THOMAS S. DELOATCH WILL

In the name of God Amen.

      I Thomas S. Deloatch of the county of Northampton and State of North Carolina being weak in body, but sound mind and disposing memory, do this the Eight day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Nine make ordain and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit:

      First. I give and bequeath unto my beloved Grand Children (VIZ. Hirman, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Daniel, Esthin and Sarah Long) the following Negro Slaves (Viz) Sarah's Eight Children (Viz), Necrus Austina, Jim, George, Neveam, Peter, John and Ginney; and Versus' child Caroline and Amelia's child Cooner, and their increases to be equally divided among my aforesaid Grand Children, to them, their heirs and assigns forever.

      Secondly. I loan unto my dearly beloved Daughter Elizabeth M. Edwards the following negroe slaves (Viz) Matilda and her children (Viz) Celia, Esther, William, Little Dred and Tom, and Gilla. And her child and their increases to her during her natural life, and at her death I give and bequeath the Negro slaves above named which I have loaned to my Daughter Elizabeth, to be equally divided among all her children, which she has now and may hereafter have by her husband John G. Edwards, to them their heirs and assigns forever.

      Thirdly. I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved son John T. Deloatch, after his first paying all my just debts, all the balance of my property of every description (Viz) the following tracts of land one called the Dewrey Edwards tract whereon my son John T. DeLoatch now resides, containing about two hundred and fifty Acres; also a second tract called the Herring tract, containing about two hundred and fifty Acres; also a third tract called the Williams tract containing about three hundred Acres, also a fourth tract called the Crops tract, containing about Seven hundred and thirty Acres; also the tract of Land whereon I now live containing about two thousand acres, together with the following Negro slaves (Viz) Dick, Julia and her children (Viz) Kinchen, Mason, Drew, Emma, Margaret, Isaac and Eda, and Harriet and her child Mary, and Fanny and her child, not named, Joe and Wagute, Jordan, Eliza and her children (Viz) Grcin Norvell, Louisa, Henry, Junius, Sampson, George, Everline and Mary, and her children Amanda, Rachel, Jane and Margaret and Louisa child Ann; Linda and her child Tom; Martha; Sandy; Ishum; Chaua; and her child Milla, Penny, Fred, Caroline and her three children (Viz) Elisa F. Connir & Sarah, Sam, Peter, Green, Ella and her two children Eda and Lucretia; and Jack and Jane and their issues in addition to the Negro slaves I have heretofore given my son John T. Deloatch a Deed of Gift for and their increases and all my stock of every description consisting of horses, mules, hogs, cattle, sheep, farming utensils, household and kitchen furniture. Credits H. H. to him his heirs and assigns forever.

      Fourthly and lastly. I hereby constitute and appoint my son John T. Deloatch Executor to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all others heretofore made by me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.

      Signed, sealed, published and declared by the testator to be his last will and testament, we witnessing the same in his presence, in the presence of each other and at his request.

Northampton County                        )      County Court December Term 1860.

      This last will and testament of Thomas S. Deloatch was proved in open Court by the two subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be registered. At the same time John T. Deloatch the Executor named therein appeared in open Court and was duly qualified as Executor according to law.
