- Rebecca was the daughter of James McClanahan and Mary Ann "Polly" Hubbard.
Her father died in the Civil War in Rutherford County, TN and her mother was left with the sole care of their children. Being poor, she was overwhelmed with the burden of such a task.
In the 1870 census, Rebecca and her sister Mary Elizabeth are living with their guardian, Alexander McClanahan.
She married William Benjamin Rogers on 23 Jul 1871 in Blount County, Tennessee. Performed by: W.W. Murrain, Justice of the Peace. James H. Tipton, Bondsman.
Ten children would be born to this union:
John Wright, Margaret Jane, James Landon, Martha Abigail, Andrew Joseph, Judson Bradford, Martin Luther, William Albert, Claude Anderson and Leonard Mayford Rogers.
In 1920, Rebecca's sister, Mary Elizabeth McClanahan, would move into the home and remain until Rebecca's death.
She was 79-years of age.
