passing of their dear Aunt, Sister, Stepmother and Grandmother on October 22, 2021. Nancy was born in Johnson County on April 10, 1938 to the late Samuel Stacy Brookshire and Bonnie Mae Carver Brookshire. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wallace I. Garrick; brothers, Billy C. Brookshire and Dennis Jack Brookshire; sister, Janet Sue Brookshire and sister-in-law, Myrtle D. Brookshire.

    Nancy had a long and eventful life that included working for the FBI for a few years after graduating from JCHS, then traveling to Miami on a bus at age nineteen to seek her fortune. There she was employed as Office Receptionist for Mershon, Sawyer, Johnston, Dunwoody and Cole Attorneys at Law for forty years.

    Upon retiring in 1997, she and husband Wally moved to the mountains where they built their lovely home, and she became both neighbor and caretaker for Granny Bonnie her mother. It was here she would become known not only for her signature hats and sundresses, but also as a master gardener evidenced by the beautiful flowers, trees and shrubs so lovingly placed and attended on her Circle Drive lawn.

    During the last twenty plus years of her life, she contributed greatly to her beloved community by sharing her many talents with her friends and neighbors. As a member of the Johnson County Garden Club, she played a vital role in implementing the annual garden tours which became popular as an inspirational and educational experience for local gardeners, young and experienced. The Sunflower Festival was one of her inspirations as well. She also served on the Downtown Beautification Committee, a hard-working group who inspired the lamppost and bridge decorations, along with several other projects over the years. As a lover of the holidays, she worked diligently to organize the Christmas Tree lighting events on the Courthouse lawn for several years. As a member of the JC Arts Council, she organized the first Juried Art Show in Johnson County and as its President she became instrumental in the creation of the JC Center for the Arts and with the establishment of the Musical Heritage Mural project, along with a successful Garden Walk fund raiser. The artistic community, along with Johnson County at large, were greatly enhanced by her generosity, her dedication, her energy and her talent.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her brother, Richard Brookshire, Sr. and wife Lillian; nieces and nephews Teresa Brookshire Sillstrop and husband Ted, Bonnie Brookshire Reece and husband Chris, Ricky Brookshire and wife Ginny, Jennifer Brookshire, Christie Brookshire Moll and husband Floris, Holly Brookshire, Chantelle Moll, Haleigh Moll, Camden Brookshire, Parker Moll; cousins, Carolyn Wolfe, Haylee Wolfe; stepdaughters, Alice Garrick Lichtenstein, Kathryn A. Garrick; granddaughters, Melissa Lichtenstein Lance and husband Lee, Meredith Lichtenstein Cone and husband Matt, Brittany Garrick, and great grandson Andre Asher Lance. Also her beloved cat Reggie.

    JOHNSON CITY - Earl Randall Edmondson Sr., 81, Johnson City, entered into rest Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his residence.

    Mr. Edmondson was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County.

    He was a son of the late Clay E. Edmondson and Beulah Heaton Edmondson and was also preceded in death by a son, Earl Randall Edmondson Jr., two sisters and five brothers.

    Mr. Edmondson was retired from ETSU after 28 years of service

    He was a member of Arcana Masonic Lodge # 489, Limestone, TN.

    Mr. Edmondson enjoyed watching western movies and was a very talented wood worker.

    He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 22 years, Sarah J. Butler Edmondson; daughters, Teresa Edmondson, Robin D. Hill, Holly R. Absher and her husband, Larry; son, Christopher Story; sister, Carolyn Baird; granddaughter, Olivia Absher; grandsons, Jacob Absher, Teddy Presnell, Willis Freeman, Grant Freeman and J.R. Presnell; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    The family will greet guests and share memories from 6-8 pm Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 8 pm with Reverend Bobby Miller officiating. Music will be provided by the Dry Creek Singers. Pallbearers will be Christopher Story, Larry Absher, Jacob Absher, Scott Hill, Artie Grindstaff and Martin Butler. Masonic graveside committal services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Monte Vista Memorial Park.

    Robin Diana Edmondson Hill, 59, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

    She was born on September 21, 1958 in Johnson City to the late Earl and Lena Jones Edmondson. Robin enjoyed singing and playing her guitar, riding her motorcycle and target shooting. Her happiest times were spent performing for all of her fans and friends, riding and shooting in the woods and enjoying time with her grandchildren. Robin touched the heart of everyone she met with her wonderful personality and her many musical and vocal talents. She will be missed by many special friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Randall Edmondson; three half-brothers, Ronnie, Curtis and Lew Western.

    She leaves behind her loving husband, Scotty Hill; two sons, Willis Freeman of Newport and Grant Freeman of Jonesborough; a sister, Teresa Edmondson of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Nathan and Addison Freeman; several nieces, nephews and special friend, Penny Coffey.
