- Ronnie Bennett, age 75, Erwin, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 8, 2019. He passed away peacefully at his residence while he was surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Ronnie was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a son of the late Inez Bennett.
He was a proud United States Army Veteran. Ronnie was a member of the Erwin American Legion.
He was a forty-three year member of Faith Baptist Church. Ronnie taught the Senior's Sunday School Class for forty years.
He retired from Burton Rubber where he was a Truck Driver for many years.
Ronnie was a godly husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved his family dearly. Ronnie was an avid University of Tennessee fan. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, fishing, talking to and joking around with people. Ronnie will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his precious wife of fifty-seven years, Patsy Sue Tipton Bennett on April 26, 2018 and one daughter, Ruthie Bennett on February 24, 2006.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, one son, John Bennett (Monica), Knoxville; four daughters: Ronda Williams (David), Regina Tipton (John), Becky Bennett, Phyllis Harris (Sam), all of Erwin; fifteen grandchildren: Deanna Hardin (Michael), Joshua Williams, Philip Tipton (Brittney), Nathanael Tipton (Britany), Joseph Tittle (Rosie), Daniel Edwards (Olivia), Kendra Miller (Christian), Hannah Harris, Isaac Harris, Terry Franklin, Jessica Street (Timmy), Jeremy Lane, Rachel Morrison (Jackie), Hunter Bennett and Peyton Bennett; thirteen grandchildren; five brothers-in-law: Wayne Tipton, Franklin Tipton (Jeanette), Ronnie Tipton (Lois), Leon Tipton (Joan), Kyle Tipton (Josie), all of Erwin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Amedisys Hospice Staff for the loving care given to Ronnie and the entire family.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church. Reverend Harold Lewis and Reverend David Williams will officiate the 7:00 PM funeral service. Music will be provided by Judy Tipton, Jean Edwards and Faith Baptist Church Choir. Committal service will be held at 1:45 PM on Tuesday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Military Honors will be rendered by Carter County Honor Guard.
