Mrs. Neil Wiese is a published genealogist and a historian of the DeLoach family. She traces her DeLoach lineage through the Samuel DeLoach family of Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Her ancestors left NC, settled for a while in Tennessee, then moved on to Mississippi. A sizeable DeLoach clan developed in Mississippi, with its roots it Wilkinson and Yazoo Counties.
Wilkinson County is the home of the Woodville Republican. Neil's ancestry includes the Scotts and the Wilsons, who also have ancestral roots in Wilkinson County. She has spent many hours digging through old copies of the newspaper and reading through past editions on microfilm. She used this work to publish "The Woodville Republican: Mississippi's Oldest Existing Newspaper, Volumes I and II". Following are excerpts from those books that pertain to the DeLoach family.
