- Miles Edgar McCloud, 91, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born September 13, 1930 to the late Walter P. and Lillie Oliveen McQueen McCloud. He had lived a number of years in Elizabethton.
Miles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Millwright.
Miles loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church but attended Lynn Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ellen Vines and Hannah Lou Blevins; a brother, Tom McCloud; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Nave.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joan Fletcher McCloud; a brother, Lanton McCloud, Sumter, S.C.; three sisters, Rachel Phipps, Elizabethton, Linda Jo Hall, Pontiac, Mich., and Anglee White, Gray, Tenn.; a special nephew, Keith Grindstaff; and several other nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 18, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (New Annex – 215 Heroes Drive, Mountain Home) with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard DAV 39, Bluff City. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, will be Buddy Blankenship, Lou Phipps, Paul White, Keith Grindstaff, Adam Grindstaff, Jason Grindstaff, Ray Ward and Tom Stetler.
