- He was the son of the late Henry "Abe" and Katie Morrell Bowers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ada Bowers; four sisters, Mary Whitaker, Gladys Rawn, Kathleen Monday and Virginia Bowers; and two brothers, Grover and Herman Clay.
Mr. Bowers had lived a number of years in Elizabethton and had lived in Johnson City for the past year. He operated the Elizabethton Business College for a number of years. He was a member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 and the American Legion Post #49. He was a member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton and the Men's Class.
Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2003 at Memorial Funeral Chapel.
Graveside services and interment were at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
