- Nan McInturff Briggs, 88 of Erwin TN, took her flight to be with Jesus on Friday, September 28, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. Nan was born on March 12, 1924, in Unicoi County, a daughter of the late Tobias Miller and Claty Myrtle McInturff. She was a member of Unicoi Baptist Church, and she also volunteered for the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center for 19 years. She loved her family, and enjoyed cooking for her family, playing cards and flowers were her passion.
In Addition to her parents, Nan is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Walter Briggs, Sister, Venia Bell Hensley, Brothers Thomas Samuel McInturff and Marsh Miller.
She is survived by: Daughters: Aloma Cole of Erwin; Judy Gasaway of Erwin; Tracy Langston and her husband Andrew of Wilmington, NC; Son: Terry McInturff of Erwin; Sister: Esther Ruth Osburn; Special Grandchildren: Wendy Gasaway Lingerfelt and Terry Joshua McInturff; Special Great Grandchildren: Caitlyn Alexandra Wilson and Zoey Tatianna McInturff; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Valley Funeral Home with Reverend Earl Ragland officiating. Vocal selections will be provided by Queenie Wheeler. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until service time at Valley Funeral Home. The committal service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Johnson City. Serving as pallbearers are Richard Bailey, Josh McInturff, David Gasaway, Dave Stallsworth, Rich Arrowood, Randy Arrowood, and Mark Lingerfelt. Honorary pallbearers will be Hardy Miller, Ron Meredith, Ernest Arrowood, Bo Miller, and Charlie Miller.
