- Ralph Jenkins, age 73, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 21, 2017. He was born on May 25, 1943 in Johnson County, TN to the late George and Mary Ellen Taylor Jenkins. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, George D. Jenkins Jr. and by a brother-in-law, Herbert Sluder.
Ralph was an avid outdoorsman who truly loved the outdoors. He especially loved fishing, gardening and working in his yard. He retired from Hanes Brand Inc. in 2008. He was a member of Mountain City Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 32 years, Bessie Eastridge Jenkins; sons: Stewart, Kevin and Micah; step sons: Jerry Stanley, Steven Stanley and Tony Stanley; sisters: Betty Sluder of Winchester, VA and Edith Jenkins of Shady Valley, TN; brother, Edsel Jenkins and wife June of Bristol, TN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service for Ralph will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with Pastor Buddy Morefield officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and entombment will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Tony Stanley, Jerry Stanley, Steve Stanley, Justin Stanley, Derek Baker and Ron Shupe. Honorary pallbearer is Ken Lane.
