- Brenda K. Perry of Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2021, after a brief fight with cancer. She was born April 15, 1946 to Velma Clemons Hatley and Walter Brown Hatley in Carter County, Tenn. She graduated from Hampton High School and retired from Wal-Mart after 32 years of service. Brenda was a member of New Liberty FWB Church. She had a feisty spirit and loved her family and friends with all her heart.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Velma and Brown Hatley; her beloved husband, George L. Perry Sr.; her brother-in-law, Bob Tester; her cousin, Charlene Miller; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Perry; her brother-in-law, David Perry; two beloved sisters-in-law, Brenda Burleson and Joan Kyker; and a precious great-nephew, Ethan Burleson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Karen (Jack) Presnell and George (Joyce) Perry Jr.; her beloved granddaughter, Jordan Alexandra Hill; her sisters, Ethel (Floyd Campbell) Hatley and Faye (Bob) Tester; her “other” daughter, Candy Johnson, and her “other” son, Junior Bailey; her sister-in-law, Barbara (Keith) Benfield; brothers-in-law, Kenny Perry, Harry (Etta) Perry, Ed Kyker and Steve Burleson; two special great-nieces, Jazzy and Bailey; special great-nephew. JJ Burleson; and her Wal-Mart family, Janet Hill, Linda Jones, Sue Elliott, JoAnn Garland, Tracy Taylor, Claude Jones, Teresa Stoughton, Carolyn Stonecipher and Yvonne Steger.
Services for Brenda Perry will be Monday, December 13. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton. Her funeral service will follow at 6 p.m., officiated by Pastor Nick Colbaugh. Graveside services will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park on Tuesday, December 14, at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Tim Gouge. Pallbearers include Junior Bailey, Mickey Nidiffer, Bruce Gouge, Tim Gouge, Jeremy Burleson and Lester Julian. Honorary pallbearers include Eddie Kyker, Alan Kyker, Robert Norris, Kevin Perry, Bobby Kyker, Steven Carr, Bobby Ray Tester and Ronnie Gouge.
