- Jady Arnold Birchfield, 63, 344 Sims Hill Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, January 5, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Birchfield was a native of Carter County and the son of the late George Thomas and Polly Jane Presnell Birchfield. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Sue; three brothers, Jessie, Walter and Henry Birchfield; and two sisters, Mary Lou Birchfield and Eula Birchfield Garland. Mr. Birchfield was a member of Long Hollow Mission Church and was a retired roofer. Survivors include his wife, Hattie Birchfield, of the home; four sons, Thomas Birchfield, Elizabethton, Cecil Tolley, Elizabethton, and Christopher and Jadie Birchfield, both of the home; three daughters, Teresa Birchfield, Elizabethton, and Angelia and Rita Birchfield, both of the home; four sisters, Irene Odom, Bobbie Anderson, Betty Waters and Regina Grindstaff, all of Elizabethton; and a brother, David Birchfield, Elizabethton. Nine grandchildren and a special friend, Wanda Birchfield, Elizabethton, also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
BIRCHFIELD -- Funeral services for Jady Arnold Birchfield, 63, 344 Sims Hill Road, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Long Hollow Mission Church with Rev. Russell Potter officiating. Music will be under the direction of Martha Ward and Tony Vines. Interment will follow in the Stout Cemetery at Walnut Mountain. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Mr. Birchfield will be taken to Long Hollow Mission Church at 4 p.m. Friday where the family will receive friends any time Friday evening and Saturday morning prior to the service.
