DAWSEY DELOATCH WILL
I, Dawsey Deloatch of the County of Northampton and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say:
First- I give and bequeath unto my brother Jesse Deloatch one negro man named Allen, to him and his heirs forever.
Second- I loan unto my brother William E. Deloatch the balance of my slaves and all my property of every description, (after the payment of my just debts) during his natural life, and should he die leaving a lawful heir or heirs, begotten after holy wedlock, then to said heir or heirs I give the above mentioned slaves and other property to them and their heirs in fee simple forever, but in the event of the death of my said brother William E. Deloatch without leaving any lawful heir or heirs begotten in holy wedlock, then I give the above mentioned slaves and other property loaned to him, unto the lawful children of my brother Jesse Deloatch to them and their heirs in fee simple forever.
And lastly- I do hereby appoint my brother Jesse Deloatch my lawful executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof- hereby revoking and declaring, utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof I the said Dawsey Deloatch do hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this the 22nd day of June A.D. 1855.
Signed, sealed and declared
by the said Dawsey Deloatch
