- Mildred C. Carriger, 82, of Cornerstone Village North, Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital
following a lengthy illness. She was a daughter of the late William Emmert Taylor and Flara Smith Taylor and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Carriger; a brother, William W. Taylor, Sr.; six sisters, Helen L. Taylor, Evelyn L. Taylor, Pauline Edwards, Betty Roten, all of whom were from Elizabethton; Edna Archer, Johnson City and Mary Bernholt, Versailles, OH.
She was a faithful member of University Parkway Baptist Church where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. In addition to her love for her church and its activities, she enjoyed the many events at Cornerstone Village and loved her time there.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Susan Carriger, Johnson City; a sister, Margaret Carver, Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Vergie Taylor, Elizabethton. She will also be missed by her many friends and especially by her nieces and nephews; all of whom loved her dearly and cherished her sweet smile. Her faith, words of witness to her Lord and her wisdom will always be remembered by all her family.
A service to honor the life of Mildred Carriger will be conducted on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 7:00 PM in the University Parkway Baptist Church, 219 University Parkway, Johnson City, TN, with Dr. Michael Oaks and Rev. Scott Thompson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kathy Thompson.
