- Jesse Willard Ward, 84, of Butler, Tenn., passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born on May 3, 1927 to the late Moses Parks and Della Ward. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Fowler; seven brothers, Frank, Bob, Grover, Ben, Troy, Lonnie and Homer Ward; and a grandchild, Oliver Ryan Ward.
Jesse loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed gardening and taking walks. He also enjoyed swinging on his porch swing.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy Louise Lockner Ward; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte Marie and Kenith Ryan of Johnson City, Tenn.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Lowell Ward of Kingsport, Tenn., and Michael Lynn and Darcy Ward of Mount Ulla, N.C.; a sister, Barbara Stout and husband Alan of Poga, Tenn.; a brother, Herb Ward of Mountain City, Tenn.; grandchildren, Anton Corinthian Hodge and Adrian Rayjean Ward; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 16, at Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Richard Jones officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 17, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Sugar Grove, N.C.
