- Betty Anna Mains, age 84, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on December 3, 1929 to the late Robert and Velmer Imogene Huggins Barker. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Mains Sr.; sisters: Eleanor Reece, Rebecca Rankins, Evelyn Pennington; brother, Robert Barker; grandson, Robert Shawn Boudle and great grandchildren: Alexis Mains and Hunter Mains.
Betty loved to collect frogs, bells and teacups. She loved spring and summer time when she could work in her garden and plant flowers. Betty especially loved the holidays spent with her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She also enjoyed displaying family pictures throughout her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Patsy A. Chappell; sons: William S. Mains Jr. and Robert J. Mains; grandchildren: Shane Mains, Shannon Clark, Stephanie Clark, Steven Chappell, Kristy Perry, Joseph Mains and Codi Pass; seven great-granddaughters and six great grandsons; special friend, Jackson ‘Hal’ Crowe and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Gambill and Brother Greg Thompson officiating. Music was provided by Jewel Stout.
The family received friends from 6-8:00 p.m. prior to the service.
The graveside service and Interment were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014 from the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Paul Mains, Steven E. Chappell, Caleb L. Boudle, Trevor R. Clark, Jason Pass, Shohn Perry, Alton J. Clark and Colby D. Clark. Honorary pallbearers were William S. Mains Jr., Robert J. Mains, Eddie W. Clark, Dr. Robert Griffith and Dr. John Whitlock.
