- Alice Elizabeth Oliver Markland, 77, gained her heavenly wings on Friday, August 20, 2021, at her residence. Alice was born in Elizabethton, Tenn., to the late Ira and Ida Oliver. Alice was a homemaker, loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Combs, and a grandson-in-law, Justin Branch.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories are her husband of 20 years, Lide Markland; three sons, Allen Morris and Terry Morris, both of Elizabethton, and Keith Morris and wife Trish of Greeneville; two daughters, Elizabeth Freshour, of the home, and Patricia Morris of Hampton; two special babies, Andrew Tanner and Tiffany Tanner, of the home; a brother, Dennis Oliver and wife Teresa of Elizabethton; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cassandra Morris, of the home, Melinda and Jonathan Branch, Kristina Height and husband Cody and kids, Kierah, Evangeline and Skyler, Terry Morris Jr. and wife Heather and child, Bentley, Frankie Morris and wife Jessica and kids, Lexi, Samuel and Dakota, Jacob Morris, Jared Campbell, Brandon Campbell and wife Jessica and kids, Jackson, Maggie and Molly, all of Elizabethton, and Cain and Alex of Greeneville; and two special friends, Nathaniel and Tillie Watson.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Kim Neilson, Israel Garcia, Samardia Missick and Amedisys Home Health Care for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
A service to celebrate the life of Alice Elizabeth Oliver Markland will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Mark Grubb officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service and committal will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 26, in the Treadway Cemetery, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Terry Morris Sr., Terry Morris Jr., Keith Morris, Ronnie King, Richard Canter and Frankie Morris. Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Morris.
